Remember post-ATWT how Brooke Alexander was in eight million commercials and home improvement shows?  She was the epitome of a millennial consumer surrogate.

Meanwhile, Kelly Menighan worked the heck out of the short hairdo for years, and never got a beauty contract.  TBH, her whole vibe gave Midwest suburbs, as interpreted through the eyes of a Manhattan costume department with a network budget for designer goods. She was definitely sophisticated given her limited access to shopping at Lisa's Boutique in Oakdale.

Brooke was a commercial mainstay back in the day.. she probably made more money and treated better doing that then how she was sort of treated by the show during her time on the show.

Ironically.. Kelly was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs :)

Marnie Schulenburg's widower.

She was such a strong person.

(I did not realize he played the Tucker Carlson knockoff on Succession)

This makes me so happy. This is why no one could ever say anything bad about Julianne Moore to me. She truly loved her time on ATWT

You could always tell whenever Douglas Marland enjoyed writing for a particular actor, because he'd pull out all the stops for them; and Julianne Moore was no exception.

Julianne Moore has always spoken positively of her time on As the World Turns. She also had the good fortune of being on that show during the Calhoun/Marland era when it was at its creative peak.

Hard to believe that April 2 was 40 years since Julianne Moore first As the World Turns episode.

I agree; she's always spoken highly of her time on World Turns and how they treated her as a professional at that point.

This made me cry. I have never been able to wrap my head around the idea of Kathryn/Kim being gone.

Julianne is the classiest of the classiest.

Brooke did ads before ATWT too. That probably helped get her the job. After ATWT she seemed to branch more into hosting, along with ads.

I think I saw Kelley in an ad or two, but you're right she wasn't on as much.

Kelley sadly doesn’t even get much respect from ATWT fans.

Melanie Smith left. Y’all still can’t get over it.  Kelley played the hell out of that role. And that includes Emily’s stints as prostitute and attempted murderess.

I loved Kelley Menighan! She was an MVP, especially during the show’s last few years. I always looked forward to anything she did with MM, BH, CZ, MW,  and the two grownup Alisons. Wasn’t a big fan of her with RH’s Paul. I always admired how she balanced being a vixen and being neurotic.

I know this isn’t a usual or anywhere near universal take, but I loved the relatively brief Hal/Emily relationship/marriage more than I ever thought I would have with KMH/BH.

Great pairing that seemed to come out of the blue! Around that time, it felt like Sheffer/Goutman didn’t really know what to do with Emily or Hal. And KM and BH had surprisingly great chemistry. It was good for Emily especially because she was coming off those unsympathetic years with the Tom affair and then running the Intruder and essentially just being a busybody.

I remember, for their wedding, TPTB pulled out the old Stewart patio which had not been seen for years (and was not seen again). But during the 1960s, Ellen and David's patio was seen somewhat often during the summer months.
