ATWT didn't have a disco by the time he arrived, but it did have a health club, another late '70's/early '80's fad that many soaps tried desperately to incorporate with very mixed results, lol.

Oh yes. Health clubs are another thing that never really worked on soap operas. Not sure why. But none of them were ever believable to me. Lord, I don't understand why not. Maybe because the characters were always socializing while working-out. But most people are rather solitary, when taking a gym seriously. Who knows?

(I didn't even know Mitch and Alice had any involvement - they really did make a mess of her character)

No idea why my response to DRW50 was attributed to Mitch64 a few minutes ago. Maybe a glitch in the system? Who knows? Anywhoo, here is the response I wrote:

Alice and Mitch went on a couple of dates (this was while Vana Tribbey was playing Alice). And they shared a prolonged kiss, after dancing at the disco. But I don't believe they ever had sex -- thankfully. God only knows what kind of bugs sleazy Mitch Blake would have passed on to Alice. I wasn't so worried about Rachel, when she slept with Mitch -- for obvious reasons. LOL.

This isn't exactly my ATWT era but I thought this was notable anyway. I never knew there was a slasher series put out via Verizon alongside the slasher story that aired in summer 2006. This channel found a DVD with a higher quality version of a few of the clips. They also link to the original channel which has the rest of the episodes.

As the World Turns: The Slasher - Episode 10 (High-quality)

As the World Turns: The Slasher - Episode 9 (High-quality)

That channel has a number of '00s ATWT behind the scenes videos I never knew of. Here's one - some kind of spoof about Goutman.

As The World Turns "What Happened to Guffman ATWT" Satire

@P.J. I'm guessing you already knew about these, but here is a 24 parody featuring Maura and Michael, among others.

As the World Turns "24" Parody - Episode 1

Scenes set inside health clubs were the same as scenes set at discotheques: they still were the same, stilted, exposition-heavy conversations that used to take place around the kitchen and coffee table. The fact that they now were occuring in public and at "trendy" places like health clubs or nightclubs had no bearing whatsoever on how the conversations were conducted - and really, ladies and gentlemen, who discusses their most personal matters with friends in places like health clubs or discotheques anyway?

You've never been to the New York Sports Club in Harlem, have you?🙃 That place had scenes Beyond The Gates wished they could write!

Geez, Brad would have been there, wouldn't he? No wonder the disco shut down by the time he arrived. If there was ever a man in Oakdale ladies would be warned not to leave their drinks around...

LOL! Yes, and Jay could have turned the tables on him by walking by, doing the "ole switcheroo" and Brad would be doing the walk of shame the next morning by limping out of the manager's office!

Thanks. I didn't know about it. It's.....bad. But knowing Mikey could do those moves is...fun.
