We've all discussed her first marriage to Weber. Check the old posts.

Also there was a whole entire thread about soap stars who were married to other soap stars on their respective soaps and ATWT actors featured heavily, including Finn. Old news.

They're not related but whoa, the coincidence of having two left-leaning Southern families named Carter! That's one mighty coincidence. Somebody might want to consult Skip Gates!

All I can say is that Swan's very right-wing leanings date a LONG time so it is not a late-life switch on his parts. I knew about them twenty years ago and I am just a random soapwatcher.

Swan and Reed dated over 30 years ago. I was referring to them. I'm going to go on ahead and admit that, unless I see documented proof, I don't believe that Carter and Swan were in a romantic relationship. Just call me a 'Doubting Thomasina'.

Emmy Award-winning actor Nicolas Coster will be my guest in The Locher Room on Wednesday, May 19th at 3 p.m. EST / 12 p.m. PST. In his new memoir, Another Whole Afternoon, Nicolas shares his reflections from a London kid's transition from a British privileged life to becoming an American: from cowboy to factory worker, from movie actor to Presidential Guard, on Broadway to daytime soap opera fame and prime-time TV star. A turbulent but rewarding love life! All in search of creative expression. Along the way introducing disabled scuba divers and fellow celebrities to the wonders of the great undersea world. Truly harrowing Atlantic crossings as well as tranquil tropical splendors...these memories reflect an adventurous life many would envy. Daytime television fans will recognize Nicolas from his popular roles on As the World Turns (Edward Grimaldi), Another World (Robert Delaney) and Santa Barbara (Lionel Lockridge) to name a small number of those roles. In his 70-year career, Nicolas has appeared in over a dozen soap operas, countless primetime television shows and scores of stage and screen productions. This memoir "Another Whole Afternoon" is his first behind the scenes retelling of his life in front of the camera and his adventures beyond it.

One, I hadn't realized Costner was still alive, or had written a previous book. Hopefully Locher can get some good stories from him. But FCOL, couldn't he get the name of his ATWT character straight? It's Eduardo Grimaldi. Attention to detail counts.

DramatistDreamer, just for the heck of it, I just googled "Michael Swan Finn Carter" and this turned up first on the list. It's from Finn Carter's Instagram account back in December 23, 2015. She commented on the post  "Photo by Michael Swan 12. 10. 15" Who really knows what kind of relationship they had (just hot sex--and don't talk politics?!) or for how long, but I feel like this supports what I posted about seeing on Swan's FB a few years ago. https://www.instagram.com/p/_p76MLimn9/?hl=en

Shrugs. She and Scott Bryce used to have dinner whenever he went to L.A. for work. They weren't dating. Finn, like LF do portraits of friends and family, perhaps Swan too. Who really knows? It's cryptic.

Ah, a promo for the infamous "John rapes Dee" only kinda sorta not.  And totally agree with you, this group Annie, Brad, Dee, John, were morose and depressing and CONSTANTLY on..and I was glad when the Dobson's spun John off into enemies with James (while keeping Dee in the mix but only on the side.) Days and days would be full of weird Brad looking longlingly at Dee and Dee doing the same and being yelled at by John and David..David angry all the time, Ellen looking worried, Nancy and Chris pulled out of moth balls for walk ons...

Yikes at the audio/video syncing issues but it's nice to see an episode where Nella is actually working as a nurse, further proof that she was NOT a candy striper, lol.

Too bad there are almost no episodes on YT of Nella in the nursing program with Meg.

That scene with the nurse who refuses to care for Hank because he is the partner of an AIDS patient is a reminder of where society was where HIV and AIDS were concerned--the prejudice. There also seems to be a hint of homophobia in the nurse's stance as well. Also a reminder, perhaps that while we judge the characterization of Hank and his relationships from able millennium perspective, the reality of what it took to get this story onto daytime television, on perhaps the most conservative network at the time is a whole other matter.

Gosh, I'm sorry that a week or two ago I posted a mis-rememberance of what Nella Franklin's job was back in 1988-89. I never insisted that she was a candy striper and personally never asked for proof. While I respect your wealth of knowledge about ATWT, I'm not sure a "LOL" about my saying she was a candy striper was necessary.

Not to wade into any arguments but I'm not sure the comments were directed at any one person - I may have also referred to Nella as a candy striper in the past, because as mentioned above, there are huge gaps in episodes and I have some vague memories of her in that role.

    • How did you guess that! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees. Anita was serving "solo artist" realness the whole time. Stole the show.

    • Bye bye Dalton. Unfortunately this is going to fall on Sonny though, when for once he didn’t kill anyone.

"Grief, mental illness... and a handjob." Let's get done with the hardcore drama first... before we continue with the lighter stuff. Bo's condition worsened after the hot psychiatrist gave the risky idea to SHOW him Sarah's body. Dr. Jonas is triggering these people into catastrophes every day. It's almost like he gets pleasure out of this. Well... they did show him Sarah and the result was BAD. Bo went into a crazy meltdown, locked himself with the corpse... and started putting blankets on her to warm her up. Disturbing scene... yet powerful work from Robert S. Woods. Bo's resolve came at the end of December 7th's episode when he let Viki come inside and talk to him. I've chosen this as the clip of the day - anyone who ever underestimates or puts down soap actors, just because they are working in a soap... should see this. And then we'll talk. Very powerful.  Viki did what she does best - performed a miracle almost, getting Bo to open up and let the family in. And after that... everyone was looking at her like she is God. The children... Clint himself... everyone standing by the door expecting "savior Viki" to continue being the mother figure they desperately need. But Viki is also a woman. Woman, whose heart is no longer in that house with Clint... She wants to be with Sloan so bad... she has started looking at her husband in a different, colder way. He even came to her bedroom in his robe, probably expecting Viki to invite him in... but he got a chilly response.  Alongside Bo's terrifying breakdown... there were some grim events unfolding at Asa's house as well. Dorian and Blair's fighting made Addie become aggressive towards Asa of all people. She attempted to stab him with a pair of scissors. Asa then finally said "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!". It's either the baby or your sick mother. She must make a choice. What he doesn't realize... is that there is no baby. When he decided to contact Blair's doctor to inquire about her pregnancy... she knew she had to act FAST - likely fake a miscarriage. Jesus Christ, Blair!  This leads me to the storyline that consistently disappoints and undermines the overall mood of the show. Just picture having these intense storylines - involving... family, breakups, betrayal, grief, mental illness, and manipulation... and then suddenly, you see Alex giving Mortimer a handjob in the Buchanan Palace restaurant amidst all these other powerful scenes. Some might argue that this is precisely why such moments are there - to dilute the drama and darkness... but the result is far from enjoyable. It turns the entire show into a circus. You can't expect me to be emotional in one scene and then witness Alex reaching into Mortimer's pants... without cringing. It's a bit too abrupt... too early. It ruins everything and makes me despise... despise the characters involved. It's pathetic.    Overall -  6.5/10 - it would be a perfect 10 if you removed Alex and Mortimer. But I can't do that and I've decided it's enough giving them (the writers) slack about this. It's annoying, not funny and needs to end. If this was Bold... I would have been tearing them to pieces... but just because they've given me so much good material... I've forgiven idiocy time and time again. I have nothing against handjobs (quite the contrary actually), but I can't see them in the midst of a man crying over a corpse and a mentally ill woman attacking someone with scissors.    Clip of the day Viki consoles grieving Bo.

    • And every show she leaves is so unstable it takes years to recover, if it recovers at all. Objectively I can say she has a good eye for the look of the shows she is producing, and she knows how to film drama and strive for good acting. I don’t really fault her casting when it comes to new talent, her FOJ’s sometimes fit and sometimes don't though. She also interferes with writers to the detriment of her shows, favors problematic men’s egos on set and gives way less respect to women performers. Her work is often thematically very dark, and misogynistic. Something happened to her a year or so into Guiding Light. The show starts to come unraveled, she basically forced out the writing team that had been bringing the show success. She starts manipulating things like focus groups to get what she wants, and starts building the shows around the men (Buzz as example) and weak women (Lucy). She took over OLTL and tried to fully direct the writing while producing the show. On GH her instincts were so disastrous that they forced Guza/Pratt on her and gave them Associate Producer titles for more money and some agency in the story. And even then, it took until the Brenda return to fully save her ass. And on top of that she is majorly responsible for the show losing Sarah Brown, Amber Tamblyn, Genie Francis, and not securing Vanessa for a longer stay. And now that we know Guza didn’t want to kill Alan off, her fingerprints are all over that one IMO. The only thing I respect about her outside some casting that Mark Teschner brought to her is that she recognized Erika Slezak was too important at OLTL and still too vital to put out to pasture as only the mother of Joey, Jessica, and Kevin, and hand wringing sister of Todd. Emmy’s aren’t everything. Y&R had been number one for decades and truthfully should have been dethroned multiple times but habit and name recogniztion count for something.
    • Meg Bennett wrote for Y&R while appearing as Julia.
    • Everytime Liam appears on Screen I’m like: oh wait.. hey. It’s Liam. He’s still there?“ Like i don‘t know what it is but I always forget that he’s still around lol
    • Heather is a director AND writer at B&B, both in an irregular capacity.   Lawrence St. Victor is part of B&B's writing team for several years now.
