One thing that doesn't make sense is Rebecca is Cliff's daughter and the grandaughter of Rebecca I, and yet she is not Rebecca she is merely impersonating someone named Rebecca who is actually Tommy's sister from Des Moines.

That was a great episode, but as a season finale designed to keep people talking and anticipating it's return? Horrific. Where was the cliffhanger? You had at least a good five or six setups for good cliffhangers and they dodged everyy one of them. That makes no sense to me. I guess that's another think we can't count on these writers for. Geez. And the reveal of Rebecca also somewhat fell flat for me. I wonder if they'll continue to just call her Rebecca or will she become Pamela Rebecca? And I guess this confirms Afton will return since they'll have to explain this. I hope they just make Afton and Cliff married and maybe Afton can be the bitter old shrew we'd hoped for with Sue Ellen.

I don't understand why they don't take more from the B&B stories we saw from 81-84. Those were solid building blocks. A young Felicia feeling estranged from Stephanie. Ridge's first sleazy adventures as a designer and model hound, and his doomed relationship with Morgan. Stephanie's growing hatred of Kristen as she became a young woman. The extremely moving story of Richard, the openly gay Forrester designer who passed away from AIDS - a topic which got B&B into so much hot water with CBS that they were told to never have a gay story again.

What a great finale. That Rebecca,or whatever her name is; boy did she have me fool. She is nothing but a pack of lies. Thought she really loved Chris but everythign is one big manipulation for her....love it!

Go Annie! She kicked ass and did so, so great. She was geat when confronting her ex. I thought why is she whoring herself out to him but then she whipped out the wire and the punch

You guys think they should add Gary to the cast next season and possibly at least one of his kids? Maybe expand the Barnes family?

How does it not make sense? She pretended to be Rebecca Sutter for this con. She is a Barnes but I dont believe her first name was revealed. It could be Rebecca or something else. I have to admit my first thought at the reveal was ewwww. How young must her mother be for his old ass to be her father. I wish they had made her his granddaughter instead

I'm guessing the people who didn't see it are people who didn't even know that Pamela Rebecca Barnes ever existed in the first place. People who saw the original series almost had to have an inkling from the start. Just the name Rebecca itself tipped me off. Then her reaction to Chris bringing how Chinese food? Dead give away. Loved it!

Exactly. How would a newcomer to the series pick up on a Rebecca/Pam connection? I was shocked when she was revealed to be a Barnes bc I didnt think her real identity was going to be anything important. I thought she was just some random con artist in way over her head.

I understand it's a shot to new viewers, but that was kinda lame considering this same plot twist was done in JR Returns. It's now obvious they only omitted the movies so they could re-use this twist. It makes me sad to see so many praising CIdre as this soap savior when her big twist has been done before. In her defense, I do think she pulled it off very well and I loved the reveal, but they needed to have Pam (or Katherine if you couldn't get VP back) to really pack a punch and to give it something original.

Yeah, in the first reunion movie she was revealed to be Cliff's daughter that he didnt know about. Afton left in 84 and was pregnant with his child. That Rebecca was so sweet and nothing like this Rebecca though...and John Ross was just like his dad ..bedding all the females..lol..and Christopher was like his dad a gentleman. I like how they interacted with each other. I was thinking about the characters and how John Ross would be around 32 since he was born in 79 and Rebecca would be 27 or so with Christopher being around 30. So do the actors that play them look that age??

I think I am going to rewatch the first reunion movie this weekend.

TV Guide interview with Cynthia Cidre about the finale

http://www.tvguide.c...ew-1051815.aspx

TV Guide Magazine: Let's talk about the big 'it'. Rebecca is Cliff Barnes' daughter. Can you confirm that this daughter is the same child Cliff's wife Afton [Audrey Landers] gave birth to back in the '80s?

Cidre: Yes — that's the same Pamela Rebecca Barnes. I knew all along she was going to be Cliff's daughter, and I didn't think that many fans would pick up on the name. So I used her middle name to keep people guessing.

TV Guide Magazine: Is Afton still alive?

Cidre: I don't know yet.

TV Guide Magazine: This season we saw visits from Lucy and Ray. What other Dallas vets might you welcome back to Southfork next year?

Cidre: We're just breaking stories now so I don't really know yet. I just met Joan Van Ark [Lucy's mother, Valene] the other day and she was lovely. We tried for a cameo with her and Ted Shackelford this past season, but it didn't work out. I also met Donna Mills [Knots Landing's Abby Ewing] and she looks awesome, but I don't know that we can use Knots Landing characters.

TV Guide Magazine: Did you consider ending the season with a classic Dallas whodunit?

Cidre: This is the show that did that classically, but we're going to try to avoid that for a little bit. It doesn't mean we're not going to ever do that, but I don't think in our first couple of seasons. How could we ever top 'Who Shot J.R.?'

She better be!

I think ignoring the reunion movies and treating them as though they aren't canon is cheating. No matter how awful they may or may not have been. It cheapens the Dallas franchise as a whole to play fast and loose with the storytelling like that.

I loved the season finale!

FINALLY the writing for Ann was there, loved her punch on Harris.

Linda Gray looks incredible.

And good 'ol Larry Hagman wins with that delivery!

Katherine? Katherine is dead dead, seriously dead.

So the Afton comment was she believed to be dead or something, I've never seen the reunion movies

She was alive in the first reunion movie, J.R. had her put away in the loony bin. I'm already forgetting if Cliff or Rebecca made mention of Rebecca's mother last night in their convo in the hangar, though Afton wasn't mentioned specifically, regardless.
