Cliff got so old. I felt bad watching him and JR as shadows of their former selves. Still, it was nice to see him. Jesse Metcalfe is more handsome than I realized. One little thing that I liked as a Dallas geek was that the floorplan stayed the same.laugh.png You walk in and then there is the little foyer and to one side is the living room where cocktails were served and to the other side was the dining room where everyone ate together. That stayed the same. I also loved that the show remembered one of Jock's quotes, that real power is something you take. He actually said that on the show and I am glad someone writing this actually cares about the little things.

Linda Gray said in interviews people would be disappointed at first in her lack of presence but that her story picks up and picks up as the series goes on. Bobby is an idiot, but JR isn't much better. Once these people own Southfork and the oil underneath it, why do they even have to resell it to JR for 14%? Why not just keep it for 100%?

Thats what I thought...Jock said it to Bobby not JR. On tonights show JR mentions it to John Ross and how his dad told him that....he might of offscreen but not onscreen that was Bobby he told.

I think that is to his benefit. John Ross is oily so JH sort of looks the part. The moustache, the sneaky look, the guy just has a creepy look to him. I don't mind him at all. All the new people seem decent. It's not like any of their roles are so complex, they just have to be earnest and say the lines like they believe them.

I was wondering but wouldnt it be great if Rebecca and Tommy were Katherine's kids?? I know she didnt have any on screen...I would love them to go the Mandy Winger route too.....so many possibilities but they are probably Cliff's kids.

Yes, I realize I'm being all "nit-picky." Nevertheless, it must be said: J.R. (and LH) looked so out of place in that meeting with the Venezuelan dudes. In a way, though, the scene encapsulates my main concern with the series overall: as awesome as it is to "revisit" the Ewings and continue their stories, the truth is, DALLAS belongs in the past; and all the visual flourishes (wide-screen, HD, tighter angles, more use of steadicams, etc.) that the new series has incorporated in order to make it more "contemporary" succeed only in making these vets (LH, Duffy, Gray, KK, etc.) stick out all the more.

    • Maybe there was a scheduling conflict or something. He still has the full time 9-5 in Atlanta, right? Julie was there. Idk if Maggie’s gonna be a part of it though
    • At this point, the best nonpaywall coverage of Los Angeles (and anything political)  is in...the Tennessee Holler https://bsky.app/profile/thetnholler.bsky.social And as always, emptywheel continues to be consistent https://bsky.app/profile/emptywheel.bsky.social
    • Today Monday was the start of people arriving at the funeral, but the service hasn't started yet.  I know this is the nonspoiler thread but I think it's okay to say (in nonspecific terms) that the funeral episodes span a few days.  I won't detail it more here. Just sayin' keep watching.
    • Why am I only now hearing about what happened in L.A., lol?
    • While I agree that Reeves is Jennifer, I honestly do prefer Cady McClain in the role, as I feel she had/has a wider range of acting capabilities than I feel Reeves has. It's the strength of an actor, ultimately, for me, regardless of how I feel about Reeves' political/social views (which I widely disagree with). Plus, not to mention, they costumed Reeves like an old-fashioned frumpy farm/Moron wife, while McClain had some fashion-forward moments.
    • Wait - so no Will, Jack, or Jen at John's funeral? That’s just weird. What was the point of bringing them back then? Did Julie and Maggie even show up? I mean, seriously.

    • Has anyone ever totted up how many women on GL slept with both father and son(s)? Reva gets a lot of crap for it but she's far from the only one: Claire Beth Blake Olivia Dina Did I miss anyone?  Also, did Reva ever sleep with Phillip? They always had some "closeness" thing, but I don't know if they ever actually did the deed. If they did, then Reva's the clear winner, with TWO families covered, lol!
    • I think Long was probably planning to have Claire suffer from Post Partum, but she left the writing staff shortly after Claire had Michelle so that element didn't get explored. And I always assumed that when Claire returned in the late 90s/early 00s.. that she was realizing that she messed up by not staying a part of Michelle's life and became resentful/bitter over her previous choices.  That was my theory.
