As much as I loathe Katie and her latest "soulmate" crisis du jour....at least I got to see ol' Johnny boy in action. God, how I've missed Larry Bryggman.

It's eerie how much alike John & Reid are.

Gah how I've come to love Reid

The scenes in the previews look good, can't wait for the scene with Lisa, Susan & Babs

Today's show was just so poorly done. I was hoping their would be some sort of build up to Bob finding Nancy dead: Something like her not answering the phone; missing a lunch date with Lisa; not showing up at Barbara's weeding (this venue would have alowed for max contract players on screen). It just seemed so lame--Bob is late and says he 'found her'. I also hate this 'Do a good deed for Nancy' theme and wish they just saved her death for the final two shows where they could have done a traditional funeral. Nancy was ATWT and a 'funeral' might have just geen a fitting close and, in a way, given Nancy a chance to still say 'Good Night, Dear'.

I loved the interactions between John and every cast member and loved his banter with Reid. AMC kept David Canary (regardless of age) and all this made me think of the void John left. I can't wait to see him with Lucinda.

Jack and Carly are MIA, not on air for two episodes. The show seems off without them and I' not a big CarJack fan.

I hear what you're saying...but on some level, I would HATE the thought of it taking "not showing up" somewhere for anyone to go check on Nancy. That sounds neglectful. Their way, Bob (or whoever it was) had just talked to Nancy, and it's not long after she passed that she was found.

I don't see why TIIC couldn't have found some sound clip of HW saying "good night, dear" and still incorporated it into the show. Other than it being a pain in someone's tookus sifting through shows trying to find the phrase. If it's done right, I don't mind the "get inspired by Nancy" tribute. I don't need to sit through a funeral wondering why her son, daughter and most of her grandchildren aren't there.

Love the flashbacks, I have only been watching ATWT Off and on since 2002 and I didn't know much about Nancy

Great! I was hoping they would do some flashbacks. I'm looking forward to seeing that later. No real good flashbacks was what was missing from Guiding Light's last days.

These flashbacks are great! I can't stop crying either. Hits home for me, since I lost family in a housefire back in May and it brings all that up again

Actually just watched the episode online and thought it was well done. The build up to Nancy going was in the Allison/Casey and Chris/Kaite stories...(i.e. referencing Nancy and the ring and then the loss of someone in the Hughes family.) I thought it was a nice build up..though I know people dont like Chris and Katie but I am okay with them. Loved John's interactions but why couldnt they have had Lisa walk in after he meets Reid and Lisa and "that awful Johnny Dixon," could trade barbs. I am glad that Nancy wasnt "missing," for long and they implied that she passed away quietly a short while after talking to Bob. I did love the Reid/John interaction and would love to have had them together longer...loved Kim's reaction "They could be the same person!" Loved the Bob and Kim post divorce/post John rehabbed relationship as two old friends who have made ammends with each other, etc.

The reason they can't do a traditional funeral is the same reason that I really do think that it is time for ATWT to sign off..they simply can't afford to bring in all the actors and extras for something like this, which is crippling to family shows like GL and ATWT..ESPECIALLY ATWT, which when I was a kid, and later during the Marland years, was all about big family gatherings, holidays, weddings, etc. I dont want to see an empty church (the Casey Allison wedding remote looked ridiculous as no one but immediate family was there...) Loved Kim's and Lisa's reactions to the news (and glad that Lisa is still considered family.)

Jack and Carly missing is just fine with me. I have had enough of them lately and am happy to go a day without hearing"KERRRRLY." I did love the Allison speach, going over her past sins, it was a typical soap moment and something the Soap should show," I set the barn on fire, slept with my sisters boyfriend, I was a PORN star, AND I am a recovering Meth addict!" LOL..how the actress didnt start laughing I dont know.

Mitch, I was hoping John and Lisa might have one more scene for old time's sake -- I guess that isn't going to happen. Presumably no one at the show now remembers how much fun they and Lisa/Lucinda were.

I'm still behind but I'll have to check this out soon. I would rather they have brought back Penny than to continue to use Nancy as a Katie prop, but not shocked.

Yeah...wasn't really impressed with the continued focus on Katie---how I wish Nancy had a granddaughter in the cast so we'd have been spared thinking of Katie as her "honorary" granddaughter as she curled up and cried. And FCOL, with ALL the time she and Nancy talked, (and believe me---there has been MASSIVE amounts of Katie/Nancy scenes since Katie got flucked in the back of Nancy's convertible ten years ago by Simon) did they HAVE to show a scene from right before Katie's wedding to Jack? Even if I did snicker at the thought that was two soulmates ago for Katie-ums, who's now doing Nancy's grandson.

But I did love the clips they used. I would have rather had more of those and less current angst.

It's probably easier to just pretend Mac doesn't exist, even though that defeats the purpose of the beautiful story which Helen and Dan Frazier acted and which Marland so tenderly wrote, that you can find love again without disrespecting the memory of your longtime spouse. The only time this was referenced, indirectly, was when they needed to address Katie moving on after Brad -- but then that's more than I had expected, so I'll take that.

Of course for all my complaining about Katie, I have to wonder if the show would make an effort if Nancy hadn't been a friend to Katie. In the mind of those now running ATWT, I think Katie >>>>> the Hughes any time.

That's interesting Carl. As much as I can't stand Katie, I actually teared up at the end when she was in Nancy's apt. Somehow it was very right.
