July 20, 201015 yr Member Depp, who needs to find Holly and get back down on Jump Street. HA! FYI, you get 21 Jumpstreet at Target, 4 seasons for $30. Amazing. So I like Go But you do have a fair point--still I think Burton is the kind of director whose "vision" takes over everything else about a film (well Planet of the Apes aside which oddly had none of his trademarks--aside from HBC--but it was hardly any better for that). I loved Go! I am excited for this. yes Burton is dark and depressing and all that stuff, but its such a good fit for this.
July 20, 201015 yr Member I read JA's writing blog every now and then. I like him doing that, but needless to say, most of his movies are not my favorites. I loved Go (c'mon, gay soap stars, hello!), but I can't think of anything else he wrote that I liked. Didn't he do those...movies that call themselves Charlie's Angels remakes? Because if that was him, then maybe I will start hating him, Sylph. Re: JackP. Damn, I might have to go to Target now.

February 3, 201115 yr Member Here's some more casting news http://www.deadline.com/2011/02/jackie-earle-haley-and-bella-heathcoate-in-dark-shadows-talks/ Jackie Earle Haley is a good choice to play Willy.
February 17, 201115 yr Member Odd right? Pfieffer is one of my favourites of all time though, so, I'm not complaining. 10 or so years ago she would have been perfect for Angelique.
February 17, 201115 yr Member Joan Bennett was a beauty who actually looked her age, and had regal presence, whereas Pfeiffer seemed to lose any personality and only gained bad facial work. Bleh. Edited February 17, 201115 yr by CarlD2
February 17, 201115 yr Member Joan Bennett was a beauty who actually looked her age, and had regal presence, whereas Pfeiffer seemed to lose any personality and only gained bad facial work. Bleh. Precisely. As predicted, they will probably butcher this one too.
February 17, 201115 yr Member wow I posted before I had all the info! Helena Bonham Carter as Dr Julia Hoffman! http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2011/02/15/dark-shadows-helena-bonham-carter-michelle-pfeiffer/ Now, two more names are hopping aboard Burton's adaptation of the 1960s gothic soap, and they're familiar ones. Helena Bonham Carter, Burton's partner and a regular presence in the director's recent string of films, is confirmed for a role in "Dark Shadows." That news shouldn't come as much of a surprise. No, it's the other name that's considerably less expected: "Batman Returns" actress Michelle Pfeiffer is reuniting with Burton for the movie as well. Deadline reports the casting, stating that Pfeiffer has been locked in for the role of Elizabeth Collins Stoddard. She is the matriarch of the Collins clan and the owner of Collinwood mansion, where much of the action of "Dark Shadows" takes place. Carter, meanwhile, is "in line" to play Dr. Julia Hoffman, a psychologist who specializes in rare blood disorders. After moving to Collinwood, Hoffman initially poses a threat towards the vampire Barnabas, but the two eventually reconcile their differences as she searches for a way to cure his bloodlust. Looks like Burton is casting his entire stable of go to people. Maybe there is a role for Pee Wee?
February 17, 201115 yr Member So Burton will turn this into yet another of his boring fetishes and the original will be meaningless. Shocking. Now I wonder if the critics will swoon and trash the original material. I do think HBC could be a good Julia, as long as she plays her as repressed, and not as some campy joke.
