Yeah Soapcentral.com, one of the administrators said he would be leaving in the fall, most likely October. Nothing has been confirmed though. I was just posting what I saw.

No. I have made jokes here and there about his weight, but he wasn't letting me down by being a little big. And it isn't even comparable to what happened to Adrienne Leon because he didnt lose his job over it. He was safe at OLTL,but had he been a female it would have been shape up or ship out.

I think it is comparable. The only difference is that Leon's weight gain came under the scrutiny of TPTB. His weight gain has come under the scrutiny of "the fans," who aren't in charge of whether or not he keeps his job.

What I'm saying is that the double standard that exists with TPTB that women should be held accountable for their physical appearance while men should not seems to be flipped upside down with some fans. Brian Frons makes offensive, sensitive remarks about Kathy Brier's weight and the fans all agree that he's offensive and insensitive. A fan or blogger or poster on a message board says that Brandon Buddy or Tyler Christopher or Michael E. Knight is gaining weight, and everyone has a jolly old time pointing out which each appearance how fat they're getting.

It's unfair and insensitive on every hand, IMO.

They should just write he and Starr off as going away to college together. Their characters have run their course and I dont see what else thye can do for them at this point.

They'll never let KA just walk out. She's their baby. It's obvious that if Cole isn't recast it's Starr and James time. She'll probably be like Viki, with like 50 husbands.

I dont mind Starr but seriously, she adds nothing to the show. They need to cut their losses and write her out. Bring her back for the holidays and special events and maybe consider bringing her back full time in a year or so. But for now, I think the best thing for her character is to take a break

I'm not so sure Marty is a goner. Wasn't one of Haskell's demands when she returned a "part-time" schedule so she could spend time with her kids? The limited airtime may suck for the character of Marty but I think the actress is fine with it.

Oh well when you lay it out like that I get your point.

But she has nothing. No man, no friends, and possibly no son. What is the point of Marty still being here?

Exactly. The injustice is that although they are signed the same contract male and female soap actors are being held to totally different standards by TPTB. Unlike with Leon, TPTB didn't fire Buddy.

When it comes to how the TPTB treated Leon vs. Buddy, I don't see where the situations are comparable. Unless Buddy is lying and he was fired because he gained weight.

When it comes to we the fans treat weight gain, you have a point. However, I am unapologetic. I resent the double standards of the TPTB so when I see male actors blowing up or having love handles in their love scenes, I comment on their weight gain.

He never did say that TPTB told him anything about his weight gain. Everything he's got there seemingly points to what he's read from fans. I'm not too ridiculous to believe he'd be treated the same way as a female co-star, mind you, but as far as we know, TPTB haven't told him anything (which is actually worse than if they told him something and didn't fire him).

No idea but from what I've heard about OLTL lately, pointlessness is hardly an automatic pink slip.

It is. It kills me when white men gripe about being held to remotely the same standards as everyone else. Buddy is offended that TPTB want him to lose weight? Someone tell him about what Y&R did to Adrianne Leon who is now pencil thin on GH. Buddy better wake the hell up. He is an industry where looks are all that matters, then again he would be welcome on GH and AMC where ABC"s the puffy flabby male actors reside.

WIN.

I agree with AMS(shocker I know, LOL)

I will miss BB, he was growing on me and I think he was improving as an actor.

SH working part time, I know that's what she wants, but I can see the show thinking what's the point of keeping Marty around. They couldn't even be bothered to have her at her good friend Nora's wedding

But that comparison only works if you eliminate sexism which isn't possible.

Women are constantly held to a higher standard appearance wise than men. There are tons of stories from everyone from Genie to Mel Scott to Kathy Brier to Ilene Kristen who have lost jobs or been harassed about their weight while their male counterparts are allowed to be slovenly as they please.

You think AMC would let Chrishell slide if she showed up to work looking unkempt like RPG? Not a chance.

Over the years men have become more objectified than in the past but it's still not comparable cause they have the option of not being held to the same standard as Women about their appearances because of Male Privilege.

When was the last time you heard stories about a Man in Daytime (or Primetime for that matter) that was let go cause he let himself go?

Exactly.

The most you'll hear about a Male actor's appearance being an issue is if they are in an accident like with Mickey Rourke or Eric Roberts.

Even in the movies Men of a certain age are still treated as sex objects (Pierce Brosnan) while Women of a certain age (Julie Walters) are treated as anything but.

Haqs KA graduated high school yet? Has she said anything about her plans for college? I agree with the poster who said that she's their baby and she's not going anywhere soon if the show has anything to do with it, she and Jess are Vikis 2 and 3.0. Nothing should ever surprise us with these shows, I would never say that without a shadow of a doubt they would never recast Starr, but if KA did want to go to school they'd probably just beef up Dani in her absence. Erin Torpey was taking classes while still doing the show IIRC, but a full-time college schedule AND a soap is impossible.
