Members marceline
Honestly, no. I don't get it. I just don't. And I don't care that he started working on soaps. I started working at Burger King and if I end up there again, its because something horrible has happened to my life. I am completely, totally perplexed by this, so WTF? is all I've got. Members Sylph
It's probably easy money and something new for him. Something like an experiment? Who knows...
Members LoyaltoAMC
Say what you want about Rauch, but he really remembers his friends. He and Roberts worked together on AW over 35 years ago. He also worked with William Russ on AW, which probably got Russ hired at Y&R in the first place.

Members Ann_SS
It is probably the money. A nice payday for a few episodes work. Eric Roberts works a lot, but he does a lot of straight to DVD movies. He isn't someone who would command a high payday in the movies. Eric Roberts is Julia Roberts' brother. Before she came along, it looked like he was building a nice movie career, but he wasn't very good and picked a bunch of bad movies. Now he is just a mediocre actor who works a lot. Members BadZoe
Why don't they just change the name of the show to Old & Hasbeen's, and see if they can deceive a few people into watching for nostalgia sake.
Members sheilaforever
Are they serious? What's up with hiring somewhat "name actors" I couldn't give a rat's ass about!? And Maria should finally call Brad Bell on how to do stunt casting. At least when he does it, they are GOOD actors and get fantastic roles: ask Betty WHite and LInda Gray for that matter... Members Cheap21
thanks. That pic in the link isnt a very flattering shot. He looks like he's had ALOT of work done and when he debuts on the show, he will have guarantted himself an entry into the Soap Star Plastic Surgery thread
Members detroitpiston
Are we supposed to be impressed?
Members Juliajms
I thought he was pretty attractive in the early 90's. He did some movie with Sharon Stone back then that pops up on late night cable occasionally.
Members BadZoe
Didn't most people over 40 look better over 20 years ago?
Members DRW50
Roberts played Brian Bancroft's son on, as Sylph mentioned, Another World. He was one of many young people who passed through the show in those years, as they struggled to write for young adults. Apparently he didn't heed the lesson of William Russ, also of that era, who was fired by Y&R for a dud recast in Stephen Nichols. His character on AW was presumed dead and then recast with Richard Backus, Barry Ryan on Ryan's Hope and writer for various soaps. Ted Bancroft was AW's first back from the dead character. http://www.igs.net/~awhp/1tedb.html I'm annoyed by the "lured" bit -- Eric is certainly a busy actor but he's not exactly a huge name who desperately needed to be wooed. And what is this part? This is a part anyone could play. YET AGAIN those at Y&R show their intense shame and self-loathing towards the soap industry by clamoring to cast a "name" in any random part. It just shows how empty Y&R is, because people aren't going to notice the role, they're just going to notice the actor. Anyway, at least this is the first ever Doctor Who/Y&R crossover! Members Ann_SS
He has had a lot of work done and it wasn't done well. He didn't age gracefully.
Members Khan
I guess Ray Liotta wouldn't return Rauch's phone calls.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Is he that desperate for money? EW makes this sound like a one month stint in a very limited bit character capacity. It's not a big role, they couldn't have cast some poor/struggling actor for this role? I've never been a fan of his...
