What was the point of dropping it last year and claiming it wasn't a viable option any longer? CBS is weird...

I guess it's good soap fans and soap actors have a place to see their industry represented though, but personally, I'm no longer invested in the Daytime Emmy's What a farce.

I can't believe that, for the first time ever, I'm gonna be rooting for General Hospital to win the Daytime Emmy for Drama Series. Hell has officially frozen over.

I always love the Emmys, regardless of who's nominated. It's fun to guess who's gonna win, fun to watch, and fun to see daytime stars completely sh*twrecked on national TV.

And Dear God, whatever you do, PLEASE don't bring White Cherry Entertainment back! Crappy graphics, crappy faux-rock music, crappy all the way around. I hope last year's production company is in charge. They pulled off one of the best Daytime Emmys shows in years.

Thank you. I can't believe there are people that think last years was the worst. Obviously they need their heads examined. Last year actually looked like the producers gave a damn.

CBS, on the other hand, is the WORST at producing the Emmy's. Rachel [!@#$%^&*] Ray, anyone? That year wasn't even funny, just embarrassing.

Guest dc cubs

I'm glad its being televised. I thought it might be on ABC as earlier mentions said it could be rerun on another station. I thought the second airing would be on Soapnet. Plus Romanovich said that the decision was made to have a 40th AMC Anniversary tribute during the show instead of an ATWT farewell tribute. I find it odd that CBS wouldn't want to give tribute to a show on its network but will air an anniversary tribute for an ABC soap.

WIN.

People can [!@#$%^&*] on Guza and this show all they like, but they pretty much deserved all their Emmys. Even when the stories were shameless Emmy-grabbing and pure garbage, they were better than the rest. They just slick it up for the Emmys, package the product nicely and grab it.

Like they should.

Others are idiots for not following the same formula too.

Because the emmys are more about soap operas?

because it still has three soaps, even if one is ending.

because it has the #1 daytime drama?

GH for best drama? No. It has almost nothing to pick from. The only other soap who deserves it less is AMC... and maybe ATWT.

DAYS, Y&R, OLTL all at least have a good chunk of episodes from last year.

I totally get what you mean regarding the Emmy's...I love to watch them for the same reasons as you. And also, it's not everyday that you get to see all the soap stars in one red carpet, one room, all together like you do with regular celebrity's pretty much everyday. I find it exciting.

Oh and I'm rooting for GH, to...and also DAYS. I think those two will garner the most nods\wins this year. Can't decide which should win best Drama though..

It is weird that they are airing on CBS, but I am just so glad that they are airing!

Agreed. I'm always going to have a general hate for GH, and will NEVER watch the show regularly and haven't for years, but this year, every other soap upped their [!@#$%^&*] factor to new heights until the point where it crossed past my general hate into full fledged loathing. The only other soap I'll except is ATWT.

GH doesn't deserve anything for 2009 IMO. DAYS and OLTL were pretty good for most of the year, and Y&R was good for the first half of 2009. GH should def. get it for the stuff they've done this year, at the 2011 Emmys.

    • I disagree.  I think MVJ has set up each character in the cast with specific traits over the past few months, including Dani.  Now we are seeing each react to Nicole's situation in their own way.  Dani being loud, Martin being raging, Kat being indignant and comforting, Anita being encouraging, Vernon being loving, and Pamela just being there unquestioning. If Dani had become a wallflower, that would not have fit her character.
    • They did when they first met. They bonded over the awful green tuna casserole their mutual Grandma Jo served at family dinners.
    • I have a feeling we won't truly be seeing their stories until the fall; right now, what they've inherited is the mess of the "writer", per their own admission.
    • This evil woman is really gonna frame Eva for Laura's attempted murder. Wow
    • I stopped watching Days for several months because the show was cartoonish and dumb as hell as written by Ron.  I starting watching again in March and I am happy to see improvements in the day to day scripts. However, Paula and Jeanne will need to start telling bold and intelligent stories to keep me watching.  Stephanie the romance novelist and Sarah's allergies aren't going to cut it for me. I'm sure Bo's return and John's death will be engaging and emotional but it will take strong long term stories to turn this show around. I really hope they can do it.
    • A partial episode from June 1985 was uploaded - I don't think it's been up before. You get Susan Marie Snyder's brief appearance. In a lengthy set piece where Rick is going undercover in some punk bar, he introduces himself to her. There's a surprising moment where when she says her name is Sam, he is thrown and is about to ask a very personal question before she further explains that it is short for Samantha. Grant Show is one of those guys who is classically very good looking, but I'm not sure how often I've ever actually felt attracted to him. This episode is an exception. He just looks hot as hell in what they put him in and how they do his hair and face. I can't say I go back to this period of the show very often, but I certainly am glad I watched this one.

    • I have no use for Derek but I was happy to see them exploring Naomi and Ashley's friendship again. More of that, please! I was stunned when Ashley asked Naomi about the Ted drama. We actually got a lot of interesting combos today. Tomas/Eva, Kat/Smitty, a rare Martin/Ted sighting and Vanessa/Nicole, among others. This was a good breather from all of the drama of the past few days. Because of pre-emptions I expected a random ending and not a proper cliffhanger but I literally jumped when I saw Leslie walk into Nicole's house! That was the perfect way to end things and along with the prevent, I'm excited to finally get back to a full 5 episodes next week!
    • I’m not going to take Dani seriously going off on Ted when she was willing to overlook all of Bill’s affairs in her own marriage and only got her feelings hurt when her ass was left. Absolutely hate that she’s getting a dedicated showcase scene like that - I think this is where MVJ’s personal friendship with Karla Mosley removes objectivity when writing for Dani as a character sometimes.
    • @slick jones An episode (maybe the only episode?) of Susan Marie Snyder's Ryan's Hope stint has popped up. June 1985. Her character's name is Samantha. I'll post the video in the show's thread.
