Iris lied about having a son that Carly supposedly murdered. Iris grew to resent Ray and by extension Carly, so to free herself, she made him believe their child died, and blamed Carly for it. I seem to recall Lucinda suspected Georgia of having something to do with it before people gave up searching for them. We were suppose to believe than James had them kidnapped and possibly killed. Both Kirk and Sam had been ruined as characters by that point anyways. Georgia's presence may have opened story for them but even she was gone within what two years?
