January 9, 201016 yr Member IF CBS is interfering now, then Y&R and its stories must be testing very BADLY with focus groups and viewer feedback must be very negative. But still, the actual writing and crafting of this stories are on this writing team, and many of these same problems have followed members of this writing team from show to show and haven't existed on this show before under other regimes with the same top brass at CBS. January 9, 201016 yr Member I don't believe that micromanagement is anywhere near as much of a problem with some soaps as it is for others. GH has been repeating variations of the same stories for Guza's entire time as headwriter, starting back in 1996. Jason worship. Violence against women. A hostility towards the Quartermaines, and towards anything Luke and Laura had together. This has been with two different EPs and three different ABC Daytime Presidents. Sheffer has written the exact same sicko stories at NBC and at CBS, on three different soaps. Hamner has written variations of the same poorly constructed, endless "mysteries" on PC and on Y&R. Rauch has had longstanding issues regarding minorities and women on his soaps. Am I supposed to believe that a wide variety of networks and executives have somehow managed to make them produce the same stories? That everywhere Sheffer goes, he hears people tell him that there needs to be more animal killing, more smarmy assholes passed off as leading men, men being raped for a laugh, more "if she says no she means yes, especially if you threaten her boyfriend" storylines? That Y&R, which had a long history of frontburner stories for black characters, suddenly decided to completely downplay them and give them offensive stories as soon as Rauch showed up? If anything I think Y&R needs MORE interference. The show seems aimless and I can't put that on Sony or CBS. It's a basic failure of writing and producing which someone with a modicum of talent would know how to overcome. And if the network "killed" Michael Muhney's embarrassing attempts to play blind, which reinforced all of his acting flaws and disconnected him from co-stars, is that a bad thing? I notice that he says they "make these shows for a living." That's true, but it also reinforces that they see this as a job, not as something which inspires them. That's another reason the show is so flat. Indeed!

January 11, 201016 yr Member Dear God... that "tailored" denim jacket. Is that thing stonewashed? (On the upside, MAB got to pose with David Beckham. Raowl! Maybe he should play Blind Adam from Kansas).

A few sessions with an IPL machine plus a physical sunscreen would substantially improve the texture, tone and overall condition of her skin. She needs to cut her hair too. The long, poker straight hair does her no favours. Icky, Icky MAB.

January 11, 201016 yr Member You're my new best friend. Diane is the damn deal. I always knew that, regardless of our differences, we were solid pals. We're too smart not to be And you got it, Diane is the damn deal. Honestly, my favourite network news anchor (maybe, ever)...! Rosacea?! Really?! Absolutely. Rosacea is a very, very common skin disorder. In my opinion, which is shared by many dermatologists, rosacea is a blanket term that is used for anything having to do with skin redness. In some people, rosacea can be very severe involving facial swelling, deep redness, an enlarged nose, explosive acne-like lesions and gritty/watery eyes. In others, it's simply a constant flush. MAB is certainly to the mild side of rosacea, but that's what she has. The large pores and flushed skin spell it out to me. The problem is that while rosacea isn't a challenge to treat (topical and oral antibiotics are an option, though I much prefer lasers and IPL treatments, perhaps a chemical peel as well) it is impossible to cure since nobody knows what causes it since, as I said, it's a blanket term and there are likely tons of different reasons why it occurs. Bill Clinton, Diana, Princess of Wales, Rosie O'Donnell and Mariah Carey are some of the famous faces who have rosacea (well, HAD in Lady Di's case).

I thought that when talking about rosacea dermatologist meant red, dry, tight skin, burning & stinging sensation plus dilatated capillaries etc. Bill Clinton, Diana, Princess of Wales, Rosie O'Donnell and Mariah Carey are some of the famous faces who have rosacea (well, HAD in Lady Di's case). Mariah Carey?!? Is her dermatologist a secret one? Edited January 11, 201016 yr by Sylph

I thought that when talking about rosacea dermatologist meant red, dry, tight skin, burning & stinging sensation plus dilatated capillaries etc. Mariah Carey?!? Is her dermatologist a secret one? Usually, people think rosacea is red, oily, acne prone skin, which is what MAB seems to be demonstrating. Most people don't link rosacea and dryness, but the two absolutely co-exist. That said, when patients have red, dry skin it's sometimes that moisturizing it will help relieve some level of the redness, dryness often leads to an impaired skin barrier function which leads to inflammation (ie: redness, burning and tingling). Mariah Carey, no idea who treats her. Someone in New York though.
