GH: James Franco Joins The Cast

Franco is filming more?

And he’s already asked to extend his GH adventure. “We’re mixing James up with as many of our major characters as possible and creating a big umbrella story that will continue to play out after he’s gone,” says Guza. “He’s very excited and wants to do more. There’s a very good chance he’ll be back.”

We will get a sweeps story where Franco torments Jason by forcing the entire cast to wear reindeer sweaters.

Burton claims that Franco has no ego. Perhaps Franco will give up his burgeoning movie career and join the cast of GH for less money and long hours. Damn, that nasty drug habit. :)

Good for him. If he finds the work challenging, then he should do it.

From NY Mag:

But why a soap opera at all?

Well ... I've got other ideas for my participation in this soap opera beyond just being in this soap opera. But it's been a blast so far. It was kind of mind-blowing. I've worked one day on it. It's one day of a few. But I think we packed seven episodes of my material in. They gave me a script for the day that was as thick as a film script and that's what we planned to shoot in a single day. No ad-libbing. If I needed it, they said they had a TelePrompTer, but the regulars didn't use it so I didn't want to use it, either. Anyway, I'm pretty good at remembering lines.

So there's an ulterior motive.

I'm fairly excited, so I'm hoping he's not just out to punk the industry. Whatever the state of GH per se, people in daytime do work harder than anyone else out there, for little to no reward.

It's either something related to a project he is involved in in school(he's working towards some sort of degree) or he's preparing for an upcoming role. I tend to think it's the school aspect. He's also doing Thirty Rock with Tina Fey on NBC and he did that appearence on SNL not too long ago I believe.

According to Michele Val Jean Guza is writing all of James Franco's scenes himself, dialogue and all
