The acting of level in these is strong enough to where you don't care about some writing issues (aside from that weird fantasy of a dad Kyle).

I love, love, love the scenes of Alex coolly firing and decimating Warren and Phillip, all while pretending she's not heartbroken over her son's imprisonment and her own toxic dealings with Andy Ferris. Beverlee is just masterful in these scenes. I hadn't seen them before, or had forgotten them.

I'm always spellbound by Mary Kay Adams, but somehow, I can like both her and Beth, mostly because of the actors.

Can someone shed some more light for me on Curt Dawson's Peter character? I know he had a romance with Holly, but I've read some of story there about Peter having a secret past with some woman and killed her sister by accident but ended up getting engaged again to this same woman again with his 1980 exit. It all sounded rather strange.

I was thinking about all of the characters written out between 1980-1985 and I was shocked at how many and who they were. I included characters who left because of the actor.

Roger and Holly-1980

Rita, MH Ed, Diane and Elizabeth-1981

Jackie, Carrie-1982

Justin, Sara, Ben, Eve, Amanda, Jennifer, Bill, Hope, Adam-1983

Bert, PS Ed, Mike, Hillary-1984

Quint, Nola, Annabelle, Tony, Katie, Floyd, Trish-1985.

Did I miss anyone?

And I have to say the fact that so many important vets and characters/actors who brought so much were dismissed is sad. Justin, Jackie, Elizabeth and Sara could have been played for years in ongoing stories. The Stapleton sisters aways intrigued me. And all of the Bauers written out is just sad.

In 1977, Rita was pursued by Peter Chapman, but she pushed him away and he turned to Holly. In 1978, Peter and Holly's happiness was threatened by his guilt for not saving a drowning girl, Linnette Waterman in Santo Domingo where he was engaged to her sister, Maya. Peter returned to SD, found peace and reconciled with Maya, but she felt out of place in Springfield and left him. By the way, they filmed the underwater scenes of Peter in Nassau, the first underwater scenes ever on a soap. By 1980, Holly and Peter reconciled, but she ended their engagement when she left town and he reconciled with Maya and returned to Santo Domingo.
