Yep, his acting totally killed scenes that could have been much more powerful with a capable actor in Monday's US episode. Tricia Cast and Jess Walton tried their best, but Bierdz is the center piece of this storyline, and he CANNOT deliver or at least he didn't in Monday's US episode. He's totally out of tune in these scenes, it's almost as if his head is stuck on another universe. He has the same facial expression throughout the entire episode, and as y&r_fan said, he sounds like he's dead. His line delivery totally SUCKS. If he's supposed to play arrogant, fine, but even at that, he sucks. This is who people wanted back? Not only does the storyline not make any sense, but the actor at the heart of it sucks and can't sell it.

He's a horrible actor and if he doesn't improve, his six month contract and this poorly written storyline can't end soon enough...

Thank you. It was annoying the hell out of me when I didn't see a new thread. Usually by mid-afternoon Sunday a new one goes up. Let's hope you all find this weeks Y&R as riveting as you've found it in the last couple of weeks. Now if we could just get the other soaps to wake their asses up, I'd be the happiest camper on the SON!

SoapZone has the Zoo...SoapOperaNetwork has the SON :)

I think the big test this week is to try to make viewers care. At the moment I think there's a struggle for emotional investment in most of the stories. Like the Adam story. I end up just waiting for the next moment of shock value. I'm not sure how I should feel with Phillip's return because I'm not sure if they have a strong story planned out beyond just bringing him back. I don't think they did for unrelating Katherine and Jill, or Billy and Mac.

At least we'll be in for some great acting. And hopefully they will do a good job explaining Phillip's motivations.

I can't wait. Monday should be great. From reviews, it's obvious that Thom is playing detatched and aloof at first, keeping Phillips attitudes and motivations an enigma until the right moment for him to open up. Either that or he's rusty. I'll watch very closely and judge. I've seen alot of actors who use their eyes alot, and not gesture or facial expression called "wooden" and so forth, Ashbash was one. But I like that type of actor, some viewers just have to be beaten over the head with emoting in order to "get it", but I don't.

I saw a scene from Tuesday and his voice does sound odd and his speech was kinda slurred like he had no teeth. Reminds me of Tiny from the Tiny and Toya Show. His body language and everything about his performance in such a pivital scene fell flat. I worry that the terrible excuse for Phillip leaving them coupled with Thom's acting will ruin this storyline. I was excited about his return until I read that awful spoiler, but now that I see his acting I'm worried. He was never a great actor, but as a young actor he showed potential. As I said in another thread, he's more on the level of someone like Eva Marcielle who does have great charisma and has potential. He's not one of those fresh out of the gate stars like early Greg Rikaart, Tricia Cast, Heather Tom, etc. It seems whatever talent he had got lost. It'll be interesting to see if he improves over time.

This is a make or break it week for me on Y&R. My favorite part of MAB's Y&R has been the Chancellor storylines, but with weak writing for Jill and this silly Phillip twist my saving grace could be ruined. We'll see if they can pull this off. I'm doubting it, but we'll see.

I've also appreciated the focus on the Chancellors, although I sometimes question whether the writing is true to the characters. I haven't seen what I know of as Jill, or Katherine, or their relationship, which wasn't as noticeable when they were moving through story at a fast clip, but has bothered me for some months now. They haven't been written for in such a long time that it was probably easy for MAB to graft stories onto them. I hope when they move more into the story with Phillip, we will get to see more sides to them.

    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
    • Agreed. The Emmys next year are gonna be a pretty tough competition and I hope we get a Days sweep lol  Not only does Deidre deserve a nomination for these last few weeks, but I also think Paul Telfer, Raven Bowens, Carson Boatman, Dan Feuerriegel and Alison Sweeney have good chances as well.
