Passions

"Sunset Beach" was partially produced by Spelling Television, which was absorbed by CBS. Don't think they'd be interested in any of it.

I think with "Passions," NBC knows its a cult classic and is playing it up as long as it costs next to nothing.

Before I read the context (didn't see your whole post outside of the sidebar preview on the front page), I was thinking you meant a supernatural "One Life to Live" spinoff would have been a good idea. With that said, yeah, I think Ron Carlivati is good for outlandish, supernatural-ish type programs moreso than the soaps that are on today. What I wish he would have done with "DAYS" was instead of playing old stories again, do the unexpected and make things more character based and more love and passion without pairing up rapists/murderers with heroins. Or rehashing dead, dead, dead, princess storylines, or resurrecting a respectfully dead character.

Couldn't stand her, or her boyfriend Cecil. I will concede that the writers were probably scrambling after Josh Ryan Evans' death and I'm sure there was a desire to keep the dynamic of Tabitha and a short/young companion. Ultimately, Kay ended up being Tabitha's best foil after Timmy.

For those that missed it, here it is in its entirety. I love that Deanna Wright made a surprise pop up visit, she literally has been out of public since the show ended so it was nice to see her today. Also, loved McKenzie Westmore calling BS on her character ending up with Antonio haha!

I’m watching 2000 Passions. It is pretty darn addictive. I love how funny it is. Using Tabitha/Timmy as a Greek chorus is pretty brilliant. Also, you don’t even notice how little plot movement there is because there are all these awesome side quests like Tabitha getting turned into a fish. The individual episodes have really good script writing and seem like they have a lot going on in them. Idk how exactly to describe it, but Reilly had it down to a science of how to make it seem like the plot was moving when it wasn’t.

Currently I’m in the summer. I’d totally forgotten Maureen McCormick was in this as Gwen’s mother. All I can see is Marcia, Marcia, Marcia, unfortunately. The episode I ended with tonight had Charity picking mushrooms to poison Miguel, lollll.

    • I wonder if Falcon Crest wasn't seen as macho enough for them.  I first saw Dynasty on FX around 1994 or 1995. I think it ran for a few years, although I may be off as I moved and lost the channel for a while.
    • -- The fact that we know the mess that Billy made when he renovated the Chancellor place makes his entire sadsack attitude pathetic. I wanted someone to smack the hell out of him. -- And why did Diane care so much about Billy's opinion beyond hearing he liked it better before? Why continue pressing him on it? Josh Griffith clearly thinks this is a storyline, and it isn't. It never was. -- So Mariah cheated on Tessa offscreen. OF COURSE it was offscreen. Then we got this ridiculous, convoluted explanation of why she cheated, ending in her announcement that she doesn't have any character at all. GMAFB.  -- Now we'll get the cliche garbage of Mariah confessing to Tessa, who turns to Daniel for sex even though she's a lesbian. (Please spare me the comment that Tessa is bi.) -- The excuse for Summer leaving town? Also pathetic. Why in the hell would she have to leave town to find a new creative director for Marchetti?
    • I vaguely recall it surfaced on either TNT or TBS around 1993 or so but I could be wrong about the channel. By 1997 when this article was written Knots was still airing on TNT, Dallas was on the old TNN network (which today is Paramount), and Dynasty was on…well I don’t even recall now but feel like it was either E!  or Bravo. TNN ran Dukes of Hazzard and Dallas together in the evenings for years surprised they didn’t just pick up FC to resurrect the trifecta.
    • I think you're thinking of the dress she wore on April 15 from her Ebony cover shoot when Andre had to put her in bed.
    • @Maximthank you for such a thoughtful reply. I have printed it out so I have it with me as I watch most of the soap clips on the YT app on my TV. I've always wanted to get into Edge of Night, but I didn't no where to start.
    • Laugh-In was also before my time, but I loved watching her when Nick at Nite and TV Land ran repeats. She was also on Sesame Street for years. So vibrant. One of those people I've never heard bad word of. Sorry to hear that.
    • Amazing resource. Thank you! I'm pretty confident that she's worn it before. I'll look into it. That or I'm having some serious deja vu.
    • Other than Soapnet I am trying to remember if I ever even saw it in syndication. I know I saw Dallas, Knots and Dynasty in syndication before Soapnet.
