One of my favorite memories (although I suspect I'm exaggerating it) was when Pilar overheard Ivy and Rebecca talking trash about Theresa, declared "You bitches!" and got into a mini cat fight with them both.

So, we have Pilar (maid), Grace (innkeeper), Eve (doctor) and Beth (barista). Tabitha wouldn't have to work for a living, but maybe it would have been interesting in the early years, to keep up appearances, if she had some sort of seemingly altruistic job like volunteering. It would be a good way of keeping tabs on residents.

I mean I suppose I don't want to read too much into it but between his fondness for writing women obsessed with a man and the fact he neglected to build female characters a life outside of their romantic life, I am starting to suspect there is something to my supposition that Reilly was a bit misogynistic, at least in his writing.

Totally agree..and think of what fun Passions could have been if he had embraced his inner queen and just wrote a fun camp mess..instead of a camp mess which would be fun one moment and then the next would make me feel like someone using it as therapy!

I wish I had found Passions campy and fun like some did, but I found Reilly's relentless misogyny so disturbing. There was a real anger and mistrust of women in his writing. I always thought JFP's AW was bad, but Passions was on a whole other level.

I agree on that...the fun part was the supernatural aspects, i.e. Tabby's latest scheme and that was really the only part of it I watched (who coudlnt love a show that had a guest appearance from Dr. Bombay!) The model guys with shaved chests and jutting pecs and the women who were waiting around for a man part I skipped.

Meh. It wasn't so bad in the beginning. Everyone remembers the absolute train wreck trash it became though.

I loved the show from 1999-2001 and I won't apologize for it! lol

It also gets hate because it replaced Another World. For the record, I'd rather have Another World ... but I enjoyed Passions for the first few years. It hit at the right time for me. Nostalgia is strong

In the beginning, the show was kind of entertaining in a weird but fresh way. I often laughed out loud at the dialogue. I watched most of the first few years, but then it started to go off the rails...and that's saying a lot for Passions! The whole Vincent/blackmailer story towards the end was beyond offensive in so many ways. I agree that sometimes JER seemed to be working out some personal issues through his stories. The focus on religion and Catholicism, also on DAYS, sort of came off as a writer torn between his conflicting views.

It was such a unique...and yes, odd...show. I do wonder if it would be the best candidate for a revival especially on a streaming service targeting younger viewers...Peacock, for example. I think of the success of the Sabrina revival on Netflix since Passions exists in a similar world.

I think it's prime for a revival. It could work. It gets some nice traction on social media. Like others have said, the tweens are now in their 30s.

I agree on JER. I checked out around 2002, returned around 2005 but couldn't stick with it. It was soooo offensive, trashy, bad, etc. The list goes on. I was so turned off. Which sucked because I enjoyed the show FOR WHAT IT WAS, in the beginning, like you said. It was different.

I think what frustrates me about JER is he can actually structure a story but ... you know ...

I think a of those former viewers who "grew up" with Passions would watch...and if they do the combo with the supernatural, romance, and handsome guys, new teen viewers would watch.

I know the Daytime Emmys lowered the number of required episodes to be considered for awards to 35 episodes within a year. I think revivals should be thought of in a shorter format, less episodes per season to make them more financially viable.

Naw, I watched it from the beginning too and it was always bad to me. Repetitive dumb dialogue, sitcom lighting, bad acting, terrible plots. It's the first soap I ever saw premiere and I was so disappointed. I spent a lot of hours in the summer of 99 trying to get into this show.

    • Ah okay, thats what I thought. I was hoping I missed the announcement somewhere. Thanks for the clarification.
    • A new day in Salem… and a new day for Days.  I like the way everybody found out and absorbed the news about John’s death, and how they all eventually found their way to Marlena’s to offer their condolences. I’m not particularly sure why they waited until the next day to tell everybody but I don’t really mind it.  We finally got Roman’s perspective! His scenes with Kayla were one of the best parts of today. I’m glad that Roman is thankful for everything that John did for his kids. I agree with posters who said that he should’ve had a scene like this with John, but I’m happy we got this at least.  Julie was used very well today too. She’s definitely the best person for Marlena to have scenes with at the moment. Hopefully, Julie continues to be there for her. And yes, I totally agree with Marlena and Belle sending EJ away when he came to the apartment. I’m curious to see what’s going to happen to his and Belle’s relationship in the aftermath of all this. And, while I enjoyed most of Brady and Kristen’s scenes, I still think the ship has sailed for them. Hopefully, the aftermath of John’s death causes Brady to finally end this thing with her once and for all.  And, I see a lot of people were wearing some kind of shade of purple today.

    • Wow, I love that current and former actors are participating in this. I barely recognize Staci Greason! She looks fine, just very different. But I will be happy to hear anecdotes from her. I shipped RoJohn and Isabella hard back in the day, and I sobbed buckets in my dorm room at college when Izzy B passed. Honestly, I'm interested in everyone's stories. Drake seemed like he was well loved among the cast.
    • When she first appeared, I was sure she was setting Tyrell up for a prank. She was too much of a manic pixie dream girl- I wasn't surprised Tyrell also became suspicious. Now I'm not so sure. If Jessica genuinely likes Tyrell, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have started her out as a bully, then we see her gradually catch feelings for Tyrell.  The McBrides are definitely the "C" family of BTG. They always get last priority. There have been a few times where the Doug/Vanessa/Joey characters reference off screen conversations which seem too important to not show us. Like when Doug thanked Joey for giving him extra time to pay off the loan. When did that happen? Or when we abruptly moved from Vanessa/Joey at Uptown to Vanessa/Doug in the hotel room. The McBrides don't even have their own set - even though Vanessa is a realtor. It's a shame because I am a fan of the characters and actors.

I am also adjusting to KR as Ted but I feel that AM and MJ had way more chemistry as father and daughter than AM and KR. We saw Eva dream of having a real relationship with MJ's version of Ted for months so it's a bit of a bummer not to have that payoff with the original actor except for those scenes in MJ's last episode.  Something I noticed about Eva today is how she takes genuine delight in being a schemer. As badly as she wants to be a Richardson, she still has so much of her mom in her. It was jarring seeing her earnestly promise to steer clear of Leslie in her scene with Ted, then immediately switch attitudes when her mom showed up.  I'm very surprised with how quickly the accident story has been moving along. I was sure that it would be months if not years before people figured out it was Leslie on the motorcycle, not to mention responsible for the potassium overdose. I'm looking forward to seeing how MVJ and Guza avoid writing Leslie into a corner.  Finally, I have been loving the Articulettes story. Bonita Brisker was just the right amount of OTT - remember Sharon is supposed to be even more angry than Tracy is. If Sharon didn't come in swinging, people would say she fell flat. The way Sharon and Tracy describe the breakup is so Supremes-meet-Original Recipe Destiny's Child. I get the sense that MVJ is re-writing the Return to Love Tour as a roman a clef, and I love it. I'm looking forward to finding out what the secret they share is. If Dante Green is as shady as Berry Gordy was, it's something dark. If/when they go through with the reunion, I expect Dante to show up and claim to own the Articulettes trademark in a Lou Pearlman-esque twist.
    • Other than hanging out with Liz, all of Lucky's stories have been stalled out or dropped; the relationship with his son; his wanderlust. He hasn't been involved in any of the action/adventure or con artist stuff. I don't think he's even had a scene with Sidwell since the latter came to town. He's a real after thought. I doubt he's long for the show.
