I've always felt the same way. Judi would have been good as Nancy, since Paulina basically turned into her and she and Rachel were as close as sisters would be.

I don't think this was posted. Linda Dano has a few comments. And Victoria Wyndham seems to be...having a very "up" day...

Meanwhile, 12 hours to tape a one-hour program? You know, maybe live and live-on-tape had their merits after all.

Prime time shows take between 7-10 days to shoot a 1 hour (42 min no commercials) show. Daytime is positively rushed in comparison.

I'm pretty sure that today's show's aren't given 12 hours to tape an episode.

Was Ms. Wyndham just a nightmare behind the scenes? I seem to have totally missed the lore on the behind the scenes action on the show - I only really remember Linda Dano saying it was a family out there in Brooklyn (just as she did in that clip).

I'm not sure. There was a lot of discussion about that for a week or two last month.

It's interesting how different the vibes were bts on P & G soaps. It seemed like GL was a fun place to work with fun character types, ATWT seemed more stuffy, while AW seemed close knit (they were isolated out in Brooklyn so that could be why).

I think Carmen Duncan was pretty well accepted as Iris on AW. The fact viewers knew Beverlee was not returning and Iris was such a dynamic character helped. Also the time b/w the two actresses helped and Carmen was a good actress also.

I feel like they must have been setting up Alan taking over for Amanda as even under Marland's pen, Amanda was being pushed as overly focused on Mark, but a part of me does wonder if Marland was setting Alan up for the same permanent redemption he later gave John Dixon. Marland did often believe in healing (religious elements aside he would have been a good fit for Another Life).
As I think you've said before, the biggest misstep in that period was his lack of interest in Philip. I suppose that was done to take the time to recast Philip, but it just makes those few years seem even more like Alan being placed into someone's fan fiction.

I remember some support for Drew that went on for a while but you're right, Chad did get a positive response.
And RKK is a good choice. I guess it helped that even though Peter's Bo had started the love story with Carly, he was still identified with Hope.

One Life to Live Tribute Thread

I have not advanced very far but I did find some other material and was actually quite impressed:
1) Tina discovering her past lives and going klepto around Llanview had me absolutely rolling, especially poor Megan demanding Luna’s help.
2) Viki using her German to expose Cain was absolutely great - but was there any build-up? Did Viki just enter this room and boom while Megan got a phone call?
3) I also get to see Blair getting her dual apartments for her “jewelry business” so probably for Addie.
Looking forward to seeing more of this era I have long ignored!

Speaking of Gh's Michael, wasn't Chad Duell pretty much universally accepted right away? I know people were sad about Garrett getting canned, but CD stepped into heavy material right off the bat and did well and was praised. Obviously, things went downhill lol.
On the Days side of things RKK as Bo and I suppose you can count Drake as Roman 2 even if that was retconned back.

A great choice.
I'd be curious to know that too - I imagine there had to be some backlash (even Meg Ryan, who was huge in story very quickly in her run, said in an article at the time that she got a negative response initially due to how well-liked Suzanne Davidson was), but she seemed to settle in. I'd say the same with Gregg Marx but he had a buffer in poor Jason Kincaid.
There was a three-year gap between Robin and Elaine, which probably helped. She seemed to be accepted, even if Dorian didn't really hit her stride until Gottlieb arrived. Then she was well-placed enough that viewers struggled to accept Strasser back in the role.

Sometimes I think that not only is Budig not appropriate choice for Taylor age and vibe (more like a Bridget or a Katie if you ask me) wise... part of me can't accept her, because Krista Allen left a big mark. That woman just clicked right in... and I didn't see it coming. And that was a ROLE that was nearly impossible to recast. Hunter Tylo was universally known as Taylor. But then she stepped in and it just worked. She could make gold out of straw (dialogue) and gave Taylor this feeling of authenticity, sarcasm and wit... that was lacking in the late Hunter Tylo days (Tylo was only given unhinged material by that time... which was embarrassing). So a part of me will always reject Budig, because I'm still not recovered after getting our second Taylor snatched out like that. It's not fair to her (Budig)... but I can't change how I feel.
