I have thought that too! But gosh, Frons controls lighting design now too? GH doesn't even have lighting design, really. Its like some drunk teamster randomly hung some spot lights.

I picture JFP on the phone all day or at a computer doing budgeting and listening to Frons bitch, as well as her greedy male actors. I guess her visual and musical influences that were always clear on her shows has just fallen by the wayside.

The rumor must be true that Frons spend alot of time at GH. Valentini is a master budgeter and controls OLTL's musical and visual aesthetic with an iron fist. He is the one responsible for a new band on the show every week. (Which is not my cup of tea, but whatever)

They won't even need to redo sets if the lighting is vastly improved. I think at Y&R they did have to repaint some things but that was about it. I linked that article a few weeks ago.

I am far from saying Fros is working lighting at GH, lol. However i do believe perhaps she has been stripped of so much power she kinda let it all go to hell. I dont know how that would help her, but it happens when moral at the workplace is down. I mean -- look how bad the actors on GH have become in the past few years. Its not because they suck, its because they are uninspired and prob hate the job. sad.

I do think that between the bits of times Guza has been gone and a few interviews if Jill had the power she should as EP at GH then actors like Greg V and Rick H would be on more, the hospital group would be a bigger part of the show than the mob, among various other things.

I am sure Fronsie tries to interfear at OLTL too, but fact is Jill is a women in a very male dominated club over at GH. Frons, Guza, Benard, Geary, Burton... they run GH. its sad really, but true.

Thats why i want a new head of abc, a new HW at gh, and some actors to be let go before even thinking about replacing Jill.

I hate to say this but GH has a much more consistently talented cast than OLTL's. It is a shame that GH's potential is so wasted.

JFP must hate taking all the blame and dealing with guys like Steve Burton and Maurice. It sickened me when Steve Burton's fan girls came here to manipulate the polls.

I do not get his appeal. AT-TALL.

I like Burton -- but i dont love him.

and lets not leave Geary blameless in this either. Hes just as bad, IMHO. The three of them could all use a good firing.

I do agree about GH vs OLTL's cast. GH's is by far better and stronger all around. However at this point very few people even try.

I have to agree with that. If JFP was more in control, I believe we would see less Mob and more Hospital. I just have that feeling. Guza is the mob freak and since he is credited as coordinating producer, I think he controls the lighting to correspond with his tragic writing.

Just like at GL, the Spaulding's were very prominent during JFP's reign. I think the same would be for the Quartermaine's, but it was Guza who wanted to kill them all off.

I agree too, if JFP had the power she used to wield at her old shows the Hospital would have a stronger presence and the Mob would be secondary. She also would have fired Steve Burton by now (JFP isn't impressed with him, one, little, bit)...JFP is a bitch, there is no doubt about it, but she can also be very nice and very good at executing a vision.

That's the problem with GH: the vision. Guza is a bigger part of the problem than JFP...but even then...it's FRONS who is the iron fist at GH. He's just IN LOVE with Benard and Burton and the rest of the male chauvinist pig crowd.

At ABC Daytime the problems start from the top down.

As much as I wouldn't want JFP anywhere near Y&R or B&B (actually scratch that, she'd probably do some good at B&B) I am glad that she's probably gleeful right now with the move to HD and the new hospital set.

One other thing: Bradford Anderson is one of the ugliest people to EVER appear on television and his asinine line reading is excruciating to endure. His undereye bags can only be solved by surgery...but then you've got the rest of his face to contend with!

    • I'm following the news in Los Angeles at https://laist.com (independent public radio and news) They had up-to-the minute accurate info during the wildfires in January.
    • That's a bit murky since that happened during a writers' strike. Assuming Kristen Marie had a 2-year contract she left about when her contract would have expired and Sharlene and Josie showed up right before that. Lemay was officially credited as HW from September 1988 but it seems very probable that his anticipated tenure influenced events that happened during the strike which started in April.
    • I've seen so many posters over the years who are bright, creative, well-versed in soap history, and who care deeply about the integrity of the genre. I'd put the shows' chances in their hands a lot faster than I would allow any of the "usual suspects" to take control of the dramas they've already helped decimate. When I returned to university in the 1980s, I created a bible for a new soap and presented it in my screenwriting class. It was in reaction to how badly I saw the network shows being butchered at the time. The creative process was thrilling; a total joy, and I still smile when I remember the positive feedback I received from the professor and my fellow students. I was used to seeing written commentary from professors on my work. This one wrote me a long, complimentary note on the final page of the bible, but also graded it 97%, A+. I was beaming ear to ear for days!

    • Thanks. I do wonder if Rose was meant to be more given the caliber of actress they hired. I remembered Sara and Peggy staying longer as they were still on when Soapnet started their repeats. I wonder if that was part of the reason they brought Jake's brother in.
    • Speculation about Missy Reeves' potential evolution on basic civil rights doesn’t change my opinion of her. My view is shaped entirely by her public social media presence—which I find unpalatable—and I have no interest in learning more beyond that. I simply liked Jennifer’s hair and dress. That’s as far as my admiration goes.

    • Cheryl was gone before Lemay came back but I agree with your thinking that he would rather a character from a family he introduced to the show than a family he did not originate.  I remember reading somewhere in the early 90's probably after DS left as writer, their was an either a writer or a producer who made a comment that their intent was bring the McKinnon family back to AW.  Would have made sense for the newer viewers from the 80's.  Much like Lemay's attempt to bring the Frames back from his writing in the 70's in his 1988 return
    • DePriest left in January 1988. According to the AWHP, Rose last appeared nearly a year before in February 1987 while both Sara and Peggy appeared as late as October 1987.
    • Annie was not brought in as an antagonist for Reva. Reva wasn’t even on the canvas when Annie first appeared in late 1994.
    • The speculation……….very entertaining.
    • I had forgotten that several Days stars came out strong against Melissa. Good for them!
