Y&R: Week of January 26, 2008

Kevin Schmidt is a great little actor. I want to say he's the future of Y&R but in the current climate? I don't dare.

And Brad's scenes with everybody on Wednesday -- Ashley, Victor, Faketoria, Nikki and Traci were so good. DD and BM had such lovely scenes together. As for BrAsh, I cannot believe Ash is selling Brad down the river like this. I actually got chills at this part:

Brad: So did I just hear that right? A family portrait? What are you trying to do, Ash? Rewrite history? Do I have to remind you again and again, I am Abby's father. I'm her father.

Ashley: I know that. And so is Victor. And he has every right to have a relationship with her, Brad. Look, I know this isn't easy for you, and I feel for you.

Brad: You know what? Don't. Don't make this about me. It's not about me. It's about Abby. It's about what's best for our daughter. The kind of values that we want to instill in her. What are you teaching her? That--that relationships can just be cast aside like an old pair of jeans that have gone out of style? Or is it that--that the father who buys her the most gifts gets the coveted title of Dad?

Team Brad!

P.S.: I'm sad that Brad may be leaving but so far Y&R are writing him a send-off.

Sorry guys but WHAT A SNOOZE.

I hold Y&R at a higher bar productionwise but this lake/Brad/Noah stuff was like something on ABC.

What absolute boring production this week. I enjoy the writing and the parallel with Cassie- but the plot was not served well at all productionwise. Boring, uninspired, and lazy.

Sheesh.

Hey Rhiannon- She rings like a bell in the night and who will be her lover-

Its Botox. They need to dump Sharon Case's head in some powder before shooting.

Nicole Kidman Syndrome.

I have had Botox and it made my forehead tight and slick as that icy river Noah fell in. lolllllllll

They have been funkifying Sharon with those awful chunky ass necklaces too.

They didn't go all out with the production, which sucked.

However, I did enjoy the episode overall. As mentioned the parallel with Cassie was a great touch, as were the flashbacks they used when Sharon as writing her letter.

I also thought Joshua Morrow actually attempted to act in this episode, which he hasn't done in FOREVER. He wasn't great, but he tried.

I have never been a Morrow fan. I hold him in the same esteem as David Fumero. Guy who got VERY lucky.

However, Nick and Sharon- I like them together. Very believable as a couple who married young, ect...

Without the Cassie aspect and the very well written scene with Phyllis setting that whole parallel up, this episode would have been the worst in a year. Considering how good it should have been- I am not impressed. But hell, its January.

yay another Brad/Sharon fan. I loved her and Nick and was sad to see them end, but the only good thing out of that would have been seeing her with Brad. I cant beleive they tortured us with Nick/Phyllis for all these years but couldnt throw the Brad/Sharon fans a bone. I hated when she took that horrible detour with Jack which never should have happened. Theres no need to get rid of Brad bc theres unresolved issues with Sharon that can and should still be explored

    • In the current environment, while it's small, there is a crumb of good news: Apparently, San Antonio voted for a DEMOCRATIC mayor, Gina Ortiz, beating the "right-hand man" of Gov. Greg Abbott, former Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos. https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5337199-gina-ortiz-jones-wins-san-antonio/
    • Love this! You are both adorable. Wow
    • I have not gone back to watch much of 1987, but from what I've seen lately, it doesn't feel like the writers or producers had any sort of plan. The show feels as if it's constantly in flux.  I will give it credit for this. It's watchable for the most part minus Lisa/Jamie which I find nearly unwatchable now.   I don't find Cheryl mousy. I think she has a lot of quiet strength, but she was saddled with the Scott romance which the writers did not invest in. She had a good friendship with Julie (also criminally underused), and her interactions with Ada were enjoyable as well. I also like Layman, but Spencer was extremely talented and when Cass returns, Schnetzer and Spencer have some wonderful scenes. Spencer also fits in with Alexander, Hogan, and Marie.  I'd forgotten just how much I missed seeing Wallingford. IT was so good to see him again. Even when they didn't have a major plot, Felicia/Cass/Wallingford/Mitch always brings a smile to my face.
    •   Dani’s cute ass party planner. He gave me some tea but I was so drunk I don’t remember it.
    • NBC must have been grateful to have LHOTP, it's only hit and still strong after several seasons. Their next established show was Rockford Files at 45th. They didn't develop any comedies and relied on movies and mini series  which didnt establish viewer loyalty and habits. Their only new hit was mid season's Project UFO which debuted Feb up against Rhoda/On Our Own on CBS and How the West Was Won on ABC. It opened with a strong 36 share beating CBS and close to ABC as HTWWW had a 36 share over 3 hours. The next week UFO saw a respectable 32 share, then a 31 so it was slipping. A 28 share followed but a few weeks later it jumped back up to a 34. So no blockbuster but compared to what else they had, there was potential, So next season NBC sent it to Thursday up against Mork and The Waltons and it bombed.  They were smart to see potential in Chips, which took off on Saturdaysnext season. ABC was on a roll with Love Boat, 3's Company, Taxi, Eight is Enough adding to their hits. Their only real flops were Redd Foxx and San Pedro Beach Bums, an Aaron Spelling misfire. Like Redd Foxx, Harvey Korman was lured to ABC but his series was a filler that did well but was considered a time slot hit. Nancy Walker and Rob Reiner were also given series on the philosophy that not only were they popular names, their absence from popular shows like Sanford, Rhoda and All in the Family might weaken those shows. CBS were relying on old favorites. Betty White was strong the first few weeks then faded. Incredible Hulk was their strongest newbie. It was lucky for CBS that NBC was doing so badly or else some of their weaker shows would have really suffered.
    • That outfit looks like something Martin would wear lol.
    • Omg not we both ran into people from the show this weekend!
    • I guess he was let out the gates, because he's outside.
    • Yup.  You can hate John all you want, but like seriously he was the cornerstone of the show for years.  So he should get a long ass funeral and burial and all the things because Drake and John deserve that.
