To me, it has to be a soap with alot of gay actors/actresses.

With OLTL's Carlivati and Valentini being openly gay, and Tuc Watkins- who is also openly gay- Its not OLTL

AMC- Nah

ATWT- No way. Obviously

B&B? No way.

Y&R has a few gay actors. And Paul Rauch IS old school. I can't see Maria Arena Bell approving of such demoralizing behavior though.

GH to me has always seemed like the biggest bunch of closet cases on daytime. LOLLL

Days- That place sounds messed up as it is..

GL- I just don't feel Ellen being this terrible. It doesn't make sense to me.

I am thinking Days or GH.

Good analysis. I think it's Days or GH too.

I wish GL had gone ahead with the lesbian relationship but am okay with their not doing it because it would have been a big risk. I think Crystal Chappell would have knocked it out of the park.

I also hope Roger Howarth does leave ATWT! Paul/Meg being on every day is the only really bad part of ATWT right now. Most of the rest of the show is great.

No one seems to have commented on the Richard Mensing thing yet ... Why was he fired?

I agree with you on the GL/lesbian thing. It wouldn't have sense, and I thought that everyone pretty much agreed on that when the thing was brought up a few months ago. It just wouldn't add up at all.

Really? Damn, I'm always the last to know everything! He never gets me pinging at all, but if he is, that's all varieties of sex wrapped up in a hot Australian package.

Why an "Obviously" for ATWT? I can see them keeping actors in the closet simply because of Nuke. People no longer whisper about Van anymore, so maybe for some reason they're desperate to keep that quiet? And isn't there stuff said about Michael Park?

And who at Y&R is gay? I may be too curious for my own good lol

I'm not so sure. He made it very clear early on that he came to AMC to work for Julie again. That was the definitive reason.

As for Lisa Hesser, I do not have much faith in an old Sunset Beach/Passions producer. She had a brief run at AMC as a coordinating producer under Felicia Behr and but then it looks like Francesca James gave her the boot when she took over as EP.

Well we have no idea what his contract situation is. I would assume he signed a 3 year contract in 2007? Unless he has an out. I personally still think JHC isn't going anywhere, but I could be wrong. I just again do not see the point. This Lisa woman I doubt would bring anything else to the table, unless like you say she would be better and slashing the budget. I think the production standards have somewhat improved all things considering since Pratt began his work as a consulting producer. Since Julie and Francesca are such good pals I am surprised she never got a more permanent job on AMC... maybe Francesca did not want it? She has just directed the occasional episode.

I have heard Francesca loves directing and not interested in executive producing. She and Julie are very very good friends. Wendy Riche, Francesca, Julie, Claire Labine was GH's dream team. It was such a special time for GH. I really miss Wendy Riche and would love to see her return to daytime in any capacity.

I am not sure that Lisa De Cozette can bring anything new to the show either, but Julie hasn't so why not give someone else a try. Just to avoid trying to do better to keep one actor is not a good excuse at all. We have to think about what is best for the show overall and getting a new producer to me is worth the loss of Thorsten Kaye or almost any actor except for the ones who are originals - and then I would have to evaluate it. I all for what is the best for the show and that is why some of the quibbles against AMC recently aren't even given credence by me because they are for individual or couple reasons and not for the best of the show.

Right now Pratt is looking at the picture of the show as a whole and not at just one fan base. It is about damn time.

*************************

As to the Olivia/Natalia pairing, I am like AMS I don't remember anyone hearing that they were in favor of it. And now on several boards they are raking Ellen Wheeler over the coals for scrapping it.

It makes me wonder what people would have said if she had given it the green light. I imagine that it would have been used as another way that she was destroying the show.

As for me I don't care why she stopped it. As I said it was a bad decision to even go there anyway. It was out of nowhere.

    • Did I ever say that? I actually don't want to, but I have no problem doing so when I feel it's truly warranted. Case in point. I'll be more respectful about how you're involving yourself in these kind of discussions when you consider doing the same. Believe me when I tell you the way you attempt to dress up this attitude has placated no one, and this is not a minority forum opinion. It is easy enough, for example, to simply say that "I think many of us have underrated JFP's skills as a woman producer in an overly misogynistic industry". It's a lot easier than spending paragraph after paragraph amusedly shaking one's head while talking down to the clueless proles of SON about their blinkered, reductive opinions. And yes, I am saying that many of us have spoken up crediting Phelps for the skills she obviously has as a technical whiz and line producer. There's nothing out of turn about acknowledging that many posters know where she excelled. Or talking about where she clearly (for many of us) didn't. You don't have to agree, but you could try listening to someone other than yourself.
    • It’s a recurring tension in Daytime: the willingness to take risks can fuel a show's longevity, but the actresses themselves often bear the long-term consequences of audience backlash.
    • I pray Eva never lets Dana back into her life, because she deserves better. Dana isn't a mother, nor is she a parent.
    • Daphnee's performance very much reminded me of Anna Holbrook's on Another World when Sharlene was dealing with John and Felicia's affair. Angry but well controlled and believable. A good start for an Emmy reel. If there is one thing an evil Black mother is going to do, it is lock you out the house. Eva shouldn't have even bothered to go home.  Leslie calling Martin "Mr. President" was interesting. How much exactly does she know about the family and has someone higher up sent her to cause trouble? Anita's speech to Leslie was dignified like Geraldine Whitney (EON) or Kim Hughes (ATWT) would have gone off on somebody.
    • Thanks for posting this, fascinating read. It's clear how ambivalent Wyndham is about Justine. IMO, it reads like she agrees that the end of the storyline was bad, but reading between the lines I think she thought she was doing good work for the meat of it....which was not the case. As bad as the writing for most of that story was, it was truly made worse by her embarrassing performance. After the story concluded she kept falling back into Justine ticks, when she wasn't phoning he scenes in. Not to play Freud, but was it to tr*ll her critics?
    • I better hear "The Emmy goes to Ambyr Michelle" come Emmy time lol
