Lauren Boebert automatic recount

https://www.cpr.org/2022/12/01/state-orders-recount-boebert-frisch-race-district-3/

Dec. 1, 2022
State-mandated recount ordered in Boebert-Frisch race to represent Colorado District 3

Colorado’s Secretary of State’s office has ordered a mandatory recount of the election results between Republican Lauren Boebert and Democrat Adam Frisch in the 3rd congressional district race.

The recount is required by state law. While Boebert proclaimed victory and Frisch conceded the race 10 days after Election Day, there are currently 550 votes separating the two. That translates to a 0.34 percent vote differential. State statute requires a mandatory recount when a race is within 0.5 percent.

“The results of the District 3 race reinforce the fact that every vote matters,” said Secretary of State Jena Griswold in a statement. “Colorado voters have made their voices heard, and I am ordering this recount in accordance with Colorado law to confirm the will of the voters.”

All 27 counties within the sprawling district will work with bipartisan canvas boards to test tabulation equipment and then recount all ballots in the same way they were counted during the election.

In a statement today, Frisch noted the recount is mandatory and said it “is one of the measures that protects and helps ensure the sanctity of Colorado elections and the decision to conduct a recount is (rightfully so) not influenced by any campaign or candidate.”

The recount, which must be completed by Dec. 13, as required by law, is not expected to change the outcome of the race. Recent recounts have shifted no more than a handle of votes.

That conclusion was the reason Frisch conceded the race on Nov. 18, saying it would be unethical for his campaign to continue accepting money from supporters. “Please save your money for your groceries, your rent, your children, and for other important causes in organizations,” he said that day.

Frisch said his concession last month “remains sincere but has no legal implication —  under no circumstances did I want it to stop (which it legally cannot) this recount of votes."

Still, the Colorado Republican Party blamed Frisch for the recount and not state law. Chairwoman Kristi Burton Brown has called on Frisch to withdraw from the race that ended last month.

“He has the unilateral power to prevent wasting Colorado taxpayer money on a frivolous recount if he would just do the honorable thing and withdraw from the race,” she said in a statement.

The closeness of the race surprised many after redistricting solidified the district’s red lean, with a 9-point advantage for Republicans.

Frisch has filed paperwork to run again in 2024.

It’s good to know that Rep. Underwood is being recognized for how effective she has been in terms of doing her job, unlike those who are always on camera yet never seem to get any legislation passed.

I volunteered for her election in 2018. She came to a meeting i was at to speak outside of her district to try and gain more volunteers and raise money.  75% of us volunteered and yes really volunteered. We organized weekly phone banks for her and some of us canvassed. I will never forget the Sunday before election day I was canvassing with a newbie in the pouring rain in Plano, a far west Chicago suburb.  We went to one house that had a confederate flag in front of it. Could have skipped it. The woman we spoke to there had already voted - for Underwood.  She said she didn't give a damn what her husband said about it. Her words.

Underwood is a fantastic rep. I think while the GOP keeps targeting her, the people in the district know it and know how hard she works.  She works her district  -  its geographically large. She does townhalls in her district in key areas every year.

From one repulsive, morally bankrupt con to another - Bimbert is already trying to get hearings for Tara Reade against Joe Biden, with Tara jumping into the replies. I'm sure Biden would love to get her under oath...

@JaneAustenThat's a wonderful story. I sometimes feel like I don't take enough time to appreciate the Democrats in Congress who just want to do their jobs and help people.

That’s a great story @JaneAusten, it’s so affirming and a reminder that there are not just politicians in Congress, there are also genuine public servants.

My mother is one of Senator Chris Murphy’s constituents. He works hard. His office once helped her with an issue, it was relatively small but but it was time sensitive, vexing and a source of frustration for her. I reached out on her behalf and not long after, his office reached out and worked with her until the issue was resolved. Whenever she sees his name on the ballot, she fills it in!

The media doesn’t do this either, which is the larger problem.

They are afraid of being seen as fawning over “the libs” but they can easily do this with Congresspeople of all political stripes who are actually doing genuinely good work for their constituents. Sometimes even on the local level, media neglects to cover this. Of course, part of the problem is how little local media outlets there are left (newspapers, independent broadcasters not owned at least in part by media behemoths).

I posted the details about the recount there.

I have to appreciate the *details* of what it says in that article - the statements by her opponent Democrat Adam Frisch.  It sounds like he genuinely cares.  And this part:

Quoting article snippet:
That conclusion [that a recount would be unlikely to change the results] was the reason Frisch conceded the race on Nov. 18, saying it would be unethical for his campaign to continue accepting money from supporters. “Please save your money for your groceries, your rent, your children, and for other important causes in organizations,” he said that day.
Frisch said his concession last month "remains sincere but has no legal implication —  under no circumstances did I want it to stop (which it legally cannot) this recount of votes."
End quote.

He clearly *wants* to win, but he wants people to save their money and energy for where it can be used best.  Seems unselfish to me. And the article concludes by saying he has already filed to run again for Congress in 2024.

Realistically, recounts usually change results by only a handful of ballots. But yeah wouldn't it be amazing if they find the 550 votes to overturn Boebert's win?  Unlikely but you never know.  I'm glad this is an automatically-generated District-wide recount that is careful and (hopefully) unbiased, so that integrity is upheld.

That being said, I can't believe people voted for her.  Sigh.

Sometimes I forget how many of the leaders and activists who cling to the far left are desperate to push as hard as they can towards Trump and other extremists - even as doing so would just give the death blow to unions. They do not care. This guy is just posting outright fanfic bullshit when he's not cheering union leaders going on Steve Bannon's hate show.

Raphael Warnock Volunteer Shot While Going Door to Door in Savannah—Police

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/raphael-warnock-volunteer-shot-while-going-door-to-door-in-savannah-police/ar-AA14OHzA

I volunteered my time with the Warnock campaign this past Friday and I had a great time talking with Georgians on the phone. The most I talked to lived in either in the Macon, Norcross, or Kennewsaw area for the most part. But, I had a couple of them in Franklin Springs and Athens too. From the ones that I talked to, they voted Republican down the ballot ticket, but have been disturbed by Walker. Some felt that he lacked experience and others felt that he was a liar. I had maybe a small handful of people who either hung up on me or they called me a socialist and then they hung up. It was fun though. I like talking to people anyway, so it was cool to listen to others and how they felt about politics and government in general.
