Yeah, I don't think it was the affair so much as the nature of the affair, the woman in question - his biographer, who had unprecedented access to him in the field and possibly his own documents and emails. That is a security breach.

That's pretty much how I feel about America these days. If I didn't have family here I'd move to Australia in a heartbeat. My company has an office in Sydney. Although maybe our new Amsterdam office would be more my speed.

It's interesting living in these times. I remember when Obama was elected every talking head shoved a microphone into the face of every black person they could find and asked, "Did you ever think you'd see a black President in your lifetime?" I can honestly say I never considered it but the thing I truly never thought I'd see in my lifetime is the open virulent racism. I'm not naive, mind you, but the right wing in this country has gone to places so ugly that I couldn't have fathomed it. I never would've thought that I would witness the kind of attempted voter suppression we saw in this last campaign. Never.

THe other thing that boggles my mind is the absolute unwillingness of neocons to accept objective facts. That's why birtherism makes me so crazy. All the evidence is there: the birth certificate, the birth announcement in the Honolulu paper, the certification by the state of Hawaii, etc.. there is LITERALLY no reason for people to question the place and circumstances of Obama birth except hate and willing blindness. I'll never understand people who choose to be that stupid.

The scary thing for me is that I never thought I could hate so many of my fellow Americans this much. Yeah, I have no problem admitting that I hated Timothy McVeigh or Eric Rudolph but I could tell myself that they were anomalies but when I look at Donald Trump, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, John Sununu, the Koch Brothers, Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, Sarah Palin, etc., etc., etc., I have to admit that they aren't anomalies but in fact they represent mainstream conservative thought. It's scary because I have conservative friends and more and more I look at them and wonder if they secretly feel the same way.

I have never considered leaving this country, especially because I would never let those disgusting excuses for human beings ever have more of this country. I see them as caught fish flapping around on the shore desperately gasping for their last breath as the majority of this country continues to move forward leaving their racism, bigotry, homophobia, selfishness, hatred of those who have less, and their un-Christian ugliness in the past.

One of the FOX pundits said the news about Petraeus broke weeks ago but the media kept quite because they wanted to ensure Obama's re-election.

Rubio is suddenly their answer to diversity because now they can't shut up about his rising star.

Sean Hannity has the most convenient wakeup call on immigration ever.

http://www.politico....078.html?hp=l15

They're now all having light bulb moments because one of the FOX'ers just said they have no problem with amnesty and should make illegals legal but should withhold citizenship which is another issue in itself since many immigrants, especially those who came here as kids, do want that pathway to citizenship. They're just repackaging the "separate but equal" mentality.

And in bizarre news, Rachel Maddow just devoted an entire segment to making a cocktail. blink.png

Ultimately it's the person in charge who's responsible and that's Obama. Most presidents have accepted responsibility for events as such in the pas.. What happens is those that serve who failed ultimately pay at some point. I'm sure the affair, after hearing the details, was going to end up being a problem but there is no question the CIA failed in terms of Libya and not having the intelligence to counter or prevent what happened.

The president is responsible for a grown man cheating on his wife while director of the CIA? Please explain this to me. Because I've heard this man get blamed for really horrible stuff, but i didn't know it was his fault the General cheated on his wife and put the CIA under scrutiny.

There is now a woman who was fired from her job for tweeting "Well...4 more years of the n-----s. Somebody should just assassinate him!" She was interview by local news and said she wasn't a racist. Then in a later interview said that if the president were to be assassinated, it really would bother her at all.

Well, it's going to REALLY bother her now...because the Secret Service is now investigating this woman.

I was talking to a friend who was saying that she wonders what we can do to up turnout for the 2014 and I told her one word.

"Pot."

If the Dems want to turn the base out for the midterms then there needs to be a marijuana bill in at least every swing state. Personally, It's very important to me that in 2014 we manage to get rid of our governor and especially our Secretary of State. It would also be nice to turn the statehouse a little bluer so that we can stop getting an abortion bill every week. The best way to do that is to put a pot initiative on the ballot. The right wing has been using gay marriage and Sharia Law to turn out their base for years. For the left, weed is our Sharia law.

Yes! I have a lot of friends in Washington and Colorado who mainly went out to vote for their pot and while they were at it in WA for marriage, for Obama, and then just went dem down the line because while they are not into politics at all, they know they dont like the republican party based on what they do see about them. putting pot on the ballott will help get more people to the polls to vote, and likely dem.

There's another one?!?!?!?! blink.pngohmy.png

Yup! Jeb. I think there are quite a few more, lol/

Sure the tea partiers want government to stay out of your business until it comes to freedom of liberty issues like who you want to marry and having control over your own body, where they feel its a-ok for the government to stick their nose into those things. Funny isn't it.

So true!!

I wonder if people really realize the consequences that hate like this can lead to. We had a prime minister, Olof Palme, who was the target for the same kind of hate rhetoric from right wing extremists. He was murdered.....

You would think that right wing hatred would have gone down a little. Nope. This country has a horrible history of reacting with violence and hatred after political elections. The good thing though, the silver lining? That the majority of Americans have decided to move onward from that past.

I just heard the Senator of South Carolina say the reason he and America like Canadians (unlike people from the South of the border) is because they come in the month of March, spend tons of money, and then swim back up stream. Among other things.... "they know when to leave". This is one of the most vile things The Republicans have spewed against Hispanics.

We like Canadians now? I remember conservatives spewing nothing but bile about them for eons. Is this because of Stephen Harper? Or is it because America now has gay marriage (in some places) and the world's most liberal pot laws (in a few states) so we can't pretend we're different?

It's hard to keep track isn't it? We still hate Canada because of their health system but we like them more than Mexico because of immigration.

According to the right: USA > Canada >Mexico. Of course these people believe that USA > every other country in the world so it's really it's not who we like, it's who we hate less.
