I get your concerns but I think people are giving Manchin too much influence here.  The GOP lost the senate some are assuming because of the lack of action on the $2000 check. I am not going to fret over this. I think Biden is going to get what he wants whatever that happens to be. I actually read over some of his initial economic plan and I am actually pretty pleased. And those concerns Manchin claims to have can shake out if everyone gets a payment and it's reconciled at tax time, because lots of people never got any help because it was based on 2019 income. And yeah excluding people on SS is a no go.

I am more concerned about his comments on the filibuster which is a relic and should go. And I think Biden has mixed feelings on it.

I imagine leadership has lots of carrots and sticks they can use on him.

I wish they would consider, before singling him out and putting his name this way, that he's going to get a lot of threats and attacks. I hope he was at least consulted beforehand.

Wasn't he the one in the Buzzfeed article that asked to have his name held for fear of retaliation?

I see your point.

Yes, I agree about the filibuster. I guess it will take a few cycles for that to change. Hopefully this put Democrats in a decent position in 2022 to expand on their numbers.

Oh I hadn't heard that. Geez. I hope not. I think people don't get just how many psychos out there do not see these officers as any type of heroes. They are targets. Even to members of Congress.

If he was the officer I think it'd be getting push on social media to take his name off - I'm not seeing any.

"a bunch of redneck hillbilly white trash."

That's what they looked like, how they dressed. I think they did that as a ruse.

They actually had money and expensive equipment, and flew in from all over the US, and stayed at fancy hotels in Washington DC.

They tried to give off an atmosphere of being poor hillbillies. They seemed to act like frat boys partying and doing pranks, that you would just wink at.  But that's not who they were.

It was highly organized and meticulously plotted.

Yeah I read one of them is the son of a millionaire

I really hated that myself.  His name is now all over the place.

Michigan Republican Congressman Peter Meijer comments on how they were in the middle of debating objections to the Arizona electoral college votes when the mob attacked.

After the building was cleared, Congress resumed debate on the Arizona electoral college votes.

They were now going to vote:
yes - "agree with rejecting" the Arizona electoral votes.

or no - "disagree with rejecting" the Arizona electoral votes.

He says that one of his colleague Republican Congressional reps was about to vote to

"agree with the objection" ... even though it was obvious that the objections were unfounded.
The colleague wanted to vote no to the objection, but was going to vote yes anyhow.

The colleague told Meijer that he/she/they was so terrorized by what had just happened that the colleague feared for his/her/their family. So out of fear, the colleague voted to agree with the objection, without wanting to.

You know, after listening to this speech by Elizabeth Warren and the one by Tammy Duckworth (both of whom were made after the riots), it's hard to understand how the senators and congressmen/women who kept up their treasonous objections to the electoral votes even after what happened can look themselves in the mirror.

Telegram offers the possibility of a tantalizing "backdoor" to the Russian FSB. I expect Vladimir Vladimirovic to be doubling up on applying the pressure to jimmy that backdoor open.
