I feel like the cult mentality has only worsened since that time as you have people wearing Maxi pads and garbage bags in his honor. That year also makes this year seem even more ominous to me because he only very narrowly lost while presiding over a pandemic. Now he is tied at worst, with a history of overperforming polls, while Harris is drowned out by everyone and everything (him, Musk, Cuban, Liz Cheney, a bad jobs report [there are reasons for that but those aren't what will get headlines, etc.). So much is pushing him the way he wants to go in these last days.

I don't even know if the Cheney stuff hurts him because many morons on the left and the right will probably see this as him being "the peace candidate," and any time violence is riled up in voters, he tends to benefit.

Speaking of which...America, 2024:

You pretty much believe that nothing can damage or hurt Trump. He is this Lex Luther type of  businessman/president who succeeds because of Forrest Gump like circumstances and luck that always benefits him in some way. Everything and everybody around him is his Brain and Penny to his Inspector Gadget and is helping him succeed despite being unaware of it

Oh, they're aware of it - a lot of people profit from him being in power. That's the worst part - people know exactly what he is, and they still enable him or think they can will him into being what they want him to be.

I think some things damage Trump temporarily but in the end they fade, because of the double standards the public and the media provide. He hired a comedian to make racist remarks at a hate rally and in less than a week the narrative is Trump triumphantly defending millions of Americans while working as a garbageman. And other than responding to what he says or does, Harris barely gets a word in, like Hillary by this point in 2016.

Nobody else ever gets away with this. We're going into Tuesday with the possibility he could win big because of how many decades of enabling and crass go-along-to-get-along mentality this man is cocooned in.

That's really not the narrative this week IMO. That is the right wing spin, but it has not overtaken media or the public. The narrative is what I posted above. That and Puerto Rico.

And not everything Harris does is drowned out.

This is honestly horsecrap. Rather than figure out how to adjust their models based on the reasons for the disparity in the past 2 elections, they do this?  And this proves I was right. So with that plus being wrong in 2022, they just throw up their hands and ignore their own data analysis.  Couple that with the right wing polling that was flooded into their models in 2022 and even more this year. It's a double whammy. And with the time people have obsessed over them.

And I have to ask another question. What about Biden?  He was pushed out.  I'm sorry to say, I think this was done purposely to push a narrative our propaganda filled media wanted.  I'll admit initially I did not want Biden to run for re-election - this was before he announced. Not due to capabilities, but yes his age. The presidency takes a toll on you. But then Trump announced before Biden did and I was fine with Biden announcing after that.   Harris has picked up the mantel and I don't care what those fools on The Young Turks say(who take credit by the way for pushing Biden out), Harris has been phenomenal when one considers the amount of time she's had. Of course the speed at which the news cycles move helped that also.

Nate Silver was complaining about Republican pollsters that always need to have Trump ahead by 1 and herding, basically calling them cowards. It does seem like a common trend. I do think that Trump is going to overperform polls again, so I can see why they are cautious, but they should just stop polling altogether. They won't because they don't want to lose that money.

One positive of the polls, real or fake, is they are at least convincing more who are supporting Harris or leaning toward doing so to feel their vote counts. There was a poll out today claiming Trump is only ahead by 3 in Ohio. I don't buy that (if I'm wrong I'll be thrilled) and it feels like something whipped up for the sake of complacency.

I also saw Mehdi Hasan criticizing Kamala for not going to Dearborn and what an opening this gave Trump. It annoyed me, because I know that if she had gone, she would have been torn to pieces - she's already gotten so much hostility at rallies as it is.

In 2019, Kamala had a talk with Ady Barkan, a big healthcare advocate who passed away from ALS last year. At the time only ten minutes were shown, but they've now released the full thing.

She's gotten a handful of hecklers, which is predictable for any Dem candidate (because the far left is too chickenshit to protest Republicans). Her rallies haven't exactly been unpopular or chaotic either. They've been largely sold out lovefests.

Hasan has always overestimated his importance and influence. Which explains why we are currently up in Michigan in a lot of polling.

And then there's this, which must be seen to be believed:

    • Whoa. She should have fought like hell to get that. Was it the greatest show ever? No, but it had a fantastic cast and was practically guaranteed to last multiple seasons because of its star power. Could have certainly led to bigger and better things. If it had flopped she could have always gone back to soaps. Judith Light broke through on a sitcom where she was basically second banana to Tony Danza. That grew into a very busy and distinguished career. The woman is still regularly booked to this day.
    • I could understand her being frustrated by the fact that she'd been in the business 10+ years at that point, and probably couldn't even get in the door. But then again, she'd already gone out for pilot season once (that we know of) and she and  her agent knew a 35-ish woman had a very difficult time in Hollywood. I know she did a few guest spots, but other than Designing Women, nothing I saw--not even a Murder She Wrote, and that show had tons of ex-soapers on it. I mean, God bless Marilu Henner, but even having been on Taxi, she couldn't get arrested for years either.
    • I didn't rewatch that period, so I'm not really sure how much Bill is on. I recall something about him living at the boardinghouse. I think Van made Matt his guardian, and why she didn't name Josh would be a mystery to me, other than the HW decided they needed to keep Bill in Matt's sphere. Nola is also his aunt, although they don't know each other well, and Van wouldn't have trusted her anyway. There's Dinah---but she's unreliable. Billy gets out of jail around NYE.

    • That's on Kimmer. As someone posted above...she was offered roles in pilots but she would be part of an ensemble or supporting. She didn't want that so she came back to GL. I don't know what she thought would happen..someone offering her "Here's Kimmer!" or The "Zimmer Comedy Powerhouse Hour" variety show..but her housefrau fans did not have the same pull in HW as they did on the soaps. Forbes and Watros knew that you had to take small parts to get noticed ands start a career in primetime. I know she was in consideration for the wife in Evening Shade, but when you go up against Marilou Henner, the soap diva looses. I could see her frustrated in a role like that, where she has to be the understanding wife with a bit of sass, but she could have made it work, if it wasnt for her huge ego.  I think it would have been an issue haveing all the powerhouse comedy actors surrounding...(lets face it..Alice Ghostly woudl have wiped the floor with her...) but it would have been a good launching padd.
    • Oh good, so I don't have to wait too long haha. I'm glad she cares about seeing Bill graduate. I'm guessing I'm in for a bumpy ride between Bill and Matt, if he's going to be his caretaker? Who else could it be, maybe Josh?

    • Maeve makes a few sporadic appearances, but returns full-time the next spring/summer. She's back in time to see Bill and Michelle graduate, although she skulks around town and wasn't going to tell anyone she was alive. She comes back wearing this HUGE hat---which was a throwback to the old Vanesaa. lol.
    • Aww, yeah it's very heartbreaking and I mostly enjoyed the Nola/Vanessa scenes because they finally let their walls down and came together in a beautiful moment. So Nola was at the hospital already and bumped into Vanessa, who had MRI papers that fell out of her hand and Nola went down to pick them up and asked her what was going on. Later, Vanessa confided in her about her disease. Then, Nola told Zachary on the beach (he prodded her and already alluded to knowing something was going on with Van), and then Vanessa found out she told him and got a little upset. Now, however, Nola is strangely absent while everyone is mourning her death. I'm curious if Nola will actually tell people about her MRI results. I would assume so. Only Nola, Rick, Roger and Zachary know anything, although there is the MRI results letter from the mail that everyone has missed seeing at home. I'm sure it'll all come out at some point. But... I just saw the next episode and the opening already cut Vanessa out and added Dahlia and Zachary. I guess Maeve is gone for a long time

That will break my heart seeing the town continue to mourn her and assume she's dead. I can't wait to see her return though, and I have to imagine feelings will be torn between loving that she's alive and being very angry she did all of this. While I hate what Vanessa is doing, I'm happy to hear it's not totally against her character. I think you're right, had Henry still been around, she wouldn't put him through this. I'm still surprised she is with Bill, though. I get her feelings on Matt, because she wants him to move on, but still very heartbreaking. I'm glad this was Maeve's choice to have a break vs. being fired.    Interesting, so I'm curious to see who they eventually pair Phillip with. They're flirting with a Phillip/Annie pairing, but I'm not sure if they'll go that route with the Jeva drama, her growing pill addiction, and Rick's past with her.  Ugh, yeah I'm so sad to see Bridget do a total 180 in the last couple weeks. She has always been a strong character from what I've seen, but now she's just bending over backwards to get Hart to love her and it reeks of desperation. Yeah, sure, this new Hart is eye candy, but I'm already tired of seeing Hart/Dinah have sex all over Springfield and the Cayman Islands haha.
    • Yes.  I remember them together during the early summer of 1986.  They didn't share scenes again for 30 years until 2017 because Carrie wasn't on the show when Anna returned during Sydney's kidnapping.
