I'm ending my self-imposed exile to say I, too, am excited about the news.  Kamala Harris had my vote forever when she rained fire on Brett Kavanaugh at his confirmation hearings.  As I learned that day, hell hath no fury like a Black woman with questions.

@Khan good to see you post again. We'd hoped you were OK.

I'm going to have to cut back my social media time because all those who are just rabid dogs against Kamala Harris will be in overdrive. I do think she is a smart pick and I think she would make a wonderful VP and President. I hope we get to see that happen.

I was also glad to see this:

This is where I'm at, and it pains me to say so as a woman myself. But let's face it: Geraldine Ferraro didn't work in 1984 for Walter Mondale, Sarah Palin most definitely sunk McCain [but I completely understand THAT!], and Hillary's presidential bid went splat.

Seems voters don't mind women as Senators or members of the House or even leading it (Hi, Nancy Pelosi!) But there seems to be historic pushback whenever a woman dares to aim even higher.

While I am glad that Joe Biden committed to picking a woman as VP, a part of me is very worried that very act may have just given us Trump again for another 4 years, killing the nation. Sexism - like racism - is real in the US and sadly still prevalent.

I pray I'm wrong this time!

misogyny, misogynoir, xenophobia, etc. Kamala has had to deal with this for years, which I believe has steeled her resolve.  Personally, I've had to deal with all of these as well, so, although I don't plan on exposing myself to toxic comments in media, I will not wilt in the face of it either.

Ferraro and Palin were also terrible nominees. I'm not sure what will happen this time, especially given how many on the left who are itching to support Trump hate Harris, but I feel like most of this is going to be on Trump. Biden is probably the most risk averse nominee Democrats could have chosen. Another VP nominee may have helped, but with Russian interference and so much division on the left, anyone Biden chose would be polarizing and get a negative response.

I'm actually cautiously optimistic, but when Trump was elected despite having so many sexual assault allegations against him it really opened my eyes to where women still stand in society. Obviously, black women have it even harder, but maybe this will end up being a step in the right direction.

I guess we have to root for Chinese interference to combat Russian interference. It's unreal that this is where things stand.

Chinese interference is why "Kampala Harris" was trending on Twitter.  Frankly, I wouldn't hold out too much hope.

Thanks for all the love and concern.  I'm okay.  I'm going through some personal issues at the moment, but I'm taking it all one day at a time.

Thank you. I didn't realize there was confusion. You cleared it up.  It is more than crazy that this whole conversation is off-topic.
    • Sure!  And we promise, Mr Corday -- we will ridicule those wonderful old episodes daily on social media.   NOT!
    • "To give her child a name" just means to make the child legitimate and be able to take the father's surname.
    • I would say, Denise was the ONLY good thing about that insultingly ridiculous plot.  But all this took place near the end of Another World's "let's play everything for laughs" era.  Thank God that nonsense ended around 1988.
    • We could take an OATH: We swear we will hate these episodes!
    • Will I miss anything pertinent fast forwarding? I love that Kristina is so aghast someone could think she’s crazy after she just tried to kill someone. She’s basically saying my mom doesn’t know the full extent of my crazy, how dare she! It’s laughable. I genuinely don’t know what the show wants us to think of Kristina at this point,
    • Oh yes, that would be grand!  But Ken Corday will never allow that.  No executive-producer wants to hear people rave about how good his show "used to be".    Thank you for sharing that information.  I barely remember that plot, but it was so significant in DOOL's history.  Ramifications went on for years and years.
    • Not just that but Im sure she will be blamed for trying to poison Laura with potassium. Remember when Nicole started to put the pieces together that someone may have tampered with her IV? She dropped it bc she got distracted with the party, but they did make a note to mention that Eva lied and sent a card and flowers there on Nicole's behalf. Im sure they will say that that was just a cover for her to be in Laura's room and come for her
    • Susan named her son after her father, Richard, and they called him Dickie, for short. David had bought Dickie a play swing but it was too big for him. One day, while David was babysitting, he put Dickie in the swing, took his eyes off of him for a few seconds and he fell out of the swing, hit his head and died. Susan was so devastated that she shot and killed David only like a few episodes later.
    • Mickey Horton got her off, temporary insanity. Edit to add: If only Peacock would air this storyline.  Edit to add: David was supposed to be watching the child. Wasn't. Child fell out of swing, broke his neck. The show had the camera focus on that empty swing, just barely moving ...
