I don't know how accurate it is but when they discussed Tillerson's dismissal on radio here in Sweden someone said that 43% of the staff in Trump's administration has left/been replaced during these first 13 months of his time in office.  If it's true it's an astonishing number.

It's true. they have either been fired or quit. with many turning on him. he insists on destroying himself. could it be that he really is working for the Dems and is destroying the RP from within, or does that sound like something Dena Higley would write?

Sounds about right.

https://www.vox.com/world/2018/3/13/16029526/rex-tillerson-fired-state-department

Under Tillerson’s watch, 60 percent of State’s top-ranking career diplomats resigned and new applications to join the foreign service fell by half, according to a November count by the American Foreign Service Association.

This country is out of control.

This was a diplomat (who oddly couldn't even get a meeting with the Trump administration on her own).  I think she was venting and will be made to face the consequences of her haphazard actions (remember when the U.S. used to do this?)

At least it wasn't the PM wasting time on social media.  A head of state who wastes time venting on social media...now that would be worrying.

I'm sure she was, I just think it's a road to nowhere. There is nothing more toxic and soul-destroying than wading into these primary fights. I agree with her about Democrats and about the delusions of many Warren and Sanders supporters, but it isn't worth focusing on, especially when she will now always have her political card marked by some of those crazies so if she ever wants to get involved in US politics again they will give her a hard time.

Honestly, I think she was venting. I doubt she'll spend much time focusing  on it, especially since she is being reprimanded (and rightly so).

New Zealand's system of checks and balances seems to be, at least functioning somewhat properly.

It's alarming.  Even more alarming that this has been occurring with amazing consistency for over a decade now.

I Must ask, DD.......have you EVER seen this in this state?! this is HORRIBLE. it's like some horrible $200 million picture Michael Bay directed. I honestly don't think we'll be here in 8 years. this is how alarmed I am....and who is going to stand up to Putin? anyone who speaks out against, no matter where they are in Europe is found DEAD.

    • One of the dumbest situations (Lando) ever. What audience member is going to invest in a storyline with a recast they don't like and a triangle where one character is short-term? It bombed as it should have done. So much of JFP's tenure just reeks of desperation. I don't get how someone could produce SB (which did have flaws but was often brilliant) but make so many terrible mistakes at GL.   I still think JFP would have worked better as a director and music supervisor. Her music work at SB was top notch.  It just seems that Rea was minimized during JFP's tenure because I can't imagine her okaying so many of these casting choices.

Article (not that you'd want to read it, just proof that it unfortunately exists) https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/01/style/trump-style-100-days.html non-paywall copy: https://archive.is/ICe7U
    • We see the same with GH, where Mark Teschner, the casting director, reportedly has less say since Frank Valentini took over. Some producers want to take over every aspect of their shows.  I think Lando may have been a CBS push.
    • No idea but she won Emmys & she was the Casting Director at the same time for both ATWT & GL. She hired Lisa Brown with no job for her. Then Marland made Brown his muse so he created both Iva & Nola for her. But, I think we know that Jill does what Jill wants.
    • I did notice a decline in the quality of the performers being cast once Betty R vacated/retired from her position. We would have been spared from the nightmares of some of the castings that dominated the show in the last decade or so of the soap. JFP was an example of someone, no matter the gender, who had no business being in the position they were in.
    • If Betty Rea was the casting director, why was so much of GL during JFP's reign cast by her? Walker, Deas, Crampton, Lando, etc. JFP takes credit for Dusay as well. What is the point of having a casting director, if you don't let her do her job? What happened when Rea left?
    • So much on here slips my mind but this is the first I remember hearing of Peterson's passing. Very sad. Nell was a thankless role, clearly set up for a cheating storyline with Frank, but Peterson did her best.  Betty Rea Rea was the casting director for the soap opera “Guiding Light” from 1970 to 1996 and simultaneously the casting director for “As the World Turns” from 1979 to 1983.
    • Sorry, just one more post on the Thorntons. How did Ruth and Edna feel about each other prior to Tad dating Dotty?
    • I can't remember exactly but I think it may be 1995 as Jake was trying to hide from a loan shark.
