Hate to burst anyone's bubble -- especially a rag like the NY Daily News -- but "generic sex" is the ONLY kind of sex that man knows how to have.

Wow.  The NRA might be in on this too?  SOOOOOOOOOOOOO many unclean hands in all this.

Does anyone else feel like the porn star stuff is a deliberate media distraction away from bigger material?

I think he has some fantasy that if he forces a shutdown then the Democrats will bend his way and he can look like a big hero. And even if it backfires on the GOP (which I have my doubts about as I think "Libruls only care about illegal aliens taking over our country1111!1!!" will have traction), he won't care because he will just say they should have listened to him.

He always has to be right and everyone has to kiss up to him and coddle his worst impulses.

And yet again Faux News is the real decider:

One news outlet report stated that they thought that this was more important than some garden variety sex scandal, due to the fact that Trump Inc. created a Delaware-based LLC. in order to pay her the 'hush money' just a month before the election. (my guess is they are trying to delineate where the money came from--personal accounts or campaign cash?)

They may be thinking about Bannon's money laundering allegations and tying it into Trump's shady financial dealings (especially since the WSJ was the first media outlet to report this).

I'm not sure how significant this is but I do believe it merits higher than mere distraction (though personally, I'd rather not hear the gory details of his sexcapades because...vomit).

From the land that created the Kalashnikov (the man and the assault rifle)?

This doesn't surprise me in the least.

The U.S. and Russia are both major arms dealers with networks that span the global to the grassroots.  The arms trade is likely more connected than the global drug trade. Actually, they likely go hand-in-hand.

I think it could be, since (according to NPR) four other media outlets have tried in the past to break this story, but got nowhere.  But, OTOH, wouldn't it be incredible if THIS, and NOT the Russia [!@#$%^&*], is the thing that ends up being Trump's undoing as president?  (I'm not saying it WILL be.  I'm just saying it would be amazing if it were.)  After all, Watergate began as just a routine break-in.

http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2018/01/the-trump-administration-just-gave-the-craziest-justification-for-allowing-doctors-to-deny-care-to-women-and-lgbt-people/

“In a press conference about the new Conscience and Religious Freedom Division, Roger Severino, a senior HHS official, said it was necessary to shield medical staffers who deny care on religious grounds, comparing their situation with that of Jews who were slaughtered during the Holocaust and Martin Luther King Jr. in his quest for racial justice.”

So the question here is between two groups of people claiming their fundamental rights are being infringed upon.

The first believes they have a right to basic health care regardless of their gender or sexual orientation.

The other believes they have a right to deny them basic health care due to their religious beliefs.

Some media entities really seem to be emphasizing the financial undercurrents regarding Trump and Russia, suggesting that money laundering may now be the focus of the investigation.

Reading this article was interesting in how, on its face, it discusses the possible purge of U.S. intel sources while examining, once again, how mob-adjacent Trump Inc. has always been (this time it's the Russians) as well as how comfortable the Trump organization seems to be at playing this kind of shell game with money (e.g. the golf course section).

Fusion GPS: Kremlin ‘Purged’ Suspected Spies After Trump Dossier Release

The reality is that Trump has likely been practicing more money laundering through his various companies than the Godfather did through his olive oil venture but the sad news is that if he's half as proficient in covering his tracks as his mentor Vladimir, the evidence may not be found for years (if ever).

No. Almost nothing Trump does is deliberate or some secret media strategy - it's just flailing. Daniels came out because she felt like it. It doesn't help Trump, it's just another scandal - and it hasn't lessened any of the bigger ones.

A few pundits had this same theory a lot early on; they assumed there was some secret strategy behind Trump's constant chaos, that it was some big play. It's not. Everyone involved in his empire, both in the past and now, is just that much of a blithering incompetent.

    • All the time they spent trying to make viewers feel sorry for Chad only for him to not even last that long. I wonder if they knew Richard Burgi was going so quickly. You're right about Josie replacing Cheryl. On paper, this should have made sense, given all the ties Josie had to the canvas, but I did prefer Cheryl. There was something very synthetic about Alexandra Wilson.
    • So true...Hackney might have had a story on FC with Richard being an old lover of his, but reveals herself to be a Cartel member and blackmails Richard with something into doing her dirty work  LOL. But of course Richard had his hands full with the double trouble sisters Ms. Jones and Ms. Braxton that season.

    • Cat herself will be a stumbling block all her own as she vowed to Chad to stay away from him, thus redeeming her of her crime morally. Classic DAYS would have them gazing longingly at each other at Doug's Place or Blondie's, while Liz is serenading the room with a song aptly chosen to represent their feelings of emotional turmoil.
    • From what I just recently watched, they were setting her up to go into future stories. She was Emmy nomination worthy in the material I saw. If some viewers did not like her, the character could have been rehabilitated after that sick storyline. It feels like they destroyed a character for fun and then tossed her to the curb. Spencer had chemistry with everyone. I'm just retroactively angry on Spencer's behalf.  You're right about how Cheryl was often forgotten and pushed aside and I would take Cheryl over Josie. I think soaps need characters like Cheryl. Characters like Josie are way too common. Josie always got on my nerves.
    • CBS was back in third place in 1994/95. That was the season CBS lost NFL broadcasting rights which also cost them several established affiliates in major media markets. 1995 CBS was sold to Westinghouse and Les Moonves arrived. 1995/96 CBS was trying to be young and cool to compete with NBC and Fox, but it was an epic failure and CBS was once again in third place.
    • I tend to think that Chad will actually listen to Jen (this time). And that will be the next stumbling block in their relationship, which will open the possibilities for Cat to seek another member of their love triangle... To iterate my earlier thought, I am also not a fan of the person Melissa Reeves, but the character of Jennifer looks so chic this week, especially in comparison to Hope (and Gabi).  That blunt haircut is a winner.
    • I think Cheryl was essentially replaced by Josie, and it seems likely that Lemay wanted to bring the Frames back into the picture and for a variety of reasons that it would be McKinnons who would make way for them. Cheryl didn't really get many layers -- she was pretty and kind and sweet and faded into the background so that Scott could participate in the AIDS storyline with Dawn. Looking at the AWHP, other than (not very) shockingly being in love with her mother's adopted son Scott, Cheryl apparently went out with Sam and flirted with much-too-old-for-her John Hudson and MJ's ex-boyfriend/pimp Chad. I know MJ told Mary that she had been a prostitute, but did she tell Cheryl and did she tell anyone about Chad's pimping?
    • I feel the same way about Melissa Reeves' Jennifer. She just makes the show feel like home by her presence alone. I am perfectly okay with them coming in every once and awhile, which probably fits Reeves' schedule better anyway. Their connections to Salem are still there: JJ, the grandkids, Jack still owning half of The Spectator ... they're perfect recurring characters. All this talk of Jennifer being in the wrong regarding Cat is absurd. Jennifer is not being villainized in any way, shape, or form, she's just being allowed to actually be human, which adds odds to the obstacle of Chad and Cat eventually getting together. All inner conflict. Keep it coming!
    • Hahaha. Jean Hackney, Angelica Nero, and the Falcon Crest henchwomen were all straight out of a James Bond movie.
    • My hunch is what you've described. JFP is likely back working on transitioning the show to a new studio and embracing new technology for its production model.
