Members DramatistDreamer
I'm going to stay my behind in the Northeast, in the blue territories! Or I'll move to the Caribbean where I have kinfolk.
Members Juliajms
Yeah, I mean let's be real. Australia has it's own issues with refugees and human rights violations. I don't think they are going to accept a ton of Americans.
Members dragonflies
California has 55, I think she'll get alot of the Western states. She can pull it off with those. She can also still take Florida
Members Juliajms
Looks like she might get Omaha's one. Kind of surprising given how this is all shaking out.

Members DramatistDreamer
Yes but it is so close, it says a lot of disappointing things about the state of the U.S.
Members DRW50
I look at a lot of the comments (I don't mean here BTW) that essentially amount to how ashamed and horrified the world must be (they may be, but the world has a whole lot of problems of their own...), and a part of me remembers why so many end up flocking to demonic carnival barkers like Trump. He said over and over — the world hates us, the world is disgusted by us. He rallied that type of vote, that wanted to send a message. The same type of vote that thinks Democrats hate them and want to ruin their lives. And that vote is constantly, constantly undercounted before every election. I don’t really care if somebody that someone knows in Australia or Japan or wherever is disgusted by America. (I'm not talking about the comments here - I mean at other places, which were much nastier and more patronizing) They’re wonderful places but they have their own cultures, lives, and struggles. We need to have better arguments than that. The whole “vote against Trump unless you’re an awful hatemonger hated by the world” was a losing argument and we just may be seeing that tonight. Members DramatistDreamer
Not to mention Aboriginals. It's a brutal history.
Members Juliajms
Yes, I'm, aware of some of it, although I'm far from an expert.
Members AdelaideCate007
Trust me, I know. This history with the refugees and the Aborigines is abhorrent. I just meant that I'm seeing a lot of sympathy for America here right now.
Members DRW50
Still so depressed about the Senate. I know the White House is the biggest issue, so I should freak out about that, but I'm just so tired of these ignorant empty suits cruising every 2 years. It makes me so sad.
Members NothinButAttitude
When Trump comes into power, it is gonna be a full autocracy. There will be no 'blue territories.' It's gonna be like Germany in WW2 all over again. There'll be no place for us to hide here.
Members DRW50
If Barry Humphries were a bit younger, he's make a killing over here as Les Patterson. Or does Nigel Farage already have that role...
Members Juliajms
Right. For so many reasons Americans are not moved by that kind of argument at all. We won't always be the world's only super power, but for right now that's just the way it is. I think people like Noam Chomsky and Arundhati Roy are spot on in that sense. If this were the Hunger Games, we'd be The Capital.
Members DRW50
I kept seeing people compare this to Brexit, which I disagreed with (I guess I was wrong), but that was one of the losing arguments against Brexit as well - essentially, "You're so stupid! You're so stupid!" It may be true - it likely is true as with a Trump win we're all likely going to burn - but it's not something that gets a vote.
