So whether is matters or not, apparently MSNBC did an unskewed version of the CNN poll and it shows Hillary still up by 4 points. The CNN poll assumes that the voting electorate will be 50% non college educated whites, so that's what their sampling allegedly included. That's assuming I guess all the other polls showing Clinton still maintaining a lead look at the demographics in a more realistic way. Unless we assume that the voting population will consist of 50% non college educated whites. That seems unlikely considering 39% of the electorate consist of African Americans and Hispanics.

An article on the Mercer family, one of Trump's big backers. Most of the focus is on Bekah Mercer. It just underscores again that a lot of unruly and opportunistic people jumped on his bandwagon and the GOP - and America - will not be getting rid of their influence regardless of the outcome in November.

I think she will be fine. Last month she was focused more on behind the scenes fundraising which is crucial to the final months of this campaign. I'm sure September is going to be a big month for her and the press is now traveling with her, which hopefully will mean more stories about her from a more positive stand point. The fundraising is going to allow her to keep the machine going leading into the election, especially when it comes to advertising in the battleground states. Trump hasn't raised nearly as much money and his overspending between the expensive events always held at Trump properties and his private plane (which he flies back to NYC every night) are draining what resources he does have.

Re-weighting polls to reflect previous elections is a waste of time.    That is what Dick Morris did to come up with the prediction Romney would win in a blowout.  If half the responders in your poll tell you they have no college, then half the responders in your poll have no college.    Dick Morris' ridiciulous predictions:

lol I remember that from 2012 and Fox predicting the election based on those averages.

Don't pollsters though weight the results of their polls based on the desired or demographic meaning if I got 60% non college educated whites responding and I know that only 30 percent of the voters are non college educated whites, wouldn't you let the data reflect the actual demographic. THe same would apply if I polled 1000 people and 600 of the respondents are African American, Well I would guess the results of that poll would be skewed also, so I always thought a number of respondents were randomly tossed to reflect the actual demographic makeup. The same thing at the state levels.

Saying that, what numbers do they actually use to reflect the demographics of likely voters, because we know for example democrats are terrible at showing up for midterm elections.

Yeah I kind of think they are doing that moreso this election cycle because of who Trump is attacking but I think it's a mistake because I actually think his own rhetoric is stirring up minorities moreso than ever. Maybe I'm wrong, but they also have to factor in the fact our demographics are evolving no matter how much they like to think that white rules.

For anyone who isn't, check out the live Commander-in-Chief forum on MSNBC/NBC. Hillary and Trump are appearing one after another (Hillary is up first, lost the coin toss) and answering questions.

ETA: Matt Lauer spent 10+ minutes out of 30 on emails, followed by a guy asking more questions about emails. This is supposed to be a foreign policy discussion. Then Lauer tried to shut her down when she was answering an actual substantive question and she cut him off and kept going.

I think she's done well despite what was mostly a hit job setup, but it's not going to move the needle with many not already voting for her. What will is Trump, next - unless Lauer goes easy on him. Even if he does, Trump can't handle being held to questions live.

I thought this was an hour each, but it's only 30 minutes and Matt Lauer tries to rush people through questions! It's like Supermarket Sweep, ridiculous. But Twitter is roasting Matt, and Hillary did dominate him.

Jill Stein seems like your typical far left twit who missed a historic opportunity for her party. Between the anti-vax stuff (and no I don't believe it's a media or Hillary campaign against her - she has a history of playing coy on the issue and it bit her in the ass), the cute tweet about Hillary's health that she promptly deleted, and this silly stunt of spray-painting a bulldozer or whatever in North Dakota (which accomplishes nothing other than getting her charged - maybe that was the point all along, I don't know), she seems to be nothing more than a gadfly who will get far more support than she deserves based on not being Hillary and on sucking up to Sandernistas.

    • Where do you discover this crazy rumor??
    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.

Melissa was here today & we went to Michael's Crafts & Ofc Depot. In Michael's there were two beautiful LITTLE girls who kept staring at me, so I gave them a littel wave & very quietly said HI & then did back. I told Melissa they were staring at me. She smiled & said "Purple. A lot of little girls love purple & you forget but you have purple hair. Seeing you their whole imaginations are transformed! Thinking "That lady has purple hair. That means I can have purple hair! They had no clue before seeing you that it was possible." I just laughed & laughed.
    • This opening scene is hilarious...it's like someone wrote out the script for Philip with one hand. And Rick...sniffing a scarf over and over. And in their next scene they are still sniffing the [!@#$%^&*] scarf as the camera stays all over Philip's bare chest and armpits as he keeps working out. Insane stuff.

Bay City better be ready, because I'm back!   At Vicky's apartment she is once again drowning in doubts and jealousy. Deep down she realizes that her dream wedding will be a farce and nothing can change that. Bridget tries to calm her down, but the heroine is determined to suffer. She is not hearing any positive thoughts. She doesn't believe Jamie will marry her. At the Cory Publishing building another farce is in process. Iris, once again pretending to be the angel of love and sisterhood... is telling Mac and Rachel some wonderful news. When Iris has good news, you really need to look out for yourself. That's when things are bad. So what are the news? Miss Devil has put Amanda up for an award! Mac is smiling from ear to ear, and Rachel is suspicious. Maybe that's the effect Iris is looking for. To once again accent on the fact that Rachel doubts and criticizes her daughter. Iris will do anything to destabilize their relationship. She is like a cancer. Back to Vicky! Jamie is at the door. Looking like a sad puppy, he has come with a surprise. No, he is not gonna leave her and her unborn... Not yet. He has bought her earrings. Sad face. How nice. NOT. Victoria, of course... manages to break one of them the moment she touches it. Bad premonition maybe? She was back in hysterics. It's not easy to trap a man into marriage. Then you have to live with someone that didn't want you in the first place.  We were introduced to a new character (to me at least she is new) - Cass's sister - Stacey. She is giving me "hidden skeletons in the closet"-vibes. Love a girl like that. Stunning actress. I like her. The highlight of the episode was the strange and creepy reveal of Evan the escort... hugging someone named Janice's grave. I remember she had an issue with Rachel... and Rachel killed her in self defense I think... It was hinted in prior episodes, but I lack the context and story. I just know that everyone at the Frame house was mad that Rachel killed the bish. But I also got the impression that this Janice was sick in the head. So Evan is now talking to her grave and telling her he is going to ruin Rachel's life basically. Oh, Evan... I liked you better as a sexy gigolo.  Overall - 10/10 - how can I rate it lower when I haven't watched in months!!!

    • Once again, Marlena and Kayla were used very effectively and I couldn’t be happier.  Marlena counseling Johnny and then Chanel was the best part of today. They’re really delving into the human emotion of this storyline and I think that’s a good thing. It feels so much mature than it was before. EJ’s fear about what could happen to Johnny if he doesn’t let go of his anger could lead to some really good storylines in the future.  I also really appreciate the way that Paula/Jeanne are mixing it up and having different characters interact with each other. It was nice to see Shawn and Johnny remember that they’re cousins and share a scene together. I liked the parallel that was drawn between the two of them, and what’s going on with their fathers. I did have mixed feelings about everything with Cat though. I enjoyed Chanel warning her about EJ, mostly because it played into the way that she was written today. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Chad/EJ scenes. The two of them discussing Chad’s potential feelings for Cat didn’t really keep my interest.  But above all, I feel that everyone is being used more effectively and that we’re getting a better understanding of everyone as well. And that was exactly what Days needed.
    • It's a wild story for sure, especially the final conclusion (and fireworks offcamera, like Victoria Wyndham tearing into Michael Logan).
