I didn't find the reunion to be that bad. It was decent and showed me enough and also a wide variety of characters. It's sad that Dallas was the high profile show, yet they only brought back a total of like 5 cast members between two movies. That's ridiculous. I don't think a reboot would have to ignore much from a Knots remake though. Only Kate and Gary's daughter would have to be remembered, maybe Paige leaving.

In a way, I think TS was right to turn down the offer. Not because of his complaints, but because they'd have to explain whether or not Gary knows that Bobby didn't actually die. Bobby's "death," along with the whole "dream season" following, didn't have much of an impact on DALLAS in the long run (aside from viewers' discontent with the decision, of course), but KNOTS used the event to affect a good deal of story on their show, so much so that David Jacobs severed all ties between the two once DALLAS reversed their decision, thereby keeping the two shows in separate universes thereafter.

I'm not getting into that argument, lol! I will say, though, if you have to make a character gay in order to give them story, something is wrong with the character.

Gary and Kate's daughter is a big reason why I'd choose to ignore the reunion movie. Perhaps, if Gary and Kate had been a much bigger couple, I'd be fine with it. But why must KNOTS remind us (with that child) of the time they attempted to pair Ted Shackelford with Stacy [!@#$%^&*] Galina?

I agree with that, but I felt like they just did that as a joke (she put up with a bad man, so she's a lesbian). They were ahead of their time, I guess...

I never understood why they paired Gary/Kate. It just felt like "these characters have no other story left." If they hadn't demolished Claudia when she killed her son, I would have paired them up.

To be perfect and frank, I think Ted Shackelford stayed on KNOTS about two years too long. Unless the show was willing to break its own rules and SORAS Bobby and Betsy into teenagers or young adults, there was little left for Gary (or Val, for that matter) to do that wouldn't have felt like a retread of earlier (and better) stories.

And if anyone in the history of KNOTS was a true lesbian, it was Jill Bennett. I'm just saying. :)

Continuing my journey through Season 6. On "A Price To Pay," there is this really, really awesome Ben/Val scene, in which they return to Ben's fabulous beach house, put on a ballad and dance. It's romantic without being cheesy; that kind of romance is almost extinct nowadays. Meanwhile, Abby is being blackmailed by Greg: Get Gary off Empire Valley and I'll tell you where Val's babies are.

Watching Ben/Val and Gary/Abby interact is great. There is no doubt in my mind that Gary/Val are endgame but it's better when they're apart. Just like when Pam and Bobby divorced on DALLAS, there is no other scenario more touching and full of dramatic tension than when the endgame couple is apart, secretly loving each other but never together. In the meantime, Gary and Val's involvement with their respective partners brings on a ton of drama, especially Gary and Abby's relationship. They've been milking it for four seasons already. The show has been very smart about dealing with those two couples.

Laura is also in the midst of a low-key, yet satisfying, feud with Ruth. Laura has been going for Ruth's neck, time and time again, even going as far as to tell her that what Greg sees in her is that she's good in the sack! Ruth does what she always does: She takes it in stride, smiles, and moves on to the next insult. Such fabulous TV.

Since season 3 involves Lisa Hartman singing.. I imagine licensing issues are a problem here. The effing publishing coimpanies, in the wake of the collapse of the CD market, are trying to grub every penny they can from TV and film licensing, charging insane amounts for song licensing (like 400$ per SECOND) I would love nothing better than a Knots continuation, and having Brian Austin Green and Tonya Crowe be the main stars of it. Tonya Crowe can carry a show, Brian.. not so much, but that can be worked around. And cast completely new people to be Bobby and Betsy. I would STILL have a widowed Karen and Abby still living in the cul-de-sac. Have Meg be living there with Karen... she could be in college or something. Karen and Abby feuding would be great TV. Even bring Jeff of all people back into the mix to cause drama with Abby.

    • That was the original point of me sending you her 6 airdates, so now with those, and the link to the daily episode guide I've provided, that should help you more easily find the additional Ruth Buzzi scenes. I will always repeat myself when it comes to defending my data that I've taken decades to research and compile. But, as you pointed out in a recent post, I am kind, so at least I will do it with you in a kind way as opposed to the usual social media way most people do with just getting rude/nasty. That's not my style, as you correctly pointed out earlier this week, and never will be.  So, all is well!

    • Ambyr Michelle continues to be *that girl.* She’s just a star, period. Elevates every scene she’s in on the sheer strength of her emotional realism and charisma. Can sell any dialogue. I wish the show veered away from the B&B-style scripting. TMG/Leslie’s tirade stood out, I suppose, but she’s getting a bit mustache-twirly. And I wish DD had more to do in that episode than stand and sob.
    • Well, that was down to CBS being weak and not being willing to just pulling the plug entirely. They didn't want to commit to cancelling the show in case they needed it for their schedule basically; plus they kept showing that they were willing to make cuts if needed to be.
    • I'm sorry but clearly what I've said is not satisfactory to you. I have now read what you have to say, twice. As it happens, my interest at this point is looking at other mislabeled files to find this other Ruth Buzzi content. I do not see any point to each of us repeating ourselves, so I will leave it here.
    • It seemed to be your intent. coming into a thread I started and making multiple posts saying my data was wrong. In the next paragraph you say "Of course, I was suspicious from the very first instance where what I saw & heard did not agree with what it should have.  I'm very glad to know why." That certainly didn't stop you from immediately saying the data was wrong, until I provided additional receipts. Why did you not check the daily episode guide (for instance, this one for the 1980's) I posted for the world to see for exactly this reason...to help confirm airdates: http://daytimeroyaltyonline.com/days-daily-summaries-1980-1989-t15361.html? That is what you should be checking BEFORE you make any posts in the future like this, trying to suggest something from my data is incorrect. You could have also messaged me and asked me why your dates weren't adding up with what the correct data is. I would have fast forwarded through that video you posted, spotted Roman and Hope and immediately have told you that was the 11/1/83 episode.
    • Jason, just let me say that it was not my intent to any way impugn any of your data  or research. I'm very sorry if it came out that way. Obviously the person I got these 4 November episodes from has mislabeled files, multiples, which I was certainly unaware of.  When I am editing it is all about what I see & hear. Later, I find time for greater reflection.  Of course, I was suspicious from the very first instance where what I saw & heard did not agree with what it should have.  I'm very glad to know why.  If you find you are no longer interested in the edit, that is fine. I have no ego in this. I did it only to share it.
    • I feel like Vernon and Anita need to not be hypocrites and try and take the heat off Bill in this case. It's clear that the family used him as a fixer and especially knowing he helped with Martin's situation, they need to either be quiet or support him. BTW...with Vanessa being in the hospital for food poisoning, am I the only one who thought Shanice was gonna say she's pregnant or had an STD? The only reason I say STD is because she hasn't had any memorable sex partners, but I definitely don't believe she just had food poisoning.
    • Yeah, I mean I know that the name still pertains. I just laugh at it not now being called Arizona Dust, but, I admit it simply does not have the same ring to it. Above, that is interesting that Arizona had already come up before the crisis.
    • Anita vs. Leslie, bring it!
    • Leslie and her family are from Chicago? Anita's background also includes being a former Chi-Town native? Might they connect this and go somewhere with it?
