I'm not happy about the male rape story, either. I'm sick of them ruining Ben's character, constantly portraying him as a victim. They need to send him away and recast him again back to somebody who actually looks like Ben Mitchell.

Meanwhile, I'm loving Sam's return. It's quiet in here. Where y'all at?

I used to be a "Ballum" fan and Callum is still one of my favorites, but they've totally destroyed Ben as a character. At this point, I think I've moved past hate to pure apathy towards him. This rape story reeks of desperation to force the viewers to having sympathy for Ben. It's not going to work.

I don't know if I'd recast, but Max Bowden's acting has gone down hill a lot. I haven't impressed with his acting in at least 18 months and he's delivered some very cringeworthy performances. Some of that I think is down to him hating the writing for Ben as much as we do.  Ben does need a long break off screen. Like  6 months to a year at least.

Overall, I'm not finding the show that great. It's mildly improved compared to when Sen was in charge, but there really isn't any story that interests me. I'm curious what Chris Clenshaw is going to do. His material hasn't started yet and still no interviews or anything to signal what his vision or plans for the show might be.

Kate Oates is a deeply sick producer. She has told this story on all her soaps, and it always involves very lurid material that fetishizes sexual assault and tells viewers not to go to the police. As long as she continues to be at EE, nothing will ever improve, no matter what her devotees claim.

So we have had one LGBT character murdered and her body stashed somewhere, and now another one is going to be raped. Absolutely brilliant EE!

I was actually going to dip in and check on how EE is doing with Sam's return, I've seen some positive things said about it, but now I'm not so sure I should get back in considering what is  coming.

@Vee I haven't watched the episode yet, but the bits I've seen leading up are pure propaganda - characters going on about "Her Majesty" and how "family means everything" to her, and a very pointed choice to remove the portrait of Lady Di in the Queen Vic (the landlady is or until now was a huge fan of Diana's) replaced with one of HRH.

It's obvious that the BBC, which is so cowed by the Tories at this point, mandated all of this.

    • A--I wish someone would post a better vid of the entire ball, as it must be out there. And B--nope. Evie is only in a small segment of the ball with Phillip, Rick and Mindy. She doesn't dance at all. Ross dances with Helena and Amanda. I'm not even sure why Evie is at the ball---Vanessa heartily disliked her. I did see that Billy actually asked Henry to introduce him to Vanessa, which I hadn't realized.
    • Honestly, they should've ordered more of 2000 Malibu Road for the 1992-93 midseason and aired it when Knots went on a break. That was probably their best shot.    Then of course they fumbled Central Park West by airing it in the 9PM slot instead of a 10PM slot where it would've been away from the Fox dramas. CPW got its best rating by airing randomly on a Sunday and when it was taken off the air for a "re-tooling", Party of Five's ratings actually had a spike, so clearly they were feeding off each other. But being a smaller network focused on a certain demographic, Fox could afford to be patient Party of Five, CBS couldn't...
    • Agree on Bruce Gray as Owen; they needed to cast star power. He was too lightweight against Kim and he had no chemistry with Frances Fischer except more gay buddy or daddy figure.  I loved Nola and Eliot together though. Lee Godart should have been longer term.
    • Andre has the worst fashion of the males which is off putting for someone as fine as he is. His jackets and sweaters look dated and no vintage does not work for him
    • I don’t recall MSW having a toy line in the late 80’s or early 90’s like all those Saturday morning cartoons did LOL but thought this was cute when I saw it in a vintage toy store yesterday:

    • Copying and pasting pasting this here as to not to derail the KL thread lol Wow I forgot CBS actually did try multiple attempts to come up with a soapy replacement for Knots on Thursday nights in the 10/9 slots for the 93-94 season.   Angel Falls had promise but CBS didn’t give it a fair chance. Latham’s Second Chances got even worse ratings than Angel Falls and wasn’t given a second chance when the Northridge quake destroyed the show’s sets. One West Waikiki looked gorgeous but was a blink you missed it affair. Finally we got Hotel Malibu, a quasi follow-up to Second Chances that stayed as the summer replacement series it was. CBS switched gears and had Chicago Hope air in the slot…against ER. It made the Top 30 but obviously underperformed below expectations. CBS gave up, and gave us 48 Hours for years there. It wasn’t until the 2002-03 season when CBS finally produced a Top 20 show for that spot with Without A Trace against an aging ER.
    • Of course I join in on wishing that Peacock & Corday & Sony would all together come to the conclusion that NOW would be a fine time to put some of these gems in the archive on full display!!! But, at the same time I'd like to give kudos to the fact that behind the scenes they've been doing the great work of preservation by taking tapes, etc. & converting them to modern digital formats. Besides the important fact of preserving them it means they are ready to go!
