I’m up to September 30, 1999.
*The next day previews once again stopped after Monday, 9/27.
Pilar runs to Danny and Michelle and tells them about Bill getting arrested, and Danny shows his cards by saying it wasn’t supposed to happen. Michelle and Pilar both are angry at Danny and Pilar accuses him of putting Bill in jail. Danny says he’ll go talk to the police, so he and Pilar head out together, with a disappointed Michelle trailing behind. At the station, Danny and Frank go at it, arguing about the Santos family, until an annoyed Michelle stops them. She eventually convinces Frank to let her visit Bill, who is being verbally harassed by a mean, obnoxious cop. The cop gets in his face and Bill snaps back and gets hit. When Michelle visits Bill, she’s shocked to see a black eye, which he lies and says he got from falling down. She holds his hands through the bars and they just stand there in silence.
Drew finds Jesse at Company and tells him the good news about Selena’s legs. He says that’s great and they hug, just as we see a new woman appear from behind who see them hug (assuming it’s the mystery lady he was talking to on the phone before). After Jesse and Drew talk a bit, she leaves to go back to the hospital and Jesse walks up to the lady. The lady says she assumes Jesse hasn’t told Drew about New York yet, and Jesse says he just hasn’t found the right time. She then hands him keys that he left in her room.
Buzz runs out of the hospital room and calls Harley, telling her he needs her help because the test was supposed to be negative. Harley is confused and asks what the problem is, and Buzz says Ben Warren is the problem. Harley then shows up at the hospital and Buzz tells her everything he did with the test results and Harley says he’s the louse, not Ben. Meanwhile, Ben and Selena celebrate inside the room about Ben being Drew’s father, with Ben saying that seeing the positive results is the best moment of his life. Billy then walks in and tells Selena he’s thinking about her, and she thanks him for the flowers he sent earlier. Billy then apologizes and says he needs a word with Ben. Ben refuses to talk, but Billy grabs him and says he’s going with him to clear Bill’s name. Selena gets upset, so Ben leaves with Billy to talk. Billy again pressures Ben to go confess to the cops, as Buzz and Harley overhear from a distance. Ben says no and Billy says Bill is all he’s got, so he better watch over his shoulder if he’s willing to take that away from him. He says he has nothing to lose and he doesn’t behave well when he has nothing to lose, and just as Billy grabs Ben again, the hospital staff break them up. Billy leaves and Buzz runs up to Ben and says they should go look at the test results. Ben says they’re confidential and just for him to see, just as Drew walks in. Ben then tells her he’s her father, and Selena, who has now joined them from her wheelchair, says it’s true. Drew is shocked, but ultimately accepts it happily. You can tell Ben is struggling internally, thinking he isn’t really the father, but puts on a brave face and tells Drew he always wanted a daughter. After Harley reminds Buzz of how awful he was in the beginning, she’s convinced him to do the right thing. He walks into the hospital room and says he’s happy for the family.
Back at the farmhouse, Sam helps Cassie with her car. As they walk inside, she gets a past due notice on her mortgage and the collections agency is on her heels. She is bummed out and Sam says she might have to just sell her last horse to catch up with her payments. Cassie is sad, saying that horse was Hart’s favorite, but she reluctantly asks Sam to load up the horse that night for sale in the morning. Sam leaves and then Beth shows up to apologize for her role in crashing the San Cristobel ball. Cassie tells her it’s fine and behind them, but Beth keeps apologizing, saying Jim told her everything. Cassie seems noticeably surprised and says Beth has nothing to worry about. Sam comes in and asks Cassie to go to the stables real quick with her, leaving Beth wondering what Jim didn’t tell her and what really did happen between Jim and Cassie. Cassie has a dream later that night that she’s back on the beach, and Richard comes out of the ocean and picks her up and they kiss (first time seeing Richard shirtless). She wakes up from a thunderstorm, but she hears something else outside. Being alone, she’s scared and grabs a fire poker. She opes the front door and we see Richard walking up - surprise, his first time in SF! Cassie is surprised and Richard says he couldn’t stay away, he needs to see her. They talk for a bit and Richard asks if she knows where Reva is, which starts to anger Cassie. She accuses him of assuming he could just charm her into giving away Reva’s location, but she says he’s wrong. Richard says she has it all wrong, but Cassie refuses to tell him where Reva is.
Josh is now with Billy and wants to help him with Bill. Billy says Josh needs to go to Cross Creek and be with Reva, but Josh says she needs time to heal alone from San Cristobel. After Billy leaves, Olivia shows up to Josh’s house and tells Josh that Richard is in town looking for Reva. He says there is no way they can find her at Cross Creek, and only immediate family knows that she’s there. He calls Reva and says Richard is in town and they sort of get into it a little, with Reva saying she can’t talk anymore that night. Josh and Olivia then wonder if Richard would go to Cassie to trick her into telling him. Josh calls Cassie and tells her about Olivia and Richard being in town. He asks if he’s tried to get in touch with her yet, and she lies, looking at Richard, and says no. She hangs up and tells Richard he needs to go back to San Cristobel. Richard says he can tell she wants to help him, but she can’t and he understands why. He thanks her and sweetly says goodbye. He then makes a phone call outside in the storm, telling that person to find a way to block the access road to the farm house so no one can get in and out. He then says to himself that he’s not going anywhere and neither is Cassie, until she tells him where Reva is. He later knocks on the door and tells her the bridge is impassable. She makes a call to confirm, and learns the bridge can’t be fixed until morning, so Richard has to spend the night there. She makes him sleep in the stables and she stares a little too long as he takes his shirt off and gets comfortable, but she then leaves quickly. Meanwhile, Josh and Olivia assure each other about Richard and she hugs him, which seems a little friendly. We then see Reva alone at Cross Creek in front of the fireplace, reading Richard’s letters and looking at his picture.
Later, Beth and Jim are having dinner and Beth acts weird and brings up what Cassie said to her earlier. A frustrated Jim tells Beth that things were so intense down there, that they needed to lighten the mood and they were horse playing in the pool. He then says the confession he made to Cassie is that he’s in love with Beth and can’t imagine being with someone else (like Cassie). Beth is relieved and tells Jim that Cassie seemed embarrassed by it all, and maybe they shouldn’t work together for now until she’s better. Jim blows that off saying they can work well together regardless.
Blake is still at the Bauer cabin alone, writing her new classic romance novel. As she’s writing, we see visions of Holly and Ross acting as the lead characters in love. Blake starts to realize that the story is turning into her own real life. She then talks to herself and the visions, which makes her go a little crazy. After we see the Holly and Ross visions kiss, the real Holly and Ross in SF are getting overwhelmed by babysitting the boys and not having Blake there to help (they think she’s traveling with her new ‘boyfriend’).
The next morning, Billy goes to Josh’s house and finds Olivia walking around in a towel, post-shower. He wants to know what’s going on and even Josh is a little surprised, but ultimately says he offered Olivia to stay the night given the bad storm. Billy eventually leaves and heads to the courthouse for Bill’s arraignment, and Olivia tells Josh she’s going back to San Cristobel, feeling like a failure. But she encourages Josh to be with Reva, because Richard won’t stop until he gets what he wants.
At the farmhouse, Richard is bringing in food to prepare breakfast for them, but Cassie tells him to stop and says he can’t do this to get her to tell him where Reva is. He insists he’s not trying to bribe her in any way, just to thank her for her kindness. She then surprises him by saying the police called earlier, saying the bridge is open again and that it seems like someone deliberately made it impassable. He continues to try and charm her, but she seems skeptical. Later, she comes down the stairs and realizes baby RJ isn’t in his playpen. She panics, thinking Richard took him, so she calls Josh and tells him she lied about Richard. She says he came last night looking for Reva and now he’s taken RJ. Josh says he’s on his way over and she hangs up, still searching for RJ, until she sees Richard singing to RJ on the balcony from outside the window. He’s singing and talking to him, saying he wishes he could have been there for Jonathan. This makes Cassie tear up. She opens the door, they talk sweetly to each other, and she then says she’s going to help him. She won’t tell him about Reva, but wants him to be able to move on. She mentions Cross Creek at one point, and doesn’t catch it, and after she goes upstairs to get RJ a bottle, he calls his man and instructs him to find a place called Cross Creek. Cassie and RJ are back downstairs and Richard says it’s time for him to leave and he thanks her once again for everything. Richard then confirms with his man that he found Cross Creek and they head off in his helicopter. As they fly away, Josh runs in and realizes RJ is ok and Cassie says she’s convinced Richard to go back to San Cristobel. As she continues talking, she stops herself and realizes she accidentally mentioned Cross Creek to Richard and they both freak out and Josh runs out, saying Reva’s in trouble.
Bill’s arraignment is about to start and Pilar visits him in jail. At first Bill doesn’t want to see her, but she pleads with him and says she loves him. He finally breaks and they kiss between the cell bars. After she leaves, the mean cop gives Bill a hard time about losing his pretty girl, and threatens him not to tell anyone about his black eye. Bill is then escorted into the courthouse and Vanessa is shocked to see his black eye, but he keeps up the lie that he fell down. Ross then announces that the DA is offering a plea deal. If Bill pleads guilty, they’ll get him out on parole and he won’t be able to work in the computer industry for years. Vanessa is upset because computers are Bill’s passion, but Bill says he’ll take it since there is no way to prove that he’s innocent. He reluctantly pleads guilty in front of the judge, but Vanessa is adamant that Ben will pay for this. Vanessa then starts to faint and Billy catches her. Ross comes back in and says the judge accepted the plea deal and they’re all happy that he’ll be out of jail. After everyone leaves, Vanessa tells Billy she’s going to be fine and he responds with ‘Darling, I hope so’. He leaves and she takes another pill. Back at the cell, the bad cop continues to taunt Billy, to the point where he says he’ll follow his pretty little girl home and have his way with her. That sets Bill off and he takes his baton and beats him over the head unconscious. Pilar and another guard then walk in and the guard grabs Bill and cuffs him, while Pilar looks at the cop and says she thinks he’s dead!
At Company, Ben runs into Vicky and tells her he thinks David was working undercover and he’ll get revenge for it. Vicky plays innocent and says she knows nothing, but he keeps threatening to go after David, so she gives up Danny’s name as being the one involved. Meanwhile, Danny tells Carmen he’s out of the family business (once again), and she pleads with him to change his mind. He says she has Ben to help her and that should be enough for her. Carmen calls him a disgrace and says if he walks out the door, he will no longer be her son. He says he’ll always love her and be his son, but he walks out and later tells Michelle what happened. Michelle is happy and Danny promises her that nothing will touch them now.
