I don't think Anna was part of the original plan Keith. Maybe Hogan would've done it but EJ came on during JER's run, or during the run of whatever ghost writer was writing at the time, so I would never expect from him even though there was that one Carrie/EJ scene where she said she recognized him.

I wanted EJ to be Tony and Anna's so bad and it sucks because it would've been perfect now but I am just happy we are getting Anna back.

I can't speak for everyone, but I don't give a rat's ass about Neilsen and his crappy ratings system. I watch my show because I love it. Just seeing these three old faces play off each other alone is going to be awesome.
