Steph doesn't deserve to go home this early - but it was inevitable. She was never going to beat the 3 other girl powerhouses.

I can't believe Chris R. was in the bottom 2. I wonder if Chris R. and Blake are too similiar and Blake is going to end up sending Chris home?

Phil, Haylie, and Sanjaya all need to go next though.

I'm not too brokenhearted about Stephanie. I liked her early on but she seemed to lose her likeability factor for some reason and she kept steering far too close to Beyonce for me.

I was stunned about Chris R. If you had asked me a week ago, I wouldn't have been but last night he showed his vocals and steered away from his similiarities to Justin Timberlake. He should not have been in the bottom two. Gina or Sanjaya should have.

Having said all that, Sanjaya should have gone and it appalls me to think he is going to be on the tour over someone like Stephanie.

He better be gone next week. No on deserves to go before him. Oh, and Idol exploited that crying girl WAY too much. If she was ill or a Make A Wish child, they should've said it because it came off really bad for me. I felt horrible for her.

It also seems like they got rid of the eliminated contestant singing at the end of the show. Either that or they ran out of time two weeks straight. I really hope that returns because at this point they are all winners and they should be able to sing once more for their fans. They don't need to remind us about the Idol charity thing and they certainly spend too much time recapping. The eliminations are so rushed now. The only part that is all around good on these results shows now is the guests singing.

I think America got it right with Stephanie but not with Chris R. The disparity between last night and previous weeks makes me wonder if his fans diverted their pity votes to Phil. Bet that won't happen next week and I hope Phil goes next week. I like Sanjaya and hope he stays for a few more weeks. The youngster has talent, looks and charisma. Managed right, he could be a HUGE star. Simon most likely is delighted that Sanjaya is there instead of Stephanie because he will pack the tour houses with teeny-boppers and old ladies :)

America has lost it. Stephanie was off this week, but no way should she have been in the Bottom 2 and went home. Chris Richardson definitely shouldn't have been in the Bottom 2 either. He was very good, I had him 5th place this week. The horrible Haley and Chris Sligh should been the bottom 2 and either of them sent home, these 2 suck. Gina even deserved it this week since she wasn't very good this week and I hate saying that since I've liked Gina since she auditioned this season. Sanjaya usually deserves Bottom 3 but not this week, he was actually shocking pretty good this week (I cannot believe I'm saying that,k but he truthfully was).

Haley was good this week and didn't deserve to go.

Sanjaya sucked and should of gone but compared to past performances, he wasn't that bad and of course with the crying girl that sealed his safety.

Stephanie didn't bring it this week. Did she deserve to go? Nope, but she just didn't bring it. Same for Chris R. I couldn't understand half of what he was singing and was totally forgettable so the bottom 2 didn't surprise me in the least. I would of liked to see the Bottom 3 instead of just the Bottom 2. I think Phil or Gina would of been down there with them. Possibly Haley.

I personally think Phil should of gone. He has his moments where he shines but overall, something about him I just don't like.

I called it before and I'll say it again: Sanjaya is this season's Kellie Pickler. Fans got him on the tour so now he'll probably get eliminated very soon.

But the thing with this season is that almost everyone is really good, so IMO, each week is going to be a surprise. One bad performance and ...

And about the singing ... they ran out of time. On Idol Extra on Fox Reality Channel, they recap the week, talk to the eliminated contestant, have interviews (last week was Carrie Underwood with S5's Lisa Tucker performing) and then feature the eliminated contestant singing on stage (like how the episodes on Fox usually end).

If Sanjaya stays another week, I may have to quit watching. It's just too painful. And that hair.....there are no words.

Gina was great. I also was surprised at how well Phil did tonight. It helped that he wore a hat and covered up his bald head because he really needs to grow some hair. Maybe he could steal a couple of Sanjaya's ponytails.

Pretty good show tonight. Blake is still my favorite guy and Gina is still my favorite girl. I know neither is the best singer in the competition, but American Idol is far more a popularity contest than a singing competition, so this year I'm through with voting for the best and am voting for my favs instead.

    • John Black actually was the ultimate good guy soap hero. So I don’t mind the town gushing over him. It’s deserved.
    • Be glad it wasn't a Perry production.

    • The whole town gushing over John Black as if he was a saint is eye rolling.  I guess death really colors people's memories over his many flaws, but I guess that is normal and human nature. I'm still confused as to why Leo hasn't been written out.  The actor stank up two soaps with his sub par acting, what does he have on TPTB's to remain on these soaps.   What's the point of Cat?  I hope the new head-writers figure out her purpose and develop her character. And I much prefer scenes not focusing on John's death because life does go on for the world when someone passes.
    • Wasn't there a break in Zaslow's first run? I thought Roger was off-screen for a while, and when Zas came back, Roger was hiding at the boarding house and Nola figured out there was something hinkey about him. I'm pretty sure Simon chose to leave the first time and was replaced by RVV. I don't want to assume Jordan's issues played a role in his first departure, but Maeve said in an interview that at some point, it became very hard for her to work with him and she asked to work with him less. That seems to fit 1986, where suddenly Vanessa is essentially Ross' law clerk and not at every Lewis family moment.
    • He needs to divorce her arse with her constant cheating.   She's no better than Doug... she's F*cking pathetic.
    • I didn't know of any interruptions for Maeve Kinkead after her 1997 return. Her runs would then be 1981-1987, 1989-1996, 1997-2000, short arcs until the end. I knew Maureen Garrett second run was interrupted from a 2009 interview but I couldn't recall the exact year. Her runs would then be 1976-1980, 1988-2000, short arcs until the end.
    • As I said in May, I have no problem with Martin and Bradley being married. You can still do all the fun introloper storylines with them as you do everyone else. Both men of a certain age, and it is very believable for them to have either a first love or have been previously married. And, you can do it without either of them cheating!

I said something similar during the premiere week. Bill was the perfect age to play Martin as Vernon and Anita's child. I would've much preferred this version, but oh well.
    • I don't know how you want to count Maeve. She "retired" in '00, but would come back for appearances. I don't know however if she made an appearance in '01 or '03. In '02 I believe she came back for Josh and Reva's wedding. I assume she came back when Gina Tognoni took over the role of Dinah. And I know she was back for Ross' memorial service. Maureen Garrett was around until at least '00. I don't think Holly was in town when Ben returned though. I just got pissed off about Jerry all over again.
    • So, pretty sure Zaslow, Garrett, Kinkead, and Newman all chose to leave the first time. (If that's wrong, please correct me). Bernau - not sure why he left the first time. Was it voluntary? Or did they decide to write him out? They were writing so many out during that time period. It always seemed odd to me that they introduced Alex, FINALLY giving him someone he could talk to, and then he was written out. Or maybe that's why they made Alex his sister, so she could take his place as the head of the Spaulding family? Would love more intel on that if anyone knows. Simon - was he replaced by RVV? Or did he voluntarily leave the first time? It seems to me like one of those times TPTB decided to sex up or glamorize a character (and it clearly flopped). If he was fired, interesting he came back. Again, would love if someone could spill the tea. Clarke - I've always assumed he left because of his personal issues, but not sure if that was the case the first time.
