November 14, 200718 yr Member I get help with ATWT/DAYS (because I get the Canadian credits) and I tape the end credits for the rest (American credits). It's good to have 2 VCRs (yes, I'm still using this old technology!). Poor Toups.
November 14, 200718 yr Member One thing that's occurred to me upon reading the touching letters some of the daytime writers have written about the strike- These are people paid to do a job, like all of us. The creative vision has largely been decided for them by a headwriter, and executives. They simply try to do what they can with the few angles they're given. I may hate GH and its focus but there are good rank and file people working on it trying to make do with Guza, Frons, Korte, and JFP. And Michele ValJean, who I once admired but frankly think went over to the dark side long ago. These writers may be talented people but they are paid to write about specific things. They are whores. The only negotiation is the price. (except for maybe MVJ) And that in no way expresses my feelings about most of the people striking. When it comes to ABCD, well ask anyone who's worked for Disney in a creative capacity. Brian Frons is merely the head dwarf of his little cottage and diamond mine. Let's call him CONTROLLY.
November 14, 200718 yr Member So do I get to be Frank Valentini? That would be a second tier dwarf called *Touchyfeely* from what I've heard. As a physician, you get to do that anyway and are certainly well beyond his playing doctor games. No, there is no ABCD exec that would be worthy. Edited November 14, 200718 yr by TC Greene
November 14, 200718 yr Member It would be comforting if it were that cut and dried, but I don't think so. Judging by that letter from Goldschwab...was it?...some of these people take some pride, however misguided or however forced they are to write for certain stories, in their work. Guza, Korte, etc. I consider hacks and whores, but I still respect their right to strike. The others, the underlings who have to write for the swill Guza and Korte plan, I can't say I know how they feel. Maybe you know more than I, but I can't say that.

I know I come across as extremely cynical, but I completely support their right to strike, for all of them. My opinion of their work does not matter. If it can be sold, they deserve a piece of what is sold. Some intellectual properties have no foreseeable shelflife, but we can't be sure.
November 14, 200718 yr Member I am usually just as cynical. I just had a moment. I also believe in rainbows and puppies.
November 14, 200718 yr Member I am usually just as cynical. I just had a moment. I also believe in rainbows and puppies. Really? Try being the rep for your union local. Within a few months you'll be wishing death on innocent children and looking for ways to murder frail old ladies. Nevermind all the puppies you've barbecued by then. I joke, but union work can drive you batshit crazy. Even the emergency room is easier. When you're home from the ER, it's over. Union rep turns you into a 24 hour grief hotline and more paperwork that keeps coming and coming and coming. We need unions but very few of us are cut out for their administration. It takes a lot of will to strike. I have to admire them for sticking to it.
November 14, 200718 yr Member I Rock!!! errrr....I mean Jim Reilly rocks!! Well, Toups, you might rock, but JER? I think not, lol.
November 14, 200718 yr Member So.. can anyone tell me more about Maralyn Thoma? At some point in the 80's I was watching DAYS and the writers credits read something like: Written by: Maralyn Thoma and Maralyn Thoma Maralyn Thoma Maralyn Thoma...etc. Do any of you know anything about this? Could it have been the 1980 strike? The 1988 strike? TIA P.S. It's made me curious about her ever since.
November 14, 200718 yr Member can anyone tell me a good site for Valerie Ahern & Christian McLaughlin? ot does anyone have a list of shows they have written for/time line?
November 15, 200718 yr Member Toups, who is this so called Script Continuity Supervisor, Jaime Lin-Yu on OLTL? Who brought her on, Frons or Carlivati?
November 15, 200718 yr Author Administrator Don't know. Heck, I didn't even know they had a Script Continuity Supervisor. It's been months since I last checked OLTL's closing credits.
November 15, 200718 yr Member Just putting this out there: I think with a different EP, and the same HW, OLTL would flourish.
November 15, 200718 yr Member Toups, who is this so called Script Continuity Supervisor, Jaime Lin-Yu on OLTL? Who brought her on, Frons or Carlivati? Linyu has been in the credits for awhile, as a writers' assistant. She may have a new title now, but her name has been in the credits for a few years and probably does just what it says - continuity in scripts.
November 15, 200718 yr Member Toups, I've havent looked for her name in the credits. I just saw online that she was there. It was Imdb which may or may not be the mose reliable. I'll look closely tonight as the show is going off.
