GH: Luke & Laura Wedding Ratings

from Mediaweek's pifeedback.com:

-Luke & Laura Still Pack a Ratings Punch:

Based on the fast nationals, ABC’s General Hospital, featuring the 25th reunion of Anthony “Luke” Geary and Genie “Laura” Francis rose to 4.0 total million viewers on Thursday, Nov. 16. Comparably, that was General Hospital’s biggest audience since June 2006. It was also the No. 1 daytime show for the week among women 18-49 (1.30 million: up 11 percent from its season to-date average) and female teens (71,000: up 53 percent).

My response: Not so much.

Ehhh!

4 Million, thats its!!

They bring in 3.3 million normally.

Looks like GH will be solidly #3 next week in the ratings!

In comparison to the first time when 30 million people watched - it's laughable. GH pulls in close to 3 million viewers daily, an extra 1 million not much of a gain.

Top 5 episodes of 2006

1. 4,088,000 (Monday February 6)

2. 4,019,000 (Monday February 20)

3. 4,012,000 (Monday January 16)

4. 3,871,000 (Monday June 12)

5. 3,833,000 (Tuesday February 21)

Since that 4.0 million was just the overnights, the final numbers could be lower or higher.

I expected a jump, but this is still quite disappointing, considering how much they hyped and promoted it.

I guess Genie and Tony don't have that star power anymore. :(

Perfect excuse for Frons to fire Geary now.

I think it's more of a combination bad marketing and smarter fans.

When GF's return was announced back in late June, the first comments they heard were "don't expect a Hallmark reunion", "GF's stay is 4 weeks" and "Luke has remarried".

Fans aren't stupid. They can put two and two together and know when they're being teased.

The potential for regaining lost fans was there, but viewers are at the point where they need something written in blood and the show decided selling cheap Sears rings was more important.

Their loss.

Comparing it to this week's B&B's ratings. 4 million viewers equals to about a 3.0 rating for the day. Not that great of a number.

I said when Francis's return was first reported it would be a bust and it was. Yet another GH gimmick for publicity. The sad part is they will probably submit something from Laura's return or the epidemic and get emmy nods galore. Those ratings for all the promotion and hype ABC did suck.

I am so glad fans were smart and didn't buy into this crap.

Phoenix, that is so true. I whole heartedly expect GH to win it's third (underserved) Best Drama Emmy. They will promote the hell out of all the (botched) returns and most likely submit tapes from the Virus (Tristian Rogers, Emma Samms) and Luke and Laura's wedding.

No it's not a good rating but some predicted they wouldn't even hit a 3

Yeah, but it's only a 3.0 for the episode. If the rest of the week pulls the usual mediocre numbers, they'll be lucky to get a 2.8.

How disappointing for GH.

Oh I agree with you Ponz. It is not good, but many did predict that they would not even be able to get to 3 for one episode during the return. It is not good, but at least they go there.
