ICAM, Vee. Those arguing that the dead should not have been brought back tend to overlook what this would have meant for Marlena. She would have been toast. Dee herself remarked at the time that she feared for the character's future.

At the point that Marlena was revealed as killer and later when Alice was killed and all is when I think the story changed from what JER originally intended. Esp the latter part anyway. I honestly think the killer was going to turn out to be Hattie and controlled by Tony or Stefano.

I think when fans got so enraged by the deaths, that either NBC or Corday got nervous and that is when they went for shock value with more deaths esp. Alice's, and planned the worse plot ever in Days history.

I remember Deidre mentioning something one time that she really was suprised the killer was actually Marlena, she thought it would turn out to be Sam (Marlena's twin) or some kind of double (the only double I remember was Hattie), which makes me wonder if the killer was going to be Samantha.

And I would have loved Sam to be the killer, just because she is my favorite character, but anyway....

I also think the SSK story would have gone better (and avoided the whole Island story) if more than just three victims had survived and people knew it. Now even though everyone survived, I mean like how Renee kept surviving the Salem Strangler's attacks in the eighties. Like mabye Alice survive, Maggie survive, and mabye another. Because some of those are people you didn't have to bring back, like Cassie, she pretty much had no story after she found out she was a Brady and she never had a story while she was being held captive and left right after she came back to Salem, I like her, but I almost wish that she had really died. I think Doug could have just stayed dead, because he had no story left really, and just suddenly popped up in Salem only to get killed.

The only three that survived and stayed in Salem were Bo, Hope, and Jan. And Jan wasn't even an intentional victim of the SSK.

Overall the SSK could have been great if it was written right, but instead it was wirtten horribly and around April it just sunk completely.

I think making the SSK Samantha would have been a great -- and somehow logical -- idea. Too bad TIIC didn't follow their instincts on that one.

GH's biggest mistakes:

Who was SORASed before their older sibling? LOL. That's outrageous. Even DAYS hasn't done something like that.

For example,on Guiding Light Leah Bauer who was born about two or three years ago is now a teenager.

Her big brother Jude who was conceived when Harley and Rick had just a little too much oozo to drink is still a little boy.

I disagree actually. This s/l was a great way to keep Sami on the show while Ali was away. And Dan Wells was just wonderful.

DAYS has done their own ridiculous history-rewriting SORASing... Shawn-D was born in 1987, Belle in 93, and Phillip in 95 (same year as Will) and then they're all 16 years old by 1999. Brady was born in 1992, 5 years after Shawn, yet he suddenly becomes 3 years older than Shawn.

And really, if Max was a pre-teen in the late 80's, shouldn't he be older than Sami? The way they brought Max back as a 20-year-old after having been gone for 15 years makes no sense either.

Almost everything on DAYS has been mentioned, but I want to add the creation of Broe, one of the most BORING couples ever to grace the show. Chloe already was irritating, hogging up airtime with her Ugly Betty routine, and she had a good guy in Philip. But then the writers had to trash his character to pimp Broe. I was glad when they finally left.

GH: The mob takeover. The focus is so much on Sonny, Brokeback Mafia, and sluts, that it shouldn't even be called General Hospital anymore. Other characters are destroyed to make the mob look good. Rehiring Guza was a big mistake as well. He doesn't know how to write for all characters, just his favorites and the ones he created. He's destroyed history, especially where Laura is concerned.

AMC: About everything's been mentioned.

GL: Any of their sci-fi/supernatural stuff (Clone Reva, Ghost Reva, the painting). It just doesn't work on a traditional show such as that. Not to mention probably the worst story of all time there, the Maryanne Carruthers mess. I used to watch GL in the late 80s-early 90s, so there is no way all those characters could have done what was written.

Writers should not ignore and/or rewrite history for the sake of trying to be daring and different and calling something their own.

Oh yeah, on Days:

Alex North. One of the WORST, and I mean WORST things ever done by JER. He totally ignored history, and I have remembered that even her parents, sister, and cousin have all been in Salem, and JER never explained the fact why they never told her she had a long lost husband.

It would have gone a little better if he turned out to be Stefano, but he didn't he had several different pasts and the character was flat out a wreck from the get go.

B&C's introduction of the alien storyline

B&C's failure to write more Sami/Jack friendship scenes (What a lost opportunity. They had good chemistry together)

B&C's introduction of the college dorm scene with Belle, Shawn etc

B&C/Higley's failure to pursue the Stefano's will storyline

Higley's introduction of Lucas/Cassie, especially that scene where Lucas and Cassie were in bed together, feeling each other up and all of a sudden Cassie cries out Rex (her brother) while Rex is sending telepathic signals to Cassie to stop having sex b/c Lucas and Cassie are brother/sister. I think that was one of THE worst scenes on Days I've seen and that's saying something for this show

The BIGGEST re-write in soap opera history: Erica's unabortion!!!!!!!!!! I mean, what the HELL was AMC thinking. You don't change a ground breaking event like someone having the first LEGAL abortion on TV!!!! That was beyond STUPID.
