Desperate Housewives: Discussion Thread

I found tonight's episode offensive. So Catherine decides to go muff diving out of the blue, just like she would say.. "Oh, I think I'll have the Kung Pao chicken tonight"! This whole wishy-washy/ fluid sexuality/ Anne Heche Bullshit makes me angry. It feeds into this "It's a choice" thing that the right wing uses against us. Marc Cherry should know better.

Even with Andrew, they had him initially say he liked, what was it, "chocolate and vanilla"? Then a few years later Cherry said something I think about having a story where Andrew would get involved with a woman, I guess to show what happens when a gay man does that. Then the strike happened and Andrew instead just slowly faded away (no big loss). I think the only time that a gay character isn't written in this manner is if they're written as bad jokes, like Lee and Bob.

Mark Cherry IS the right wing.

And Katherine(Dana Delaney's character) is a lesbian now? :lol::lol::lol:

Mark Cherry IS the right wing.

I thought he was gay? Or am I mixing him up with Darren Star? I just find it hard to believe that a straight man would create a show this campy.

In multiple interviews, Marc Cherry has stated that he's a gay Republican.

I wanted so badly for Andrew to just be bi and not gay because as hard as it is to get gay characters on high-profile TV shows, it's a hundred times harder to get a decently-written bi one, and I so wanted Andrew to be that. After Andrew came home from being a male prostitute, he was supposed to find out about Justin being in a relationship with a woman that he got pregnant, and there was gonna be story surrounding that, but noooope. Never happened. One thing I learned from being a DH fan was that Marc Cherry talks a lot of [!@#$%^&*].

No worries...I dont see this show lasting past next year. It's being beat by a reality show.

Yeah but for how long? this is one reality show I don't see lasting more than a season, maybe two-tops ;)

Marc Cherry has said multiple times he only had 7 seasons plotted out.... I think the plan from the get go was for the show to end in 2011. Just in time IMO.

I never knew that with Justin. I wonder if Ryan Carnes wouldn't return or they didn't even bother.

I think Andrew was just a poorly written character from the start. I think making him bi would have been more story possibilities but then he would have been yet another evil/mentally ill bisexual on TV.

The real problem if you ask me was that his relationship with Bree became much too ugly and dark during season 2. Much of Bree's story in that season was too dark and way too much for the character to handle, especially that weird stuff with the guy who had killed Rex and then became Bree's boyfriend. Then there was the rushed alcoholism story, and Andrew seducing her boyfriend, which was again very rushed and not followed up on in a serious manner.

I don't believe Bree ever recovered as a character. At the time people sort of pooh-pooed the idea but I don't think she was ever really that interesting without Rex in her life.

Yeah, I really don't know what's going on with Desperate Housewives, but this has been a terrible season. I think it may have started jumping the shark (for me) when Edie was killed off. They never even wrapped up the fact that Orson was the one who actually caused Edie's death bothers me as well. Not just that, but the story lines are TERRIBLE this season. This new stripper, whoever her name is, hooking up with Katharine, who is suddenly a lesbian? I like Drea De Matteo, but at this point, who cares about what her big secret is? I had a lot of fun with season five, but this year is just a DUD.

I like this season. The only story I hated was Bree's affair with Carl but thank god thats over with. Everything else has been pretty solid. LOVE Julie Benz on the show. She has been such a great addition

I don't hate this season as much as others here seem to do. It's an OK season. imo And the latest episode, 6.20 - Epiphany (perfect name btw) got me all emotional. I don't know if it's me being a mom or what it was. But what a sad sad story. The saddest part is that it's such a true story. There's lots of people out there who's just like Eddie, same background and all.

There's always a couple, or at least one episode/season of this show that'll get me to react this way. Gosh, I think I'm gonna watch this episode one more time this week.

THIS!

Last night's episode was great IMO. I was surprised at who the strangler actually was.
