I do not understand this man. He is the reason ABC haven fallen in the last couple of years. He is literally sucking the life out them. He wont try anything new but wants the same [!@#$%^&*] to continue and continue. He seem to think certain things are working and then keeps doing then until it is boring and predicatable. I understand there are core couples but even core couples need a dam break.

Use your vets more and stop putting them in the back and making newbies work more.

Well honey I remember you saying that old folks watch Y&R but they still keep kicking your ass in the ratings time after time and get this since coming on Soapnet their ratings has risen so what is your excuse for that.

STOP TALKING CAUSE YOU MAKE YOURSELF LOOK EVEN STUPIDER THAN USUAL!!!

YOU SUCK AS A ABC DAYTIME PRESIDENT AND RATINGS ARE PROVING IT.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I miss Angela Shapiro -- but she can keep her dreadful "Shop the Soaps."

I agree but it's hard to say who's to blame. I mean everyone seems to blame Brian Frons, who could be the main problem, I don't know. I don't really follow the ABC soaps. I know everyone used to blame MADD over at P&G. She's gone now yet GL still sucks & ATWT is ver uneven. Now everyone is blaming Ellen Wheeler. No one is angry with Barbara Bloom. Wouldn't she be to blame also? If ABC fans blame Frons then unhappy CBS fans should be angry with Bloom.

I don't really know or blame any particular person. I just think it's interesting her the blame always goes from one person to another & when that person is fired then the blame shifts to someone else. I'd like to know who's the main guy [!@#$%^&*] with our soaps! lol

It's not you don't worry. He is incredibly out-of-touch, shallow, arrogant and stupid.

I have never met Brian. But I do know people who worked with/for/around him when he was NBC years ago. And yes he is a shallow, sexist, ageist prick who thinks he is God. Yes I am going to attack him personally because I'm not speculating, I know this to be true.

What kind of jackass can fires someone like ANNA LEE?

What kind of moron makes DAVID CANARY an under-five character?

He has basically eliminated every single mature adult character on every single soap. Every actor fans hate, he loves. Every idea he thinks is brilliant, flops.

But moreso than Frons I think a large part of the problem lies with the fans (I'm going to get reemed for this I know). If people really put some effort into it he could go bye-bye. I don't know a single fan of any of the three shows that has a nice thing to say about Frons. It's not just one fanbase or fans of one soap, it's everybody. If there was somehow an organized effort to oust Frons I have no doubt he could go.

But it needs to be a bit more than a lazy online petition.

The problem is everyone assumes someone else will write a letter so they need not bother. And thus nothing changes...

I can't imagine the enormity of the campaign required to get a Daytime President ousted, we can't even get a HW gone.

Ratings, ratings, ratings are the only thing that will get him removed. But soap fans are notoriously loyal and try very hard to watch through the worst of insults because they love their show and its actors, Unfortunately, ABCD (and probably the other nets but I know less about them) exploit that loyalty to make changes in the show that will attract a new demo even if at the expense of the loyal audience's preferences.

So, I'd say soap fans hurt their own cause, but by not turning the channel much sooner than they do. But at the same time, I've watched through a whole lot of story I hated for the very reasons I cited earlier. What's a girl or boy to do? It's a difficult question.

I wish could, though fathom why Disney is so willing to forsake the ones who've stuck by them and want to like the show for teenage/20-something demo that does not appear to be coming after innumerable gimmicks to draw them in? I'm still seeing older-skewing (IOW, the unsexy ad money the net would prefer to throw over for highly targeted and I've read higher-paying, I've read) commercials on ABCD, so again I ask, what's been accomplished?

Why not try and make your existing audience thrillingly happy with the shows and let some good word of mouth spread? Plus, I don't think anyone at The Mouse gets that moms, aunts, babysitters and grandparents were the ones who brought the young 'uns to the shows. They still are and would do so more if they liked what they were watching.

I know Fronsie reads Y&R's ever growing numbers. Last I looked, ABCD (or at least AMC) gave Y&R a decent run for their money in 25-54. How hard is all of this to figure out?

So, yes, he's a moron and yes, he's an ageist, sexist, violence-happy prick (but then again so must be Mickey Mouse). And no slight intended Agnes, but even without inside info, we've all the proof we need everyday on ABCD, in soap mag quotes and interviews.

Lol oh I know. But some people get upset with personal attacks.

I wasn't going to mention this but what the hell I had one associate who came really close to taking action against Brian and some other NBC guy for sexual remarks they made about her.

Every time I see a picture of the guy he just looks so skeevy. He honestly creeps me out.

On a related not just got done reading an awesome Tristan Rogers interview where he took TPTB to task. Love him.

Bloom is the CBS daytime president right? I think things are different. Its one thing if 1 or 2 soaps are suffering. I dont think you can necesarily blame Bloom there, but here at ABC, ALL of the soaps are suffering and they are suffering from the same exact problems. Obviously its one person thats running things and imposing their vision onto all 3 soaps which is ruining all of them. Y&R isnt doing pretty well. B&B isnt suffering from the same problems as GL and vice versa. When you look at all 3 ABC soaps, you notice patterns and I doubt the EP and writer of GH is copying off of AMC and OLTL. Nope, there has to be someone above them trying to mold them all

And then, he's the jack@ss who hired McT for AMC...so for ABC he ultimately all of what's happened to AMC belongs in his lap. How that fall has manifested itself specifically on the show day-to-day and storyline-to-storyline is still McT's.

Which leads to me agreeing with the following statement:

at ABC, ALL of the soaps are suffering and they are suffering from the same exact problems.

He hired Higley too

I think in CBS's case, since the network doesn't own any of the soaps, they really don't have as much control over what happens, as opposed to ABC. I think that Bell Productions and P&G are the ones who do the hiring and firing on their respective shows.

I'm sure that CBS has some say on the content that gets put on-air, but I doubt that they can say that a certain actor/actress is getting too much airtime or vice-versa. They could always refuse to air the programs on their affiliates, but in terms of what goes on overall, the production companies have the final say.

Also, I've never heard Bloom say anything completely stupid, unlike Frons. She actually praises the soaps, especially GL, but not in the manner that would make it seem like she's pimping them out. Frons, on the other hand, will do whatever it takes to gain viewers, even making jabs at CBS by talking about how "unfortunate" it is that NBC gets snubbed at the Emmys. Does anyone honestly think that Frons gives a damn about NBC, especially when it consistently gets better ratings in a few key demos? He was just pissed off that ABC didn't do as well w/ the nominations, and tried to spin it as a CBS monoply.

Give me Shop the Soaps anyday over this Frons crap. He's ruining our soaps! I bet any of us could do a much better job then him. He's just super annoying. Can't wait until he's fired/steps down, if he ever happens LOL

The hope of getting Frons out all but died when Anne Sweeney promoted him, praising his cross-marketing endeavors. In short, creating such things as podcasts for AMC, selling soap ringtones, and the Enchantment cologne -- and the GH Allegra story capitalizing on Kelly Monaco's Dancing with the Stars success, takes precedence over creating a quality product to market.

I wish to heaven that a woman powerful enough to be named in Forbes 100 most influential women (I seem to remember she was something like number 14!) would be intelligent and principled enough to see the man's programming policies for what they are, but I suspect she only looks at numbers and marketing results and spin. Am I the only one who is noticing that since he took over, we now get press releases on Soapnet ratings? That's what he does, that is how he operates, and it would take a MASSIVE revolt (more than the trickle of departing viewers) to unseat him.

I think the departing of viewers has been more than a "trickle" and if it keeps up, then even, Frons will be in danger at some point.

Cross-marketing is actually one of the things, I think Frons has done well and is important to soaps. However (and a big one), I don't think that brand synergy should outweigh story content. Branding has to follow story, imo, not the other way around and NOT at the expense of the identities of the individual soaps in ABCD (both of which Frons is guilty of).

I was very excited about Anne Sweeney getting the ABC job. No more. Not only promoting Frons (which I saw more of a consolidation of managment more than an outright promotion), but the way she spoke of him (calling him an "honorable" man), made me all too aware that she'd just as out of it as the rest of him.

The big 9-11 propaga-er, movie event fiasco and though not sure if she initiated the project, but Mel Gibson (even pre-drunken, anti-Semitic oopsie) doing a docudrama on The Holocaust? Skeeery. They smartly dropped the project, but one has to wonder (Robert Iger, I'm looking at you) what Disney's thinking.

Frons is the PT Barnum of soaps, and we are his suckers. Wait, I don't like they way that sounds. Ew.
