  1. If he honestly believes he has any political future now as a national politician he's a joke. He's like Rand Paul. He smirks and preens and presents this image of independence and goes lock and step. Yes he'll go into the private sector and probably get a gig on MSNBC as one of those #nevertrumpers, most of whom actually showed their true colors through this, except for very few.
  2. Thank you for saying this. I've I guess normalized Trump or actually tuned him out for the most part. And when you do that you realize we are back to 2001 to 2008. Not much change.
  3. I cannot believe this is who is going to be confirmed to the court. This guy is angry and combative. And hostile to women that's perfectly clear.
  4. The guy refuses to ask for an independent investigation. He's showing he's extremely partisan and has no judicial temperament I can imagine how Dr. Ford would have been torn to shreds with this type of behavior but she's a woman. The hypocrisy in the justification of white male rage is on clear display to 300 million people. I was horrified by Anita Hill but I also don't remember Thomas aggressively going after female senators on the panel. A black man would have never gotten approved for doing that - oh wait again there were no women at the time on the panel. I can say I absolutely abhore Gorsuch's positions but his temperament and fitness never an issue.
  5. Thomas-Anita Hill is a good comparison in some ways but things people may have forgotten. Kavanaugh's polling in atrocious. Not that this should really matter but Thomas still was over 50% partially because he still had the support of the African American male community. So his nomination wasn't as partisan and it was still partisan, which tells you how bad it is today.
  6. A tad bit of levity perhaps in the midst of all this Apparently Trump avoided Justin Trudeau at the UN these past couple of days. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-09-27/trump-is-said-to-have-avoided-trudeau-more-than-once-at-un
  7. That's what it's like to live in the head of a delusional narcissist Although China has mastered how to play Trump probably more than Russia so they very well may have told him that while snickering behind his back.
  8. What a heart-wrenching day. We've been watching here at work and one of the women had to get up and leave the room in the middle of Dr. Ford's opening statement. It's also bringing back memories of watching Anita Hill live on TV and how gut wrenching that was. The optics are almost worse IMO here. The angles of Mitchell with the men all behind and around her is horrid. I find her interrogating Dr. Ford and her agreeing to do this incredibly offensive in particular when she claims to be such a champion for victims. But what's really bad is how Grassley has cut off the prosecutor he brought in repeatedly.
  9. So no surprise the feds have raised interest rates today and is expected to do 3 more increases next year. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-fed/fed-raises-interest-rates-flags-end-of-accommodative-policy-idUSKCN1M60EE
  10. I can understand that but that discounts that same history does it not. Many of the women who came forward are also African American, which was the point I guess I clumsily was trying to make.
  11. I'm not sure why people keep saying she was not personally impacted. It seems like she was drugged and gang raped herself.
  12. You're first instincts were right and you just should have not commented. Turning this into a racial issue discounts many of the women who came forward, regardless of whether you choose to believe them or not.. Second, I'd hardly say Cosby's career was at a high point the past 10 years. Yes much of that was due to age and him slowing down, but this idea he was persecuted because of the alleged purchase of NBC always struck me as some wacky conspiracy theory. I put him in the same bucket as Harvey Weinstein. Someone who had lost stature and who's trajectory was on the decline where perhaps women felt safer coming forward. We can look at how the Les Mooves allegations have been handled as to how those still wielding tons of power seem exempt and excused until an in your face moment occurs. And Moonves is still likely to get his 120 million dollar payoff. And he's still at CBS in a transitionary role. As to discounting some of the women, that's your choice obviously but he was not convicted of assaulting 50 plus women was he and his sentence was in line with his current conviction.
  13. No bail either pending appeals. He's going to prison today.
  14. I think there are some that are concerned yes myself including but are we really to believe the US invading or organizing a regime change putting our puppets in power is really the answer. I mean it's work so well before. Our gvmts motives have zero to do with helping the people and more to do with the Oil interests.
  15. I think people should be more concerned about Venezuela which people in the so called "non extreme GOP" seem ginned up on like Rubio. That talk about regime change in Venezuela frankly made me more nervous.
  16. I remember Paul Ryan and his "A Better Way" agenda and said he knew Trump needed a plan for his agenda - one of the reasons Ryan put this together. Obviously this ridiculous tax cut was part of it but Trump didn't help support it due to Paul Ryan's agenda, he's transactional and knew it would help himself. He could care less about Ryan's agenda or the garbage that was in it. I credit you for bringing up the US diminished role in the so called "world order". Bush made us a laughing stock and joke years ago. Obama tried to restore some of our leadership, but also had a number of his own foreign policy failures. My liberal brother said recently with all the NATO talk what NATO is is an outdated alliance and perhaps it's no longer needed. He's no Trump supporter but maybe their should be a realignment of sorts. But I don't think he was talking about the Saudi's, Israel, or even India or anything Trump is talking about.
  17. There has been some irresponsible reporting the past few days but this takes the cake. Rosenstein was never going to get fired today and I doubt he will Thursday. Between Jonathon Swan and his Axios story this morning about Rosenstein resigning to the NYTIME being so petty about Ronan Farrow and Jane Meyer's story to try and discount it are about the 2 most disgraceful journalistic acts I have seen in recent months and that's saying a lot. The Times learned absolutely NOTHING from the Judith Miller saga.
  18. Sorry Vee I am not discounting you or what you say. It's just very frustrating to me that this woman still has relevancy when her own coziness with the powers in the WH and the fact her mother does work for the Kuchnars should disqualify her from any reporting tied to it. Her being the main one on twitter pushing that Rosenstein story should tell anyone where the source of that story originated from and it was Trump or Bill Shine no matter what the talking heads debate. Does it really matter where Michael Schmidt got the info from, Haberman was the first one pushing this story on social media. My nephew's ( a Trump voter in 2016) wife is so pissed over this she has ordered him to vote against anyone republican and is talking to her friends in the neighborhood about going to vote together on Nov 6. Both are millennials. The only reason I mention this is she is one of the least politically aware persons I know. They have a 2 year old daughter and are expecting their next child in October that is also a girl.
  19. No offense Vee but why on earth do we care about Haberman. Her sources are either Trump or Javanaka so why are we supposed to believe she is credible. Actually Trump getting behind him might have made even more women step forward.
  20. Id tell Dr. Ford forget the kangaroo court. They don't care and it won't be remotely fair. Book an interview on 60 minutes - get some folks who can verify your story(psychiatrist, husband) and tell your story there. I am sure she has a ton of interviewers dying for this. She controls the forum and format.. The senate is going to do what they do.
  21. First that anonymous Op-ed, Maggie Haberman carrying water for the White House, and now this. This from Gabriel Sherman so we know exactly where this story came from Oh and this https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-venezuela/u-s-preparing-actions-in-coming-days-against-venezuela-pompeo-to-fox-news-idUSKCN1M12RF?feedType=RSS&feedName=worldNews&utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Reuters%2FworldNews+(Reuters+World+News)&__twitter_impression=true
  22. I have to ask why so man men are against allowing the FBI to investigate this allegation. It's rather enlightening that they peddle the 36 year timeframe but I have yet to hear one of them question the allegations made against priests by adult men who were molested and/or raped when they were children and teens. I'm not diminishing by any means what those men went through and they are incredibly brave to come forward. The Church is another antiquated patriarchal institution much like the US gvmt institutions and the power center worldwide. So going up against this takes a lot of courage. We've gotten to the point where those allegations are believed by these men now. But women still have to face this coming mostly from men but other women also. We see it time and time again today in 2018.
  23. Garland was pretty universally praised by the judiciary committee in his last appointment. Orrin Hatch gushed over Garland. He would have been easily confirmed with the 60 vote threshold still in place. No need to change the rules like McConnell did for Gorsuch. Garland is not a liberal. ObAma picked him again as a fair compromise choice so that the people he thought would accept the pick who voted for Garland before, wouldn’t spit in his face like they ended up doing.
  24. The only one who called Ellison’s accuser a slut and a whore was you. Says more about you that you would categorize another alleged, victim this way when reading reasonable responses from mainly women that don’t fit your trolling. So yeah I’d say just shut up and move on. and naturally no response to any of the reasonable discussion. What trolls never do.
