  1. Did Ina’s boarding house predate Myrtle’s in Pine Valley?
  2. Do you guys remember those scenes Ben and Ciara had with the tour guide in NOLA? They talked about the history of enslaved people building the property, as well as accountability/reconciling with the past. Their last scene ended on this spooky note of foreshadowing (at least to me), and this was before I knew about Possession 2.0. I admit my gut reaction was, “Lord Je… please do not tell me black ghosts are following these two back to Salem.” I mean my mind really went to some pseudo woke type paranormal storyline. Did anyone else get similar vibes, or was it all just about Ben Ben Ben and his fear of passing his genes onto a child?
  3. Deidre Hall and RSW were on her show today.
  4. Lol, okay. I think she’s pretty great, specifically in the very limited amount of her work as Iris I’ve been able to see/hear. But it’s very interesting that you say that, because not long ago I was thinking about how I read that she was the GOAT before I’d ever seen her perform and I wondered how that had influenced my opinions of her work. I was raised on ABC and when I started branching out, Marj was Alex. The first time I saw Beverlee was at the Paley Center in a ‘70s episode of AW. I had read about her voice so I was trying to keep it in my head now that I’d finally heard it (this was before YouTube and me buying dvds from Eddie). My mental touchstone for her voice was June Foray as Witch Hazel. I think he meant this one @amybrickwallace: https://www.facebook.com/scottmckinsey/posts/10224622024288179
  5. I thought about creating a thread citing casting decisions that worked out for the best. Specifically, characters that were created for or offered to certain actors, but another actor ended up winning the role and was pitch perfect. But this is all in line with the gist of this thread. Larry as J.R. Joan as Alexis Stephanie as Sable Linda as Felicia (I don’t think Jane would have stayed with the part. I also think she would have been absolutely comfortable playing the character as originally intended so Felicia wouldn’t have been softened and morphed into a sympathetic lead like Rachel.)
  6. Marj said in an exit interview that she loved that scene, slapping Roger, and Roger slapping her back. She felt like things were still exciting for Alexandra at that point and unfortunately that slowly faded.
  7. I still love Ruth Warrick, but Beverlee McKinsey's account of her has forever changed my view of the AMC legend lol. I mean, I knew she was eccentric. Susan Lucci said RW used to run around the studio in a mink coat flashing people. She comes across as so composed and together in interviews.
  8. I think you are right, he said something about tuning in one day and his logo was all in red. It may have been sooner, I just watched ‘98 credits and he is not there.
  9. Yes indeed, and I hope someone out there is saving all my stuff because if my page ever gets shut down it’s gone for good. The main reason why I started uploading to YouTube was to get rid of all those damn VHS tapes. A move and a much busier schedule has put me on an extended pause, but I still have a trunk of tapes to upload, mostly ‘90s stuff.
  10. I love Robin’s moment with Vicky Wyndham over their bond as meddlesome Rachel.
  11. Two primetime network hours devoted to soaps in such a loving way! That… thing with Andy Cohen that aired on ABC a while back can’t touch this special.
  12. Sandy Dvore said that after he finished the painting used for those two seasons, he threw it in the trash. The woman he was dating at the time said she liked it so he dug it out of the trash and presented it to the Knots producers and the rest is history. He was also upset that Y&R no longer credited him for his title design. He did all of the charcoal drawings in the early days and he created the YR logo. Notice the similarity of his YR and the way he scripted Knots Landing in the opening titles.
  13. You’re welcome. 😉 This is from my YouTube soap channel. I missed this the night it aired and a fellow soap fan from Montana IIRC was lovely enough to send me this back in the age of tape trade. She did an awesome Pause/Record job of editing out the commercials (not that I would have minded now vintage commercials).
  14. Mona had a drinking problem? @vetsoapfan@Paul Raven anything to share on this?
  15. No, I was just commenting on the drawing’s appearance. Here’s a brief glimpse of Carolyn’s Myrna in English. I posted this on YouTube some years ago, it’s from her A&E Biography. The episode is from the first week of the show, Tyler’s hero’s welcome home reception. At the time, that was the largest set ever built for daytime.
  16. Is that grey I see in little D.J.’s hair??
  17. Back in the day, I thought it was Drake before I read that it was Dee. It was Bill dubbing himself just as I suppose Dee will do once again.
  18. Is there a category for limited series or could it perhaps qualify as a special?
  19. I watch with the CC on and it annoys me that she is credited as “female narrator” just as much as it annoys me how Macdonald Carey is identified as “male announcer”. I’m sure there are union rules at play but it just seems hollow and disrespectful to these legendary cast members.
  20. The script for the final episode is also available. I wonder if it includes the stage direction of Rauch stomping out his cigar.
  21. @amybrickwallace posted an Etsy link in the Capitol thread which got me to clicking around. Perhaps it’s already been posted in this thread, but here’s a link to the script for the first episode: https://www.etsy.com/listing/866729714/santa-barbara-script-ep-1-1984-nbc?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=capitol+book+soap+opera&ref=sr_gallery-6-3&organic_search_click=1
  22. I was at a Maryland amusement park as a child in the eighties, and in one of the gift shops there was a large kiosk full of these for a variety of soaps. I’d love to read them, but at sixty bucks a pop, I’ll have to wait for a better deal.
  23. Just the one, to which my mother unmercifully remarked a few years later, “Why it look like she need another one?” LD said that she did NOT want to do a, “Felicia has a facelift” story, insisting that was Jeanne Cooper’s thing, so they sent her through a skylight.
  24. Speaking of the Lord family, I would love to see more of Victor’s sister, Gwendolyn Lord-Abbott (played by Arthur Miller’s sister, Joan Copeland, who is still with us at 99). She sounds like a Phoebe English Tyler-type, a meddlesome hoot.
  25. Was KK ill during the filming of the first reunion movie? I remember his voice sounding strained/shaky. It took me out seeing J.R. rolling around with Monica Colby. I mean, God bless Tracy Scoggins, but for a reunion movie of an iconic ‘80s primetime soap, I didn’t like them mixing brands.
