  1. She also had a short stint as a judge on Another World in the '90s.
  2. Rupert was interviewed for a British-made doc on Joan that used to air all the time on the Ovation network. My big takeaway from Rupert's comments was that, "Joan has a big dick."
  3. I wondered if TPTB didn't mind her having some of that Alexis Colby elan. I recall @DRW50 suggesting that Carmen may have read for Caroline and was later reconsidered for Iris.
  4. @Forever8, very interesting, never knew that!
  5. I'm really taken aback by Da Brat's silence.
  6. Agreed. Maybe not so much metal rod up his ass Travis, but definitely Dimitri. My mom always said she liked Jack with Brooke rather than Erica, and Dimitri was "time enough" for Erica, a better match. As the years progressed, Jack and Erica felt more and more like a default pairing to me. Had Nader stayed on the show, I think Erica and Dimitri would have had the long-lasting on again/off again that Erica and Jack got, but who knows.
  7. Wow! How has this gone unmentioned for all these years?? Maybe folks forgot, or just didn't catch it. I'm so glad Dorothy was picked to do it, and it really speaks to her popularity. I had never heard of Rita Mae. Looks like they were going for their own version of Opal. Lorna, you little bitch. That's terrible what she said to her ADOPTED brother. That original Loving theme is quite pretty. I've mentioned this before, but Steve Harvey uses it on his morning show for their soap parody.
  8. Yes, Iris mentioned quite a few times that her apartment was being built. The layout was very reminiscent i.e., nabbed from Alexis' on Dynasty. Iris also had a huge portrait of herself and Mac over the mantle. I wonder if Beverlee McKinsey kept the infamous portrait of Iris from the seventies.

I'm looking forward to this. But whenever I see a promo, I wonder just how many episodes they've got in the can. It would be a shame if they're dangling this carrot and it ends up being "a short-run series event." Called Filthy Rich at that. There was the satirical soap of the same name by Linda Bloodworth with Delta and Dixie pre-Designing Women.
  10. For you history buffs and David Selby fans, here is Selby as Abraham Lincoln and Craig Wallace as Frederick Douglass in a Zoom reading of Necessary Sacrifices.
  11. OMG, he passed!? Truth be told, a few years ago I wasn't sure that he was still with us and I Googled him. May he rest in peace. His scenes on S&S and GT are priceless, he found an indelible niche.
  12. I could buy Roberts Newman and Gentry as cousins.
  13. I am sad to hear about Billy Goldenberg. He wrote that gorgeous theme to Bare Essence sung by Miss Sarah Vaughan. I got to see him live in D.C. as he was Bea Arthur's accompanist in her traveling one-woman show, And Then There's Bea. They had a lovely rapport and I've seen him in other videos with Bea so I assume they were old friends.
  14. I totally got the hype because unfortunately too many viewers are accustomed to bad to mediocre acting. Zeroing in on the pool of young male soap actors, it's easy to see how someone like Pelphrey would stand out. He was a talented young actor with formal training and a degree from a well-regarded program. He wasn't some model who'd never even had a single lesson and "learned how to act on the job". I'm not implying that a trained actor is a superior actor, but training certainly puts an actor at an advantage. Pelphrey had his ticks and tricks like most actors and one could sense that he fancied himself in the lineage of his idols. But I'll take that over what I call the MWM, models who memorize.
  15. 😆😆😆 To be fair, I've noticed other times where she does this but appears to be looking for the little red light, making sure her camera is on her before she proceeds with her line/blocking.
  16. Classic Ruth Warrick at 3:23. 😆
  17. @All My Shadows @Jonathan I'm not sure that we ever learned Mona's maiden name, but remember the (major downgrade) 25th anniversary white linen opening? An engraved locket would appear by Erica's picture frame that appeared to have the initials MSK (the K being in the middle as it's a woman's monogram). I liked to think that the S may have stood for Mona's maiden name if not just her middle name. I dunno, it's a mystery. Also, in that article where we see that Erica's middle name is Louise, Susan makes mention of her stepmother and baby sister with different names than Goldie and Silver. I had no idea that the show mentioned these relations in the early days. We've talked about this over the years, and I'm another one who thinks Erica should have had a lot more family, from either side. It almost baffles me that she didn't. I think a cousin or even a young aunt who was about the same age would have been fun, I am a total sucker for the Alexis/Sable relationship and that could have been fun with an actress like Sharon Gabet.
  18. Potomac, 20854... I've read this a few times but I was never really sure if it was true or local lore promoted by students at Darren's alma mater.
  19. "I will not have her piggy little face on the cover of my magazine." 😆 Getting scenes like this must have been like vacation at work for Susan, an absolute ball. While I have lots of early childhood Pine Valley memories, I don't recall how Erica and Palmer first bonded and got so close. Anyone? OMG! I just realized that I may have led you astray. No harm no foul as you got to visit with Urrica irregardless. 😋 But I think the disco scene I'm remembering is actually a flashback from the week of 25th anniversary episodes.
  20. I just want to add that I was Christmas gifted All About Erica and the 25th anniversary book by two lovely girls who had major high school crushes on me. 😆 That soap special that aired a couple months ago borrowed quite a bit from that YouTube upload of AAE.
  21. Mickey Rourke 🤣
  22. I have the All About Erica VHS and there's a clip of Erica (complete with disco whistle) and company (including Mona and Dr. Tyler) gettin' down on the disco 'round. I just hate that it's copyright cleared music, I would love to know which song they were really grooving to. And thank you Carl!
  23. Thank you! My bad, I meant black father. I remember DWF from GL.
  24. I'm curious, what are the names of the black mother and biracial daughter on SB that Patrick mentions? I loathed OLTL's Rachel's descent into addiction, and as the child of a black parent and a white parent myself, it was not lost on me that the character literally grew darker before our eyes with recasts as she fell further and further apart. Optics! It's egregious when a show recasts black characters with no regard to complexion. Alimi Ballard to Jason Olive!? Monti Sharp to Terrell Tilford!? You've essentially rewritten the character's history. I'm not sure that daytime has touched upon colorism since Carla Gray.
