  1. My grandparents watched every day for decades and my grandfather could not STAND him. A favorite family anecdote is when Grandaddy accidentally turned to channel 9 instead of 7, saw PB on Y&R and blurted, “Ohhh SH!T.”
  2. I was two minutes ago years old when I found out they were related.
  3. Thanks to @teplinfor sharing a wonderful interview of Beverlee McKinsey that her son Scott posted. Click on the link and scroll down. I encourage you to watch the full interview but I’m sharing this with AMC fans for the juicy and hilarious dish starting 36 minutes in. https://www.facebook.com/scottmckinsey Are you serious?
  4. Ah, thank you!
  5. Oof. Is there a date for this article? I’m wondering if this was Tyler’s hero’s welcome home party from the show’s first week. I recall reading that the set they built for the gala was at the time the largest ever created for a soap opera. I believe OLTL’s great hall of Eterna later claimed that distinction.
  6. Years ago, someone here at SON posted that CVE and Susan didn’t get on, but I can’t verify that. I must have been in elementary school, but I recall what may have been their first scene together. It was at the health club and Erica was on an exercise bike when Charlie approached her. The three Charlies that I remember had such different vibes it’s easy for me to dismiss their connection. For instance, the fact that Charlie was so deeply involved with Erica’s niece Julie didn’t really occur to me. And Christopher Lawford felt like a totally different character
  7. I’m a little surprised that Kelly and SMG are buds IRL. SMG was on Live! one morning (years ago, Regis was still on) and there was absolutely no mention of AMC and Kelly seemed like she could hardly stand to be focusing on SMG.
  8. How about Adam's son Miguel on AMC during the J.R. cancer storyline? It's sad how much I've already forgotten about AMC's final years. I do remember a fair-skinned dark-haired Latino character who was on the show but I cannot recall his name. I think he was involved at the hospital but I'm not sure. I can see his face but I can't remember his name.
  9. I was doing summer stock in upstate NY and we were having an open forum with the fellows. I was pleasantly surprised when one of the theatre professionals used his friend/colleague Cusi Cram as a perfect example of a young artist who didn’t feel compelled to stay in the box of “actor” and completely flourished in other areas of the industry. Of course I was the dork to shout out “One Life to Live!” (followed by, “Yassss!” from a young actress) when Cusi’s friend referred to it as “the soap”.
  10. @j swiftyou are correct, she omitted an I after Chuck’s father’s name. Now that I think of it, Phoebe and Capitol’s Myrna Clegg were similar characters. Both sharp-tongued meddling mothers often up to no good who married men who were already fathers before they had even more children of their own. It makes me curious about old stereotypes of “the second wife”/wicked stepmother trope.
  11. Anna Claire’s funeral was so sad, I remember they played Clapton’s Tears in Heaven while everyone stood at the gravesite. I can still picture Gloria’s lost, devastated face. Erica gave Gloria Mona’s bible after the service which led into some really great scenes with Erica and Dimitri who had been estranged (a stabbing will do that). Poor Gloria, she really went off the deep end. Poisoning Adam’s rice pudding. 😂 David Canary clutching his gut...
  12. Somewhere in this thread, @DRW50 posted a picture of Nancy Pinkerton standing next to Dorian’s portrait that replaced Eugenia‘s over the mantle. Someone posted that a new portrait in Claire Malis’ likeness did appear on the show. I’m not sure why it was taken down as it’s noticeably absent in the episode posted. Strasser’s infamous Dorian portrait was actually intended to be a newly commissioned one, it was a gift from Cassie. At 8:13, a little more Malis (with Jane Badler as Melinda) for those who may have missed it: https://youtu.be/iICqNUtA4ug
  13. “Bitch! ... Bitch!” Lmfao!

What a [!@#$%^&*] brat. Sara asked a great question and gave Megan a wonderful opportunity to provide an insightful answer. This makes her look like someone incapable of a spontaneous reaction, like she was miffed that she didn’t have time to prepare her response.
  15. I guess all of the above, but I think more specifically, it’s Dorian and Larry’s contentious history at the hospital.
  16. Same [!@#$%^&*] different decade good actors never get what they deserve while the shittiest of them are drowned in green.
  17. @DRW50I think you can back me up on this from articles you’ve posted, but the show lost Nancy Pinkerton because they refused to meet her salary request when renewing her contract. She walked on her own accord. Other accounts of history note the show’s “necessity” to recast in order to retain the character of Dorian as no viewer could forgive and forget her egregious acts while looking at Pinkerton’s punim day after day. I’ve listened to some of her audio recorded episodes, but this is only the second video of Pinkerton as Dorian that I have seen, and I find her transfixing... her voice and speech, those deep brown eyes, and that palpable subtext. There’s a potently dangerous undercurrent to her most benign gestures. She’s presenting kindness, even sweetness, but she’s not to be trusted. I wish Pinkerton and Malis could have been interviewed for the oral history. Malis reminds me of Meg Foster with those eyes. She looks sleek and chic for the most part. For a moment there it seemed like they were going out of their way to make her sympathetic but then she had that Angie Dickinson dressed to kill moment with the accountant and that made me wonder just who was Dorian at this time. I would kill to see more episodes of this era.
  18. Good Lord, I haven't thought of Claudia Cohen in decades, and you're absolutely right, I exclusively knew her from Regis and Kathie Lee. Nice subtle touch of tape on Arthur's glasses. Look at Phoebe on her Trevor Dillon flip phone. Interesting seeing her interact with Isabelle in the form of Pat Barry who played her sister-in-law, Peg English.
  19. Wow, I wonder when was the last time soap actors were afforded the luxury of a table read.
  20. A hardcover of Eight Years in Another World is a rare expensive find, so I wanted to share that it's available for Kindle. I just bought a cyber copy for a little under ten bucks.
  21. I haven't watched these episodes yet, but I remember Lee Chamberlin (sporting long blonde locks) made some appearances as Pat when Angie and Frankie moved to Corinth. Alimi was such a good Frankie. I'd like to forget that Jason Olive was ever cast.
  22. Thanks for sharing this, and I agree with you about the narration. I like their kitschy retro kitchen. What surprises me is seeing Alex portrayed as the younger sibling. Was that long established? It certainly never felt that way to me, nor was it based on the various actors' ages.
  23. Are there any episodes from 1963 available? I recently discovered that yet another former teacher of mine appeared on the show and it would be a hoot for me to see her. Her name is Joan Potter and she played Linda Ward Carter in a week-long arc.
  24. One time Oprah quipped, "Y'all think y'all Erica Kane with all these men..." I did a play called Jefferson's Garden which dealt with this subject. Sordid stuff. Sally was a CHILD, early teens while Jefferson was in his forties.
