Believe me, that's as diplomatic as I can be about Hunt Block. I guess I have to credit Sheffer with some kind of success in keeping ATWT afloat...but damn that man for ruining Craig (and Paul, but that's another rant...) and undoing YEARS of story to service his obsession with Hunt Block, who couldn't wring water from a sponge if he was on fire. I wouldn't say upset....but I admit, I couldn't not say something! LOL. In theory, a rebooted Craig would have been fine. IMO, Hunt Block was simply the wrong person to be someone so iconic to the show. Showing emotion was not his strong suit, and the writing played to that, disastrously. As much as I hated him on ATWT, I loathed him on GL even more. I'll never forget Blake crawling across the floor to get away from him, only to give in and screw him anyway.

ICAM!! As talented as DM was, I think he could write things into the ground. Poor Iva always got sand kicked in her face. Sometimes I wonder if he purposefully kept Iva tragic, to keep her separate from Nola, who he'd also written. But Kirk/Iva were my favorite couple. Damn I wish I'd kept my videocassettes of them.

I have no clue what the "thankless bit" was at the end of ATWT, but Rebhorn was one of the best examples of the genre. While some actor's success outside of daytime surprised me, his never did. He was the personification of evil, but not in the typical supervillainous way---in the ordinary, every day way that lurks in society.

Incest does seem like a recurring theme in Marland's post-GH career. I think the Angel incest story was more happenstance, as I believe the scab writers sent Holden off with Angel during the strike. I'm not sure there was any backing off in the Iva/Josh story, since I think her being adopted was always the plan.

Y'know, those scenes reminded me why I loved Scott Bryce and Craig so much. Obviously, this is at a point where none of the Snyders know Lily is Iva's daughter or Josh isn't their cousin or the fact it was rape. Marland was always a master of drawing out the story in a believable way. Seth somehow found out about the pregnancy, but Iva's still hiding details until she can't avoid spilling some more. I always loved how protective the Snyder boys were over Iva where Josh was concerned. Is Tad dead at this point?

Not only did they succeed in surprising the viewers, they surprised the cast. I know CZ has told the story about how secret they were---I don't quite remember all the details, but basically the set was shut down except for her and a bare-bones essential personnel. I'm not even sure she knew he was under that monk's robe until he revealed himself. I need to find that story. Anyhow, about the Dobsons---y'know, it's the era. They were a radical departure from what ATWT was. I think it was the fact they were copying the GH/IcePrincess mode drama that rankled. I don't remember a lot from that time, but I know they went to pretty ridiculous lengths. I remember the 1800's costume-y Babs hallucinations were she "met" Gunnar and the endless "what is Bilan?" mystery. It was too much camp, too fast. I'd argue the core of ATWT just didn't like, want or need camp EVER. I remember cringing through a lot of the last ten years through crap like the Keys to the Kingdom contest, the teen college tour, Rick Decker, etc, because that's not what what I wanted or where ATWT was ever really successful at. (Camp being different from humor..)

I wish I could remember why exactly. I'm too lazy to go and seek out the rest of the clips. Like, why did Hal consider Dani such a bad influence? I remember Barbara practically hating Nikki, thinking she was a little slut (something about having Jeremy up in her bedroom strikes a chord in my memory). But I thought Dani was the good girl in all of that.

NCIS: Discussion Thread
I'm sure this makes me a hardass, but I don't give a bleepin' rip about McGee's practically unseen girlfriend now being paralyzed. I don't "know" her. I knew more about the lie detector tech that had a crush on McGee than I know about Delilah. And as much as I love McGee, Sean Murray has two expressions. Constipated and more constipated. I did however love seeing Rachael back. I think she should be Gibbs' next ex-wife.
