General Hospital March 2022 Discussion Thread
Two that I can think of right off the bat: 1) Greg (Laurence Lau)/Jenny (Kim Delaney)/Jesse (Darnell Williams)/Angie (Debbi Morgan)/Liza (Marcy Walker)/Tad (Michael E. Knight)/Amanda (Amanda Bearse)/Alfred (Bill Timoney) on AMC. 2) Phillip (Grant Aleksander)/Beth (Judi Evans)/Rick (Michael O'Leary)/Mindy (Krista Tesreau) on GL.

Days of Our Lives: March 2022 Discussion Thread
Here's what I want to know: have SSH and SR ever criticized RC's writing, either to the media, or BTS? Because, if they have, that might have something to do with his treatment of them in his work.

Yup, it is, lol. I thought it was Beth? Maybe Dinah was making those cracks, too? IDK. It just seemed like cheap shots at the ALWAYS gorgeous Maeve Kinkead's expense.

Days of Our Lives: March 2022 Discussion Thread
Probably. I remember various characters referring to her as a "slut" on several occasions - beginning immediately with Echo's reintroduction at Dorian's house. Maybe they were all references to the fact that KZ once portrayed the self-proclaimed "Slut of Springfield," but if you never watched an episode of GL in your life, then you probably never got the jokes - if that's what they, in fact, were - and if you didn't get the jokes, then you likely thought it was cruel, even toward a known homewrecker like Echo DiSavoy, and, well, slut-shamey.

Days of Our Lives: March 2022 Discussion Thread
That's the thing about Ron Carlivati: it all looks and sounds innocent enough AT FIRST. Then, one crack becomes two, two cracks become three, and so on and so forth, until it's practically all you hear and/or see whenever the actor/character is even mentioned. It's what eventually happened with Sean Kanan and the "fat jokes" on GH - not to mention, Heather's sudden, irrational cravings for BLT's on the same show - as well as what happened on DAYS with Julie and all the times RC had her spitefully call Gabi "Chiquita." (I swear, there's literally an entire generation of DAYS fans who are CONVINCED that Julie, once one of daytime's most complex and beloved anti-heroines, is a racist old bitty, and that's enough to make me cry.) I wouldn't be surprised if, before too long, he'll have EVERYbody in Salem making cracks about how long in the tooth Maggie's getting while she suffers from bladder control issues and "leaks" on her and Victor's couch. That crass, unfunny jackhole just doesn't know when to stop.

ALL: Favorite Soap Special Episodes, Standalones, and Stunts
Agree. If Frank and Ron (and ABC) wanted to bring OLTL fans over to GH, why not just hire two or three of the most popular actors from the former show to play newly created roles on the latter one? I mean, that's kind of what they ended up doing anyway, so....

Days of Our Lives: March 2022 Discussion Thread
Suddenly, I'm having flashbacks to all those times when Ron Carlivati would write "AJ/Sean Kanan is SOOOOOOOOO fat" jokes on GH.

For me, all the magic for the NB left the year PC tied it in with the General Homicide murders. But, leave it to Lynn Marie Latham to take something that was supposed to bring awareness to AIDS and turn it into a backdrop for a grisly, confusing serial killer tale.

DAYS: Fire Jamey Giddens!!
Why do you insist on that (our going off as fans and creating our own shows) as being the solution to all the troubles that plague these shows? Sure, we could go create our own stuff if we had to, or wanted to, but why should we? Why can't we just hold to the proverbial fire the feet of those who are being paid to write and produce the shows still on the air? Is it really so bad just to ask those jackholes to do better, to try harder, to not bore the audience or insult their intelligence or tastes on a regular basis?

The Politics Thread
I tend to think it's the former. People joke all the time about "participation trophies," but they're real, and who do you think "earned" them? It certainly wasn't the Gen-X'ers! We were conditioned to live in a society that didn't give a [!@#$%^&*] about us, lol!

Days of Our Lives: March 2022 Discussion Thread
Believe me, I hear ya, lol. IDK whether *I* can truly refrain from mocking or tearing apart this show and Ron Carlivati's godawful writing. I know I should just...move on, but I also know it's never easy. She behaved nothing like any human being anyone has ever known - but you're right, that's a whole other thing. Ugh. As much as I would LOVE to see GL/Liz again, I DREAD what "magic" someone like Ron Carlivati would have in store for her, lol.

Days of Our Lives: March 2022 Discussion Thread
DAYS is obviously so fond of bringing back people on an off-contract/recurring basis, they could have done the same for Joe Gallison (unless, of course, JG is not at an age where he'd be up for returning even occasionally).

The Politics Thread
At the risk of overgeneralizing, I think most millennials and Gen-Z'ers have this tendency to be not even remotely interested in anything that occurred before their time. In their minds, the world is [!@#$%^&*], and it's all our faults, so anything the rest of us have to say about anything is not worth paying attention to. At all.

DAYS: Fire Jamey Giddens!!
When you're right, @Vee, you're right. I said what I said to Ron Carlivati on Twitter, because I felt his attitude toward his critics was not constructive. I mean, if he feels what he's written is good, then whatever. Just don't act like an ass when others disagree. But again, @Vee, you're right. Calling him out on his (mis-)behavior on social media solves nothing and changes nothing. At the end of the day, he's still the one writing that [!@#$%^&*], and we're still the ones who ain't writing at all. Ob-la-de, ob-la-da, life goes on.

I remember when I was still a teenager in the '90's and I would hear all the what-about-the-children jive coming from certain quarters. Even THEN, I knew what these so-called concerned folks were REALLY saying. Again, ladies and gentlemen, let's hear it for us Gen-X'ers, the only generation who knows horse manure when they hear it!
