  1. This scene is just...exquisitely written Maureen: Living in that house, sleeping in that bed with him, it has all become such a habit to me. That the first thing I thought was that somehow it would resume. That it would go on. That I would forgive him. That I would listen to him the way that I have for all these years. To that list of his sadnesses and his hurts about how wild and crazy he is on the inside. And that it makes him do selfish things instead of being good. And that I would finally agree that heaven disappointed him and drove him to it. Ellen Parker is just astounding in all of these scenes. I can't get over it. And Maureen was an angel of a soap character. This is on her list of "crimes committed" from soap central: Nearly burned down the Bauer house on Skyline Drive, when she forgets about a roast in the oven.
  2. @vetsoapfan I found that obituary as well and I don't think that's her (the commenters don't match the names any of his family members that I know). Thank you again. I'm visiting him sometime this year and will try to get a picture of her around the time she was on the show.
  3. Thanks for trying, I was able to pull another detail from my friend, she was only on the show for a year. Also he's biased but said she looked like a young Elizabeth Taylor.
  4. Man, you guys are awesome! Seriously in awe... @All My Shadows Thank you! Even knowing that one year is going to make my friend and his family very happy. Apparently she followed her time at SS with a stint on Broadway. @slick jones Thank you! Yeah my friend was telling me about his step grandfather Dolph (I forgot the affectionate name they had for him)!
  5. Hey, I'm trying on find information on an actress that was this show in either the 60s or 70s, Iris Braun. She was my friend's grandmother. Unfortunately he doesn't know anything about the role she had. If anyone knows anything about who she played or has pictures that would be amazing.
  6. Laura Bell Bundy is also in the newest season of Fuller House.
  7. I know who she's playing, I was just saying she's visually similar to comic book Mary Jane, beautiful and statuesque.
  8. *Black women It's pretty amazing because after 14 films Marvel has only had one non-white leading lady and she was covered in green paint (Zoe Saldana). Anyway, that trailer looks great and Laura Harrier is beautiful and woke and looks closer to comic book Mary Jane than Kirsten Dunst ever did (fight me). This is a deep cut but Virginia Williams played Brandy Taylor on ATWT about 14 years ago and is on the most recent season of Fuller House. I remember her because I liked her and thought she was much better than the bit part they wrote for her.
  9. Ray Wise, Julie Berman, Kerry Butler and Carolyn Hennesy are all in the Netflix Gilmore Girls revival.
  10. He played a bartender and waiter, an under 5 I'm assuming.
  11. Andrea Navedo (who is on the terrific Jane the Virgin, watch it!) speaks on her experience on One Life to Live: ======= Then when you started your acting career, your first stop was One Life to Live — a soap. Different than telenovelas, but still a soap. Yes, but still dramatic [Laughs]. Totally dramatic. I read that you were disappointed in that role because it turned out to be more stereotypical than you thought it was when you auditioned for it. I felt like I had been duped. It was one of my first professional television auditions and I was just starting out in the business. I didn’t know that sometimes when a show doesn't have a character written yet, they will use a previous character that has been shot already in a scene to audition someone. But I was not aware of that at the time. So when I got the scenes for the audition, I thought that was the character I was auditioning for, and she was like the girl next door. She was almost a Jane-type character and it was a leading role and I thought to myself, This is perfect for me. I'm the girl next door. I felt like I was, and why shouldn't I be a leading lady? I was really excited and I prepared a lot for the audition and went in and read for casting directors and I really did well. They called me back again and I did it well again and actually right there in the room, they offered me the role, which was never heard of. I was so surprised, so excited. I was walking on cloud nine and they said, "The role starts tomorrow, are you available? Can you do it?" I’m like, "Yeah, absolutely!" They asked if I could go to a fitting right then. When I went to the fitting, they had me try on different outfits, different kinds of clothes that didn't make sense to me — mini-skirts and a combat boot and bamboo hoop earrings. I was like, "This is not fitting with what was on the page." I asked, "Why are you putting these clothes on me?" They go, "Oh, well she's the girlfriend of a gang leader." I was so crestfallen and heartbroken when they told me that. I thought TV was turning around and it was starting to see Latinos in the mainstream and in a new light and not only in negative stereotypes. I was really, really hurt only because it was the first major TV role I had been offered and I felt torn because, on one hand, I didn't want to participate in the stereotype, but on the other hand, I wanted to work and I had to pay my bills [laughs]. So I really felt like I was painted into a corner. I did decide to play the role, but I chose to play her not exactly the way she was on the page. I tried to not do all the stereotypical things that you would think this character would do, and I gave her a conscience and a heart. The role ended up lasting for two and a half years, and the character changed over that time when she became a good girl. So that was good. I think a lot had to do with the fact that I wouldn't play it the way it was on the page. ========= I have no idea how to quote things on this board now but that's it. Sad. I'm pretty every person of color on a soap in the last 20 years feels this way.
  12. Peyton List is still awful. She ruined the Tomorrow People. The producers spent way too much time highlighting her dead eyed acting. I didn't see that but she was pretty good in Frequency.
  13. Abigail Spencer (Becca, AMC) and Peyton List (Lucy, ATWT), two of the worst actors I've ever seen on soaps, are inexplicably headlining two network series this fall, Timeless on NBC and Frequency on the CW. They've both improved a lot since their soap days of course and gotten a lot of series work in the interim. And both shows are pretty solid so good for them.
  14. Its all weird though, you like weird movies. Fight me!
  15. That movie is right up your alley. But who is from a soap opera in that? Serious question, I don't recognize anyone.
  16. Speaking of Brittany Underwood I saw her in a Lifetime movie this past weekend with former Grace Turner (Y&R) Josie Davis. Davis is in a LOT of these movies and she always plays a psychopath. She's great at it too. I think she just has one of those faces.
  17. I thought it was Jared Padalecki. Renee is right about soaps, but didn't she leave because contract negotiations fell through? Maybe she wanted more freedom than they'd allow.
  18. Kelly Sullivan and what appears to be Heather Locklear star in Tyler Perry's Tyler Perry's Too Close to Home (this one has exactly one black castmember, so some of you might feel comfortable watching it!)
  19. She's beautiful and statuesque, calm down.
  20. She's all of 26 years old...geez. Let her live. I know she's not but I really want her to be Mary Jane, she's got the right look.
  21. I am thrilled for her success. It just sucks that Hamilton is losing yet another original cast member.
  22. Oh our halcyon days of yore.
  23. You just bide your time until they're of age, don't you? Leave! Get out! Right now! It's the end of you and me! What a #throwback!
  24. You just bide your time until they're of age, don't you?
  25. Oh it's stark. And I like them fluffy but he doesn't look so hot.
