  1. After a pretty solid few weeks, every episode was can't miss for me, Thursday's ep was a real STINKER. I should've been here praising those episodes but I was too busy enjoying them I guess, instead now I'm back to say the most recent ep stunk. Clunky dialogue, terrible flirtatious dialogue (Liz/Lucky, Sonny/Natalia, Cody/Molly, even Ric and Ava!), odd pacing. What time of the night is it exactly? Okay fine Laura's working late at the office but the mayor calling someone, in this case...Jenz (Jesus Christ) Sidwell, at what looks like 10pm is just weird. Speaking of weird, so we have Joss allegedly in the throes of her grief telling Lucas how she's hell-bent on justice for Dex...with hairclips in her hair? It's fine that they added a cute moment but she kept them in her hair the entire episode. It was distractingly dumb. She's talking about the serial killer who murdered her boyfriend here, have her do a bit of business where she removes the goddamn multi-colored hairclips. I'm sorry but a scene with Maurice Benard, who barely bothers to act, Stephen A. Smith, who cannot act, and Eva LaRue, who doesn't know why she's here but she needs the health insurance, is almost torturous. I guess Jordan, Alexis and Kristina were all together at the bar interacting??? The energy was so muted. I blame the writing mostly but the director didn't know what to do with any of that (can't blame them!). Then again it could all just be that this Jordan acts every scene as if she's meeting her co-stars for the first time. Goodness, she is so pretty but NOTHING is going on there. It's the same tone and expression no matter what's happening. I hate to say it but if they wanted to push forward with this Jenz Sidwell guy as new PC resident and lady charmer they really should've cast someone a little...ya know? I mean, he ain't ugly but he's also barely 5'8" with a questionable accent. We already have a pint-sized egomaniac! I'm all over the place...like that episode! Kristina's opening was a ho hum affair, what was even the point? This town didn't need ANOTHER place to sit down and banally speak about nothing. She's not having any first day mishaps, there's no big opening speech, no crowd, it's just...here's her new lounge! She looks so at ease on their opening day, just pouring drinks in her little ponytail. Her bartender got arrested? No skin off her nose! She'll just do it herself! You know, it's not like she's the owner or anything. And why the hell isn't Lucky immediately going back to work! It's opening day! You just got the job! Yes, yes, Serial Killer Cyrus > Charli's but yeesh, at least let him show some urgency. Just a quick "oh shiz I gotta get back to work!".
  2. Ha, it really is! I just can’t believe daytime hasn’t truly excited me since around 2004 when we had Bianca’s baby switch, Sheffer’s ATWT and when Y&R was still watchable. That’s the last time it was telling stories I felt I needed to watch. And to watch two black women talk about the new show they created and their love for the genre…just means so much to the little black boy who only loves daytime because of a black woman (miss you ma). These accomplished black women spearheading this new show after 20 something years of being aware that black viewers have been undervalued and underrepresented, despite being a well known, significant and stable part of the audience, it’s just incredible that we’re here. Don’t get me started on how Tamara Tunie, Daphnée Duplaix and Karla Mose, who are all talented and accomplished actresses done so dirty by daytime…wasted, disrespected and dismissed while lessers got to shine. Can’t wait to see the new promo. It looked like everyone was in all black and I swear some of the women were wearing those church lady hats! But idk!
  3. I can’t be bothered to be more articulate than this (or type up my full thoughts) except to say that segment was incredible and here are my immediate reactions shared with a friend (!): I really hope this is a return to form for the genre. Haven’t been this excited about daytime in maybe 20 years (which is a crazy thing to type out).
  4. She and Daphne look great, Karla Mose's looks hideous but seems to fit the character. I think they're all styled well though, I like that they're using the same color palette.
  5. Ah okay, I thought maybe they'd told outlets to no longer refer to it as CBS Daytime.
  6. I think you're right...I just haven't heard her voice in so long.
  7. What's the lore here? The voice saying "Welcome to Fairmont Crest" sound so familiar, who is that? The promo was fun, it's hard to say if this looks much better than GH or B&B (the only soaps left that seem to care even a little bit about how they look) but it looks good.
  8. They have Kristina putting the K in See You Next Tuesday...and frankly I love it. Current day daytime is lacking in divisive characters, ones meant to intentionally piss off a segment of the audience. GH, the only soap I've watched a full episode of in nearly 15 years, is weighted down with milquetoast "good" people. Even Sonny, the world's most progressive crime lord, spends most of his screen time giving sage, saintly advice to decent people. Kristina though? Despicable, selfish, incapable of thinking rationally before reacting but under the impression that she's doing the right thing. And I'm here for it. I need more people to call her out on her sh*t but I can live with this for now because it's entertaining. I do not like her but I like what she brings to the canvas, the ire she conjures up in me when I know she's about to say something both unwarranted and unhinged. I also REALLY enjoyed her scenes with Sonny the other day and I haven't enjoyed any scene with Sonny in nearly a year. But I liked Sonny, the immature, imbalance mobster who lives his life always on the verge of losing it with his family and friends over the most miniscule slight, encouraging her to give into her desire for revenge. It's BAD advice and from anyone else it would just be bad writing but from Sonny? Makes perfect sense. And for him to say to Kristina, the child most like him? Makes even more sense. If they're positioning Kristina as his heir apparent I say bring it on.
  9. I think the fault of those post-coital scenes can be blamed 50% on the actors and 50% on the producers and directors. There is absolutely no reason Brook Lynn needed to look like a linebacker splayed out on the field. And you're telling me these two wouldn't commit to at least a shoulders up shot, fully clothed but the illusion of nudity? That would be better than BLQ dressed like Ofchase.
  10. I thought that was Eric Matsolf for a second.
  11. I said “interesting”, people! But I suppose we all have different interpretations of that word. I just wish he had some bite to him.
  12. Can someone link me to a scene with Ed Scott's alleged production improvements? I've looked and everything looks as middling as always.
  13. Name one interesting thing about Cody. Quickly!
  14. Soaps rarely celebrate a holiday after its passed unless it was already being celebrated so I’d wager we’re skipping Thanksgiving. I’m loving Alexa as Lulu so much. Finally I can watch her play a character I don’t detest! And I really love that the first person she knows to see her is Rocco, I also love that she instantly recognized her son. She’s going to be a mess realizing it’s been 4 years and now her little boy is taller than her. Not sure about her and Cody. He’s just so boring and a real generic character. He likes horses and lied to the nicest man in the world for two years. Oh and he almost effed his cousin. Give the man a PERSONALITY! Anything! Dear god. Make him the lothario @Vee has been begging for. Really enjoyed Lucky and Liz investigating a bit together. I hope his presence gives Liz some of her spunk back. And I can already that Havins, JJ and Genie are going to gel well as a family unit, can’t wait for them to reunite. Rick Hearst needs to never leave this show again. Ric is just so scummy, I live for it. The show was drowning in benign nice people for so long, it’s been such a breath of fresh air watching people come in to stir the pot or having existing characters fall to the dark side a bit.
  15. Yet you wrote this word salad to muddy things. You always talk like you have insider knowledge yet deny it in the same breath. It's weird. Stop that.
  16. Or a new career maybe! Sorry lol I think she’s a terrible actor. That said even she deserves better than Y&R and GH. Are she and Bryton still a couple?
  17. It would be massively disrespectful to Bobbie’s memory and how hard she fought for Lucas basically his entire childhood for the show to go “well they don’t share DNA”. Not to mention how offensive it is adoptees and gay people in general frankly lol Aiden has a crush on the only other gay person he knows who also happens to be his cousin. Weird stuff. If they go there…I mean, whatever floats your boat I guess!
  18. Jason and Anna aren’t relatives. Tammy and Jonathan are also a bad example because they weren’t raised together, hell their mothers weren’t even raised together.
  19. I was never quite sold on Stefano’s obsession with Marlena but John? Absolutely. And fine, I’ll say it some of my earliest memories watching Days involved a hairy, glistening, shirtless John saving…someone from something or other? He and the show fully got my attention. Beyond his good looks he was drowning in charisma. Drake just radiated heroism and kindness and a pure love of what he was doing. There wasn’t a scene he phoned in. His chemistry with Deidre was unparalleled. I don’t think there’s actually been a sexier couple on daytime than these two and they were still bringing it well into their 60s. This loss is leaving a huge hole on the daytime landscape. John was the type of hero that simply doesn’t exist anymore and most of that affability came from Drake, an actor who was equally parts sexy leading man and loving dad. He’ll be missed.
  20. Wow so many words when “Sorry we’re weird!” would’ve sufficed. Jesus Christ.
  21. They’re COUSINS. I joked with you earlier about this but I was JOKING. A realistic suggestion of this is beyond gross.
