Yes exactly. A few years ago, Julie Dove won a contest to appear in one episode of Days, and she was filmed but her scene was entirely cut. She posted the deleted scene on her social media. (edit: the show uploaded the cut scene onto Days social media, and then she quoted it.) A year or two later they hired her to appear for a short scene as one of Sloan's legal clients, and that scene aired. She posted then about being happy/grateful, etc. Then later they hired her to be in a scene with Li. But basically nothing else. She was still glad to be hired. Then more recently Ron wrote her into the current Li storyline. So even if her current storyline is stupid, I think she's just grateful for some work, especially since she was originally supposed to be in only one episode.

FYI: Cwikly and Ford have been fi-core since the 2007-2008 strike. (Link to fi-core list) Ford may have written during the 2023 strike, as she was on the DAYS writing team before and after the strike. But it cannot be confirmed since those 2023 strike episodes were uncredited. No idea if Cwikly or anyone else wrote for DAYS during the 2023 strike, since those episodes were uncredited.

But he didn't specifically say in the interview that he wants a Bristen pairing to happen again. The topic of Bristen came up in the interview because he was asked what scenes he submitted for the Emmys and he described the Bristen scenes and he said he loves working with Stacy. He said Kristen is Brady's cocaine. My impression/interpretation of what I read is that Martsolf knows Bristen is messy and interesting and he's a fan of that.

Republicans ramp up attacks on Kamala Harris amid swirl over Biden future (theguardian) The article focus is that the Republicans and Tr*mp campaign are ramping up these attacks in a two-pronged approach: *both* to attack her as Biden's VP running mate, AND to attack her as a potential replacement candidate for president. I appreciate the way The Guardian frames these attacks as slurs and baseless lies and is clearly pointing out how wrong this is. (Sad that I have to write an appreciation of a news article that doesn't engage in "both-sides-ism", and actually reports that lies are lies, and sexism is sexism, and racism is racism. This shouldn't be unusual!)
