Y&R: Old Articles
In the past several months, I've noticed Michael Mealor's Kyle acting like a clone of Peter Bergman in mannerisms, speech style, expressions. It's uncanny. But then when Kyle started having the affair with Audra, he started calling himself "Smilin' Kyle". I coudn't believe they put that in the dialogue! ROFL, Mealor is not a young Terry Lester at all, despite the actions of his character. He's responsible Cliff Warner. Can you imagine if Terry Lester had been in the same age group as Zuleyka Silver airing at the same time? That would have been amazing.

For me, Bryant Jones was the only compelling version of Nate. (I don't know whether to blame acting or writing for those who followed.) I loved this guy:

Josh Griffith interview March 2022 on his vision for the 50th anniv of Y&R: https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/icymi-josh-griffith-interview-1723920/ Digest: How did you track all of this? Do you have a storyboard? Griffith: I just keep it all in my head [laughs]. I actually have a white board in my office where I’ve got it down. We’ve created three arenas of storytelling on the show, the Newman arena, the Abbott arena and the Chancellor-Winters arena. Everything falls within those three and there’s some crossover, but it falls within those three. So it was pretty easy to have three columns of story and then time it out so that this would happen and that would happen. - - - JG is still writing the show the way he described in March. It's ridiculous. But but we can see that everyone is being written as he described.- The Taylor Swift Thread

yes. Jennifer was living in Laura's house there, settling the estate (while Missy and Cady were unavailable to film). Jack went to be with her. It evolved that instead of J&J living in Salem and visiting Boston, it became J&J living in Boston and visiting Salem. It started off that there was a small or midsized newspaper in the Boston region that they were helping a little, and then then it eventually became their fulltime commitment.- Y&R: December 2023 Discussion Thread
Transcript from that episode May 8, 2023 https://tvmeg.com/index.php/2023/05/09/yr-transcript-monday-may-8-2023/ This was the only Malcolm/Nate interaction in the episode: Harmony: Neil manages to inspire people, even after he’s gone. Lily: So, I guess it means he’s never really gone, right? Nate: He was so supportive of me being a doctor. I wonder what he’d think now? Malcolm: Are you following your heart? Nate: I am. Malcolm: Well, there it is. Neil would be the last one to tear you down for that.- Y&R: December 2023 Discussion Thread
You misunderstood my post. That entire "return" of Malcolm in May 2023 was indeed Shemar Moore and was publicized in tons of photos and several promo videos. But he was in only one episode and was onscreen for maybe five or ten minutes. Malcolm arrived partway through the evening and said he snuck away from his job to fly in for the family party at the jazz lounge because they were honoring Neil, but then said he had to leave immediately to catch a flight back. I could be exaggerating and maybe he was onscreen for 15 minutes but I think it was less. Back to my original point, Shemar's Malcolm was in Genoa City in May 2023 for only a few minutes, so there was no time to talk to Nate in any meaningful way. It would have been a good opportunity for the character of Nate, as Malcolm was the stepfather who raised Nate, but clearly the show could not get Shemar for enough time to do anything much.- Legend Norman Lear has passed away

True what you said there about Nathan Sr. Malcolm was the stepdad who raised Nate, but the show seems to forget that. They didn't even play that up during Malcolm's five-minute visit in May.- Y&R: December 2023 Discussion Thread
But Nate never seemed passionate about being a doctor. But Chance was always passionate about being in the military and law enforcement, and regardless of the actor has NEVER had interest in business.- Y&R: December 2023 Discussion Thread
We don't know if Nate ever felt a "calling" to be a doctor or not. He certainly seems to be written as enjoying being a business shark. And he does seem to have some of the seedy aspect of his father.- ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?

Yes! Charles Mesure is playing the mysterious man at the end of Dec. 1st episode. I won't say more since you haven't seen more yet. His twitter https://twitter.com/CMesure/ Mesure retweeted this scene from Dec. 1st:- 2023: The Directors and Writers Thread
Ron Carlivati's story ideas air until around Christmas; but episodes written by nonunion dialogue writers began airing Dec. 4. Apparently the fired co-EP (whom we don't name because of his horrible abusive behaviors) ... set himself up as a sort of showrunner, "supervising the scripts" during the strike, so there was nobody officially acting as "headwriter" during that time, but he sort of did that function. The strike began May 2 and firedguy was fired August 4, so there are three months of firedguy's nonsense that will air. Followed by two months of an unknown nonunion person headwriting from Aug. 4 until the strike ended Sept 27. And headwriting/story concepts air out further than the actual scripts, so the firedguy's concepts might air into part of March and then UnknownPerson's stuff airing into May. LOL to sum up, the answer to your question is "we don't know". These are the members of WGA-East who are fi-core https://www.wgaeast.org/enforcement/wgae-financial-core-list/ (the East list does not divulge *when* the person when fi-core) These are the members of WGA-West who are ficore https://www.wga.org/members/membership-information/wgaw-financial-core-list (the West list tells the year each person went fi-core) Since the writers write from home, it could be anyone on the east or west lists. Well, anyone except: Josh Griffith remained HW for Y&R through the 2023 strike. Michael Minnis and Mark Pinciotti wrote for B&B through the 2023 strike. Fran Meyers (Frances Myers Newman) has been on the Days staff for many years as a script editor and was already ficore from the 2007-2008 writers strike, so presumably she remained on the staff during the strike. Sheri Anderson is on the WGA-West list as going ficore in 2023, so the obvious speculation was that she did some sort of writing for Days during the strike (consulting, breakdowns, dialogue, whatever) ... but theoretically she could have done writing for another soap instead, or freelanced for more than one soap ... or did writing for nonsoap projects -- we just don't know.- DAYS: Ho-ho-holiday romance and a little DNA drama!
